  1. yup, just checked with contractor - confirm that the hinges are just for aesthetics, so even if bottom part does come out easily, it does not affect the function of the gate. hope all future fernvale owners will watch out for this guy!
  2. hi Bearlyn ok you got the same arrgt as me, but just want to check this. Noticed that your shower kerb is closed, so water flow supposed to drain into the floor trap inside shower screen right? We wanted to do this, but contractor highlighted that water will pond because flow of water will end on outside floortrap, ie the area between the 2 floor traps will pond because flow is blocked by the closed shower kerb, so he proposed a kerb with an opening. Did you notice that?
  3. would love to. let me know when convenient. tks
  4. i was referring to the drainage from fancoils to toilet. Because for ours, to drain at floor trap in mbr toilet, the water pipe need to make a big roundabout from the wall where it enters. Am I making sense?
  5. what's there in the basement to explore? Thought that place is just a pool and 7eleven and mac? Is there more fun stuff there? ya that kopitiam - indeed pathetic. We went when it first opened and there were so many duplicates of stalls selling the same food. Imagine, in the same kopitiam, you can find more than 3 stalls selling fish ball noodles, chicken rice, fish soup, nasi lemak ... and then now, half the stalls have shut down. How to come it like that? Even carpark also kopitiam card!
  6. actually they are "dangerous" people. These conman prey on the old folks, prey on the mindset of new owners who want things done nicely, maybe should report them .. to think that we almost fall prey to him!
  7. really ah - then I better go erase that mark on the bell lor! which thread is that? want to kaypoh and read
  8. ha ha - that piece of wrinkled paper - yes, he said he did so many units, I wanted to take a closer look and he quickly pulled it away!
  9. wah, he did not even tell me what's to be done for the week leh - you ask or he volunteer to tell you? But then again, I go down everyday. So far there has been progress daily, so far so good. So schedule or no schedule, things are moving. Not sure if his pace is fast or slow compared with others, but nvm, as long as not stagnant. So maybe I should forget about asking for schedule liao so he goes to all new estates? My hb even said maybe he is a "robber", that's why he knows such tactics of breaking the gate!
  10. that's a good idea - how come I never thought of that? will do so tomorrow - thanks!
  11. hi am looking forward to more of your beautiful house! I am in sengkang too !
  12. we did, that's why he said almost all at FV did it. Then he turned around and true enough, our neighbour did it too. He showed us how easy to pull out ours and how impossible it is to pull out the neighbour's soldered one.
  13. ha ha ha but on a serious note - anyone thought of installing a ceiling fan in the kitchen?
  14. ha ha ha but on a serious note - anyone thought of installing ceiling fan in kitchen? Or what you plan to make it a cooler place to work in ah? B
  15. haven't move in yet la, reno barely just started nia
  16. ya, will sms aron tomorrow, bc by the time I saw the house, it's almost 7pm liao. Not nice to disturb at that hour lah! why did edmund suggest better to end at the wall? actually we also dunno - at first we wanted to end at the wall, so that the piping is minimal, but Sam thinks better to end at the floor trap. According to him, if it does not end at floor trap, the tiles may change colour because of the constant "supply" of water draining from the pipe. So we said ok, but today, his men still end it at the wall only, so seems that a bit of miscomm - now we also not sure which is better??
  17. Wanted to check this very quickly before it slipped my mind again. Today when we were at FV, a man approached us to change the joints of the metal gate. He said the type HDB gave is easily broken into, and showed us how easily he can pull the bottom part. In place, his is like a nut and bolt, and he will solder the open end so as to seal it. He claimed that almost all at FV did this. When we asked that he give us some time to think about it and to give us his contact number, he claimed that he does not frequent that area, so it's either do now or don't do. Then he walked away! So dao attitude - can't even let people think? But that beside the point, is it really true that the HDB one is that bad? What did all of you do to secure the gate?
  18. we also place fancoils in yr exact position except for mbr. trunking also look almost the same except mbr. btw, can check how your aircon water drainage run?
  19. bigger sink = less worktop lor. both are equally important, so which one to sacrifice?
  20. thanks too. I also very kan cheong one, everyday go to new house to see what's done - bc contractor says want to give me reno schedule but so far never! I kind of give up asking liao - think by the time he give me, it's end of reno! Anyway, whether he give or not, i will still be down physically. .. Today we went over 3 times! kiasu right?
  21. your house is nice! Can I still come over for some reno inspiration when you are ready? You using pendant light for kitchen? We thought of that, but afraid that oily and hard to maintain ... but still thinking hard because we don't like a ceiling light near the entrance. Infact, we are even thinking of getting a ceiling fan for the kitchen, but hesitated for the same reasons
  22. wah, this is no good. No DO or some kind of "evidence"?
  23. sorry to ask a dumb question. How to move in when work not complete? Wouldn't it be very dusty and nosiy? We actually asked our contractor that also, bc thought want to cut down cost of rental temporary accomodation, but he really super discourage us to do that.
