hi neubie just looked through yr blog, very impressed with all the details of yr reno journey. My reno is already completed, wanted to do a day by day "report" but after a while, cannot keep up. congrats for yr almost completed reno!

wow, you are doing false ceiling in the kitchen! and cove lights in all the rooms too. Nice! Just a few thoughts -- * is one PLC light in the passage enough? * I suppose u already have an idea how to place the fixtures? Bc that does determine where and how many lighting points. I say this bc for my kitchen, there is not much light coming in. Since we did not do false ceiling and do not want too many trunking to be seen, we can only have one lighting point provided by hdb. For all other areas of the kitchen, I have light from the top hung cabinet, so they do brighten up the area when I work at those worktops. But for the sink area, where I do most work, there is no top hung cabinet, hence no light. Keep seeing my own shadow when I work - very irritating

think it also depends on how often you use these appliances? If once in a while, I would go for aesthetics. But I can't imagine having to do this daily, in the end, I am end up not closing the cabinet altogether. For me, practicality rules

hubby says maybe they buy paint got commision one, so they just buy more than needed lor, need 1 buy 2, need small one buy big one. And since buy liao, just open and use, if not owner question? Yr blum not included in yr quote? Or yr contractor over estimate? Tiles ah? Why not use as some kind of decorative items? I also have the spare marble tiles, tucked under the sink. The space under the sink can't really store anything anyway, so just put the spare tiles there. I would have stored the paint there too, if not for the smell.

if you can find a song cho one that can fit neatly into the cabinet space, then should be ok, bc theirs are all wall mounted, not "cabinet-mounted" at the sides, right? hmm .. maybe he busy answering yr calls and helping you so no time for me is it? ha ha .. yes lah, he does answer our calls and sms, just that he said his carpenter does not want to do this rectification job, but will try to look for another one who can do so, but need to give him time to find ... ??

but silica gel will become black black if constantly in touch with water, esp if did not cover evenly. The grooves sure to trap water one lucky, mine no xiao qiang or cockroach. My old house xiao qiang always give me fright night! Outside house, esp void deck and near the garden, got alot of those creepy wormy things. Dunno is it the larva of some insects or what? Quite scary, esp in the beginning stage when alot of units still unoccupied

Hello FV neighbours can ask about your toilet? you know, there is the metal strip on the toilet floor, near the entrance? Yours rusty? That day we were talking about the "pink" stains, forgot to ask about this strip. Mine is showing spots, want to save the situation before it worsens. any ideas how or what to use?

ya, moved in one month liao. On the whole, reno is ok, and quite happy with the end result, though there are some issues that were not what it's supposed to be, but just close eye lor. Rectify and rectify we also very sian ... messy, time consuming and all. hope no major issues surface as we live on ..

we too. Painter told us better to buy the big tin, instead of 2 small ones - save money. We gong gong say ok, now, we are stuck with so many tins of paint, many of which are 3/4 full because they are used to paint only one wall. Dunno what to do with the paint now - throw wasted, keep also waste my store room space, not to mention the stench each tiime I open the door

chey .. thought what happened ... if can still add on, better do so now while reno is ongoing. Believe me, a dark kitchen is the worst, esp if you or yr wife spend alot of time in it. My house kitchen got not much sunlight, so I had to turn on the light even in mid afternoon! And bc the lighting point is in the centre, this means that the light source is back facing me while I work. I find this quite irritating as I have to keep trying to turn my body so as not to block the light.

ha ha .. u can join us in the next round of gathering also ... nice to catch up again we also requested for it to be lower, but still too high. I think I shorter than yr wife right? Believe it or not, if I have to stand at the stove for a longer stretch, I need to get a stool too! Just went to get a table top dish rack. Was at Song Cho, but their table top one is so small (only 35cm length), so no choice got to settle for the brandless one. Nvm, this one is standalone, if really rust, can still discard and get new one. Edmund ah? I think he is too busy to have time for our things already -- sian What about you?
