  1. Hi madcat Yr place is very nicely done. Your reno seems to be very fast also - mine also 30days already, but still at flooring .. my neck getting long from waiting oredi!
  2. I also did not have good experience with the IDs at expo fair. Not just ex, they are so busy they do not really have time for you. Take so many weeks to come back with a simple sketch of the layout plan. For me, it was just good as a stepping stone, to get some ideas of what can be done, what to say and ask etc. In the end, still fall back on the good old RT recommendations. Hmm .. so far so good .. hope i will not be disapointed! Met an ID from the fair, also in yr list, the worst I ever met. First impression really good, then after almost a month, asked me to meet up to have a look at the proposed layout. When I was there, realised that the ID did not even do anything, then on the spot just enlarge my floorplan and say maybe can do this here and do that there!!! Then before I can say further, his senior brought the flyer and started promoting their packages! Hey, we are just talking about design right, why is she harping on $$$? And you know what - she does not even know how to differentiate a door from a window in the floorplan! ?!?!?
  3. hi berry may I ask where is this place in Joo chiat? And where did you get the acrylic holder from? Looks neat
  4. hi Sam don't mind be "borrowing" yr blog. Wanted to ask a question not quite related to the current discussion, but thought this blog is the best to attack since of the high viewership lah .. anyway, just wondering when does carpentry work typically start, assuming it's an overhaul job? After wet works? Tiling? painting? or what? Also when does painting happen? Before carpentry and aircon 2nd installation right? Just wondering about logical sequence of events in a typical reno? thank you for allowing me airtime on yr blog, Sam
  5. how is carpentry work normally done? They just cut the wood to size in factory, then bring the cut pieces to house to assemble, then "paste" laminate? Or do the cabinets in factory without laminate? Or do everything in factory, then just fix the done cabinets at the house?
  6. wow, that's great. We too have been having breakfast/lunch at the indian restaurant near the kayu carpark on way to fernvale. Very good food there, imo, better than the "original" one nearer the old folks home
  7. ha ha, Joseng looks like it's not only I who want to see the pix leh! so go yr house not good enough ... you better post ah!
  8. ya, round type. complain? no lei, we very good neighbours - share share my baking la
  9. ok ok, remember our move-in cookie party? btw, Joseng, can pm yr quote for the mirror feature wall? Really thinking hard about having one at the dining area to make space look bigger, but also got to balance with $$ bc already over-spent by so much - have added so much work not in original contract. Plus 15may says mirror very hard to clean, not sure if I should do it how's yr mirror maintenance? btw if not too much trouble, can post a pix - I kinda forgotten how it looks like liao
  10. think quite certain it's light, bc in my old place, I ever went up to upstairs neighbour's house, and the spot where I had ceiling light feels warmer than the other floor areas
  11. how about magic clean? just clean off the cobweb, remove paper and throw
  12. wah, you must be very popular for them to spam yr blog!
  13. ha ha, even my daughter, when looking through the photos taken, enlarged this pix and commented that Mr Teo is very handsome! And she is only 9 - so can imagine how many girls will melt in his presence ..
  14. that goes without saying ... must take care of his stomach .. actually though contractor keep saying no need to buy, I realise the workers are very hungry one. We bought the big tin of biscuit and packet drinks, and within a few days, all gone .. so must make sure replenish stock often but for this uncle, special delivery one ... ta pau lunch for him on first trip ta pau snack and coffee for afternoon tea just finish baking some cookies, tomorrow cookie delivery ... ha ha
  15. went down again - this time with the 2 girls to show how hard work it is to lay the marble, and took these step by step shots
  16. it's 30x60. Cannot afford the 60x60, so no choice lah. But honestly, don't know which is worst - the bigger tile is heavier but lay lesser pieces, the smaller tile is half the weight but must double the process! infact, after the delivery, we attempted to run through the marble to look for defective pieces, but gave up after going through a few pieces - really heavy stuff! Actually this is really siong, must really salute these 2 men - the 72-yr-old uncle who brought the marble upstairs, and this tiler uncle. I saw him squating to do the cement/adhesive, then picking up a piece of marble, then bending over with that heavy load, adjusting to fit into position nicely. If it's me, my back would have given up on me after one day! Pure hard work!
  17. wow, so nice. ours only a small key pouch and the folder with reno info, contractors etc. When we got the booklet, we felt that it was kind of late bc already done our selection of contractor before getting keys. anyway congrats and welcome!
  18. Hi infinite I believe you must have done a price comparison between these and Blum at Ubi? May I ask what is the difference like?
  19. you not planning to do WIW? I want but area does not permit ..
  20. agree, saw a black vs normal mirror "wall" at OG - very captivating. btw does mirror come in other colour? other than black and normal ones?
  21. mylica looks like we HO around the same tiime. Actually I think carpentry work is the most challenging part - colour scheme already very very headache liao. You decided on colours already?
  22. you one shot do housewarming for all friends and relatives to break into different day/group? Though ours still a long way, now wondering how we are going to do it bc place is so small, like a small group of people overcrowded liao, also not much space outside to linger around ...
