  1. Review 1 - Bed Frame - Aafrenz Got my Queen and 2 single bed frames at the Expo, where they had a booth. Generally, the whole experience had been positive. The order was made pretty much in advance, and we returned a few times to have a look at the new bedheads, and material etc, did a few changes, before making the final confirmation of colour and delivery date. All were entertained without question (ie as long as they have not started the production) Delivery was a little late, but still the installers did what they were supposed to swiftly, and properly bc ours is a mix of colours for the same set of frame. Pictures will show what I mean later. I'm glad we decided on storage bed frames - these are indeed great for storing away stuff that we don't need often! Already filled up the queen bed frame, now going to attack the girls' ones .. he he
  2. On the same day, we arranged for two big loads of delivery - 1. bedframe 2. girls study room and bedroom furnishing Both came late, and all arrive at the same time! Panic because it's alot of stuff, all need space to install .. - 3 bedframes - 2 wardrobes - 3 tables - 2 mattresses Fortunately, the different groups of installers are all very experienced, and were able to work within the limited space sorry, this one no pictures yet, will post later once the place is nice nice stage
  3. The Big Move Day - cont Fully Loaded Arrive at FV This is only a fraction of what i had to unpack - many long and sleepless days and nights .. It's a good thing my living hall furnishing has not arrived, so I can park the stuff there as we unpack each box! So indeed, it's a blessing in disguise that they had to indent the stocks we wanted!
  4. Tue, 5 Oct 2010 It's been a long long time since I last updated the progress here at our new home - we have been really busy, and used up every bit of my energy unpacking stuff - to date, I would say it's 90% complete, at least for my stuff, which consists of like 95% of the house .. LOL! Have been too lazy to take photos of the furnished house, let alone download. but for now, will start by sharing some pictures of the BIG day - moving day! We decided to engage the Helping Hands, after reading good reviews from the forum. Besides, it's also good since it's giving these people a second chance. And they did prove to be really deserving of the second chance - well done, guys! First, our beloved stuff from rental house - the old but still strong fridge, and our 15-yr-old mattress (shows how old I am ... ).. A quick review on the Helping Hands. - 6 guys came punctually, - very careful with our belonging esp piano, - they tried hard to accommodate all in one trip (most other movers have insisted that we need to do ours in 2 trips). In the end, they truly managed to do so, but only with 2 of the movers having to go to destination via cab in order to squeeze in the last few items, which we gladly paid for - team spirit is great, - entire move is complete within 2.5 hours Strongly Recommended
  5. how do you clean the dry toilet? just mop or run water with bidget spray? I like to use water to spray, but rather afraid that the veneer door will not last if I do that
  6. ha ha, we even more kiasu, straight away buy for next 3 months, and the rest on giro. Don't want to go through the hassle of queueing for ticket again - very waste time and risky also. I think if you do the queuing method, tickets for following month will be released on 22nd of each month. during the 3 months that we rented a place, I remembered joining the snaking queue on the 22nd way before they open at 8am, and when I was nearing the HDB office, I saw carparks for some areas had already been struck out of the list! Talk about kiasuism!
  7. Thanks for the tips and explanation. It does need some getting used to, but despite the confusion, I do agree that the LRT does make travelling easier. Maybe for shorter travel within Sengkang, we can now venture on LRT instead of driving. Bc finding a parking lot at FV can be another issue, esp if we return late. My old place at Hougang - same problem - which I thought was unique to open carpark, but here multi storey carpark also same problem. Infact, we almost could not buy a season parking lot bc fully booked! Gals mama, you at AMK right? No LRT but you got MRT and lots of buses and alot of facilities - convenient!
  8. speaking of station names, I find the names so weird - other than fernvale - have they run out of names to call? aiyoh, tongkang, layar, renjong??? very hard to remember! do u mean the train is not in service through the day? or do you mean different time different platform? if it only runs at certain timing, then must plan carefully when to leave the house!
  9. wow, you all so lang man - go garden walk walk ... we go home can only pack pack, then tired tired and sleep sleep liao
  10. huh? thought u have not moved in yet? you from another part of sk ?
  11. btw, forgot to add that last night, we tried the LRT again. planned to travel to the east loop, if see any coffeeshop, quickly hop off and makan. Any recommendation of makan place at the door step of LRT station? Anyway, for the adventure now - took LRT at fernvale, head to sengkang, then east loop right? Who knows, after sengkang, the train repeats its round at the west loop?!?! So we had to go another round! By which time, we decided to alight at fernvale and eat opposite our place - sian! Again, no announcement to get off train to take east loop train or something, like they do in MRT interchange .. wow, lots to learn!
  12. ho ho ho .. looks like we are not alone! Thought we are super sua ku, even LRT also dunno how to take lei? So malu ok, will try more times, hopefully will be able to understand timing and platform stuff better ..
