-

how come you and Banned say the same thing?
-
think after going through many alternatives - be it wooden, bifold, PD door , each has its own + and -. In the end, we will settle for glass door - more glass in the house!
-
hi JandG thanks for the link - lots of useful stuff there!

How do you test the balance? The salesman at OG showed me a set from Henckel - he balanced the blade on his finger. According to him, only that set can balance like that, hence costs more. But do we actually do such a "test" when buying knife? . have to agree with you that we may need everything in the set, but I guess the rest are bonus?? Good to have spare ones maybe?
-
sorry I fail to understand - why would the tip of the blade chip off with regular use? I thought regular use will only dull the blade, and tip can chip off only if , eg, drop? had a look at the razorsharp website, maybe will pop by to have alook - though I think I will just browse and drool - looks expensive ! thanks!

sounds cool - imagine a coloured knife!
-
wow, looks like we have many resident knife experts here in RT - thanks everyone!

what does weight balance mean? The salesman at OG showed me a series of Henckel, and balanced the blade on his finger. But so what if it can balance? I mean, how does balacing help in cutting etc?
-
why ha? you also eyeing it? Benny told me that piece is very hot - dunno real or trying to make me feel that I have bought something really good??
-
Hi Floppy is it true that to cut things thin, we need to use a thin blade knife, like those japanese ones?
-
where did you see that? 3M may cost more than other adhesive type hangers etc, but definitely much lesser than stainless steel ones like song cho. And we like it because it is hassle free installation and does not leave drill holes on the wall. 3M products going at 15% off at Home Fix, also saw them on sale at Giant Tampines. You might like to take a look there

no, we went in the afternoon. You getting things from them too? I walked the almost the entire stretch of Jalan Besar and is most impressed by their patience to explain and service-oriented attitude. And non-pushy too. If you notice, the display piece at the top (kitchen sinks) is gone - I took it lor. Apparently the last piece, and the supplier does not bring it in anymore, so I chop it many months ago.
-
ha ha - I also dunno leh , but will check with Edmund if his people can do lah!
-
I also find 3M lacking in one item - toilet roll holder - this one we need. Kind of weird to use all 3M then one roll holder in stainless steel! Aiya, wish they have a complete range!

hyflux's price comes with installation. But now hubby is thinking of asking Edmund's plumber to install. His reasoning that plumber will do everything nice nice, then later the hyflux people come and "mess up" again - so better let plumber do all together. So still thinking, not sure which way is better? any thoughts from you on this?

thanks Floppy. Have never tried honing, and never good at sharpening also. The block method seems quite difficult, without any noticeable difference after running the blade through the block. But it's nice to see experts doing it, looks so easy. I have seen people sharpening their knife against the back of a bowl too, seems like quite good effect. As for the "pull through a few times method", does not work for me either - it's either me or the tool is not good. Heard that there are professional knife sharpeners who can do the job for a fee? ha ha - that dot. I find it funny when the salesgirl highlighted that also - why would they want to put a dot on the knife intentionally? Just to show it's handmade? Another question for the expert. What really is the difference between an expensive vs a cheaper knife? Weight? Sharpness? Easily blunt? or what?

Ceramic? sounds really fragile. Where did you see that?

oh, I did not know that there are many series for scanpan also? How does it go? As for rack, not that it's for display or anything. just that I felt it neater to place everything on a rack instead of having knives in the drawers - which I also find to be a bit dangerous, and also to save the already-limited drawer space. And speaking of rack, do you use one? I sometimes have this nagging fear that the wood inside may "rot" due to the mositure in the knife that may seep in over time. Don't sure if I worry unnecessarily here.

you forgot jerry's ... wah, a few days did not check RT and so much talk about food here. Makes me feel like eating supper! nicely done house, 15may!
