  1. why you put on top? why not side by side? in this case, yr appliances can spread out nicely, bc some appliances got quite short cable
  2. I would say at least 2, but more will be better. And this area is not the same area for appliances like rice cooker, kettle etc right? If so, better have more bc very troublesome to keep plugging and unplugging.
  3. not really good design for baking lah. But just make sure to have an oven, plus allow for a reasonable amount of work top space, otherwise quite difficult to work your batter/dough/pastry etc.
  4. hi rondy JB which shop did you go? Is it the one opposite sentosa, near the hotel? have heard that their things there are cheaper, but they closed on sunday so yet to have a chance to visit, tried to search online also found nothing. What kind of things do they stock?
  5. marshmellow last night very funny - I couldn't sleep - kept thinking about baking etc, and then I remembered a very important tool - skewers - to test doneness of cake. Remember to buy this also ah
  6. no lah, not going for these fairs for now
  7. wow, cake looks really yummy!
  8. ya lor, I used to attend the demo at hougang, but the demo there also closed liao. Heard that it's bc of the fire case where two kids were burnt
  9. hi janelle any thoughts on where you want to place the toilet roll holder? and why not stretch the mirror wider so that at least can see full reflection when using the sink? from the photo, looks like in the middle just my 2cents
  10. that's so sweet of you! we were just discussing this in my thread - on the basic tools to get started. but before that, may be good to know what she already has?
  11. hmm, but i find tott a bit high end. for ingredients, I don't really like some products at phoon huat - find their things not so good grade. For me, since going to add so much calories, must put in "good" ones
  12. ours too, did not report anything. There were some uneven tiles etc in the toilet, but we only spotted them later after reno had begun. In retrospect, I wonder what can be done if we had reported that?
  13. can try phoon huat, they have most of these at reasonable price. Oh yes, ikea also has many of these tools - you are ikea meatball fan right? so can go have meatball and buy baking tools - kill 2 birds with one stone! over the years, i have bought quite a lot of tools, but got to agree with flamedav that these are the basic ones. Some additional essential ones might be * hand whisk * measuring spoon * sieve of course things like baking tins/bake paper etc - the list is endless - once you are hooked, there is no end have fun !
  14. ha ha .. with the year end bonus, sure got budget la
  15. wah, reading RT so long but never realise got this thread. Marsh, you are very good in digging up info! why not try phoon huat? they have most of the tools, very reasonably priced too. they also run demo and hands on classes at sims drive if you are keen n have the time.
  16. at first we also wanted to extend kitchen into service yard. But HDB only allows cooking activities within the original kitchen perimeters, so we drop the idea.
  17. thanks. any website or company that I can see the colours?
  18. can i ask a dumb question - does epoxy coating come in colour? or only the grey tone?
  19. [ wow, I think you very high standard. My floor also similar to yours, but I did not notice these dirt or maybe my eyesight is failing me liao - getting old! hmm .. but isn't it better that you can see the dirt and clean it up? rather than have it camouflaged, accidentally step on it and "spread" the dirt around? anyway, not all dirt are dark colour right? eg, flour on light coloured tile will be less obvious than a dark one? yes, your kitchen def does look nice!
  20. ha ha sounds like those wu(3) lin(2) mi(4) ji(2) but now definitely more free with the festive season over and kids back to school - that's why I am back in RT
  21. june is there a max weight the panels of wood can take? can put books? thinking maybe in a few yrs time when my girls each take a room, can do this kind of wardrobe cum bookshelf for them.
  22. wow wow .. another orange kitchen - looks like orange is the in-colour now! btw I like the first one
  23. it's good to have new paint, but what to do with so much leftover? Actually I don't think painters want to "'cheat" by using other brands or thinning paint, but they do so by telling you need to buy so many (bc already earn comm when they buy right), but end up not using most of it. Either that, or in my case, painter painted lesser coats than they are supposed to .. alamak!! like that also can??
  24. no lah, just that i applied for coral spring before trying fernvale. Luckily fernvale gave me chance, if not I'm still stuck to old place! and of course we are glad we got this house - simply love every bit of it! Actually we think that this is one of the very few good decisions we had made!