  13. Last evening, wanted to try to take the LRT to Compasspoint for dinner. OMG, so super confusing leh?!?!? Went up the platform, don't know train coming from platform 1 or 2?? Luckily, one kind soul explained to us that one platform is taking route in clockwise direction, and the other anti clockwise. So ok, we managed to get to Compasspoint after some wait. Wah, come back is really classic! Even more confusing - now not just platform 1 and 2, some more got east and west loop? Took us quite a while to reaslise that ours is west loop - suaku lah! But there is no blxxxy signage! Then macham like chasing the train -- went to platform 1, saw train going to east loop. ok, we thought wait for next train, but still east loop!!! Then heard announcement that train coming, waited but none came, only to realise that it has departed on the other platform - and that's the west loop train!?!?! Very jia lat - think the direction signage got to be improved, if not first timers sure to be caught!! In the end, we just stood in the middle and have to look at both platforms to see which one has the west loop train approaching. But I think I will still face the same prob next time, still unable to understand??
  14. Yes, yes, I give myself one week to fully pack up, then we can meet hor? Hope I can meet the target date, if not everyday see the boxes all over the floor, very sian!
  15. ha ha .. very true about walking around FREELY! We love the new place, very cosy even though still got things not done. But yet to start cooking leh, so it's still eat out, coming to 4 months already. imagine the amt of wei jin in our bodies now! thanks thanks .. luckily we got mover .. was intially contemplating moving ourselves! I could pack easily and carry boxes fully laden with stuff few months back, but now I feel so easily exhausted - hiaz, must be getting old liao! gulp, gulp, good thing you reminded me about water - I always forget to drink - would you believe this? Sometimes I only drink at meal time, so that's 3 cups of kopi-o per day, and that's it. Hubby thinks I'm a camel ..
  16. wow, you are so observant! indeed, everyday sleep around 2am - need to quickly finish packing bc still got touch up reno not done leh. Already contractor keeps asking when can come - if wait wait wait, think in the end, we will be so sian end up don't touch up liao?!?! That's the prob with moving in before everything is done! u out so late at night, supper ah? roti prata at kayu?
  17. Sun, 26Spet 2010 Hi hi hi! We are officially in Fernvale now!! Singtel just came to do my line relocation, so take short break to check out the internet connection Thanks everyone, we are really excited about this new place, and eager to meet all my new neighbours that I have made in RT, yet have not met .. would love to put a face to all the names ... but must wait ah - now the place is major war zone! All our boxes take up half the hall area, right up to the passageway entrance!! Faint liao, last night pack until 2am, still not half way done yet. today must jia you bc glass backing, curtains coming tomorrow!! Insane and Banned - cheer up - we will still be in RT to support one - Dec not that far really!! Before i forget, Flamedav, you still want the boxes? Or anyone? Please pm me if you do, ok? That's all for now - back to war zone!
  18. Today, went down to FV - did alot of things 1. officially join the mopping and cleaning club - cleaned all day, now back aching liao, tomorrow continue - I standby 2 sets of broom and mop, but luckily, not broken yet 2. officially made FULL payment to contractor, even though there are still work pending. After thinking through and through, we are comfortable that contractor can be trusted, so made full payment. 3. was expecting delivery today, with timing staggered. However, no one turned up at their scheduled timing. BUT all decided to show up after 6pm - so it was somewhat chaotic, having 3 groups of deliveries together - * Brandt washer and dryer * 1 Queen storage bedframe and 2 singles * Girls' study tables, computer table, wardrobe, bookshelf, mattresses - this is the BIG one! Despite being late, all 3 installation went through smoothly. Staff were very courteous and apologetic, everything done up nicely, so we are a bunch of happy folks today ! 4. Bought pineapple and oranges .. get ready to HUAT AH! tomorrow! Tomorrow will be another tiring day - mover coming in the morning, expect to be packing, packing, packing, and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning till Sunday - Singtel will be coming to do line relocation Monday - TV, curtain, Hyflux delivery and installation and my house will be complete! albeit short of the living hall furnishing .. 2 months wait, but never mind, we can enjoy the cool cool marble first!
  19. hey bearlyn I thought all of u disappeared liao! Have u moved in?
  20. Fri, 24 Sept 2010 One more night ... just one more night ... we are moving tomorrow early morning!!!
  21. got 2 quick questions to any kind soul who is RTalking now ... 1. is the hood wall-mounted or does it lend support from the top hung cabinets on its sides? For a chimney hood, does it need to "sit" on an extended portion of the cabinet or does it "hang" independently? 2. Can you see the screws on your cabinet interior? Do they protrude or flushed to the surface of the wood? thanks you
  22. door varnished - initially I told contractor I wanted light colour, but he kept assuring me that a darker tone will look better. Thankfully I listened to him - we like the colour! parts for fixing the toilet mirror oops, can't find a pix of the mirror, maybe I had overlooked ...
  23. Wed 22 sept 2010 3 days to go! And have not been updating for a while .. forgotten where I last stopped, so this update will be in no particular sequence ... parquet smoothened, awaiting for varnishing timber skirting also up even the small corners, and the space between the door and gate - I would have forgotten! ... to be continued in next post
  24. I also dunno - think will just roll pineapple, then after that can chill and makan ... maybe roll watermelon
  25. for us, we can't wait - if can, also don't mind moving in before ... btw, what and how do you all do yr moving in ceremony? throw orange and pineapple ah? Huat ah!
