I think depends on how the tiles are aligned. The issue is not whether there is one or two floor traps - for eg, if water in shower area flows into the inside floor trap, there will not be any issue with ponding. On the other hand, mine is built with the outside trap as the lowest point, that's why my concern. At first I thought HDB did not lay my tiles properly, but yesterday I saw my neighbour's also the same. Neighbour on the other side also did not have hole in the kerb, but that's bc she did overlay for her toilet tiles, so her tiler corrected the flow issue. Anyway will go down tomorrow again to double check water flow before deciding next move

ya la, when he opened the door, I wanted to ask if he is Bearlyn, but held myself back, then a phone call saved us bc he replied that he is at sengkang "zuo dian" (do electric work) .. ha ha

ya, let me know, then maybe I can march into HDB and ask them to rectify floor tiles and save my headache

ah, i forgot to reply to this one. When at yr unit, I knocked on yr door, one uncle open the door. At first, I thought it was you .. but later realised it's yr electrician. So we actually did get a sneak preview of your place, albeit a short one lah bc don't want to disturb him at work. Think yr progress same same as mine. When is your HO? For us, only can move in after 7th month, prob during school holiday week

Hi madcat and Neo please enlighten me as I am no good with this IT stuff. When you say LAN cable whole house, do you mean running the cables along with the electrical cables? So with this, no need to use wireless modem? In my old place, we have a wireless modem. Whens surfing the net, sometimes speed ok sometimes very slow. some parts of the house always get disconnected also. Is doing this LAN cable the way to solve this problem? And how is this related to the open net? I thought for open net, just need to run a separate conduit for them?

hi 15may I was just going to ask you also. Actually there were 2 questions - 1. air con water drainage, that one is more a matter of aesthetics vs maintenance. But the more "serious" one is about the water flow in toilet. When I tried with mine, found that water all flow into the outside floor trap, ie that is the lowest point. So if construct shower kerb without a hole, water will pond on the area between the 2 traps. so the alternative is to do kerb with a hole, then water can flow out right? So your kerb with hole or without? If you see my blog, you will notice my kerbs got a hole at the bottom, but Bearlyn's doesn't.

did you physically do water flow test? Bc at first I thought HDB did not lay tiles in my toilet properly ... but if all units at FV are like that, then dunno what to say liao

but already not enough wall to build cabinet. if use wall to mount fan, even more no space. Today went to neighbour's place - he actually closed up the kitchen window to build cabinet! -

er .. that one i am not sure .. better check with the shop you so late still up?

that's true too, bc too much piping means dirt and hair can get stuck under them, and makes cleaning very troublesome. We also thought of covering the piping with concrete, and leaving only a small portion to drain at the floortrap, but only fear is if aircon got problem, got to hack. and now we discover a new problem. There are 2 floortraps in the toilet, and water all flow in the direction of the outside floortrap. So if we build a shower kerb that has no holes, there will be ponding in the area between the 2 floortraps, but if we leave a hole for water to escape, it will make the outside area wet. Dunno why HDB lay tiles in this way?? No sense at all

actually I was being kiasu. I was actually told to get 2x18w for the hall and 2x13w for the rooms. But since we are relying just on downlights, esp for the kids' study room, we thought better get bright one, just in case really insufficient. If too bright, just remove one bulb from each light holder. On the other hand, if we fix 2x13w and find it insufficient, then cannot change to the "bigger" one. Anycase, the room will have 4 switches, each controlling 2 downlights. So I can choose how many to turn on to the desired brightness.
