  1. who say wheelchair friendly?I think not even skinny people friendly! Once go in, don't know where to hide to close door properly?? Maybe must do sit on bowl position, then slam the door close??? anyway, the PD door - you mean the slide and swing door?
  2. hi bearlyn can check what company is the uncle marketing the alarm system? any rates? and what it covers?
  3. can ask what kind of door do you all fix at toilets? HDB one or yr own? I ask bc entry seem not to be very smooth - like obstacle course
  4. hey bearlyn thanks so much! If space permits, I want industrial oven lei! yes, yes, I will .. we are barely at the start of marathon nia - must not be discouraged by any setback!
  5. I choose based on layman requirements. 1. size that fits the space allocated for sink, including whether single or double bowl? 2. under or top mount? Although nowadays if you ask the shopkeepers, every piece also can do top or undermount, with the exception of those "clean cut" ones strictly for undermount only 3. shape? rounded edge or straight corners (don't know what is the term for this?), bearing in mind where you want to fix the mixer? Are you going to install a soap dispenser? water filter faucet? etc. 4. read some comments about single or joint? but again, most shopkeepers say theirs is single - I don't know how to see 5. thickness of sink - some s/s are very thin, think generally should be careful of such. 6. undercoat? some have the black rubber piece, understand that that is supposed to prevent condensation? 7. accessories - some come with basket to catch food particles, some don't, though maybe you can just buy one to replace but for me, mostly is based on shape. This sink I got is love at first sight, I had to keep bugging the lao ban every few days till he is willing to let go of it ... But hubby thinks I am crazy, so many sinks to choose from, but I choose a display piece?!?!? hth
  6. so how to prevent this from happening? Those song cho one can tahan or not?
  7. so quickly? You barely started using yr kitchen a few months back right? But actually, I think need to pour out water that has dripped onto tray and more or less wipe dry right?
  8. No major complaints (yet), but was a bit frustrated about the lack of communication. first, we had thought the kitchen glass panels will be full height, but ended up it there is a "partition" that blocks the full view. Apparently, it's stated in the contract as 2.1m, but we sort of overlooked (or did not realise, or just plain blur) that that is not the same as full height ... later, we also learnt that to do sliding door, this is inevitable since the door has to hang on some support. So this marks our first miscomm. Now I believe that reno sure got hiccups
  9. hi for those of you who just been to ikea - has the lighting section been removed? Was there last night, but couldn't find it?
  10. don't worry, the officer will walk you trhough the procedures - conservancy charge, fire insurance,
  11. do police patrol the area quite frequently? If so, should be a good deterence, but so far, never seen any police car around.
  12. Hi Ryooki what is the height of yr study room glass panel? Is it full height?
  13. Mon, 2 Aug 2010 Today we went for a second round of dry lay - with company B. luckily, our deal with the company A did not materialise, because when the salesman from the B counted, we realised that company A had counted in excess of what is needed, even after taking a % for wastage into consideration - this is truly a blessing in disguise! So everyone take note - please do not take what the tile company tells you at face value, make sure you count the pieces of tiles needed. Imagine in my case, the difference is as much as 40 pieces! And each piece costs $25, so that's a wastage of $1000 if I had purchased the marble from company A! And after that, what am I supposed to do with the balance of 40 pc of marble tiles?
  14. ha ha .. best is every part is big lor!
  15. hmm ... ya .. but my hall also looks smaller

  20. hi think if you are installing ceiling light, then no need to do false ceiling right? also depends on what you want? are you having a ceiling fan? if so, will it be fan with light kit? On the other hand, if you prefer to have fan but not with attached light, then downlight will be the option.

  23. ya lor - but no choice given the space limitations. Somemore, 3/4 of total space will belong to wife, and 1/4 will be hubby's. Ha ha ha!
  24. as what 15may said, don't think got ideal configuration one lah. Really depends on yr needs - go through yr items and use yr current wardrobe as guide - what you wish for more, what is redundant etc. kitchen also the same lah - how much storage space you need vs worktop space, you want appliances all build in and hidden in cabinet or "exposed"? Do you want oven at eye level or below hob? You know what kitchen appliances you need already or not? esp those build in ones?
