  1. wah, dun say like that! Me no rich .. but since house will live for many yrs to come, must think of all the practical issues - most of the things we do are needs, only very few are wants lei. If not later want to add this and add that, will incur more $$! for the filter system, no drilling needed undersink. just ask yr sink supplier to punch an extra hole on the sink (ie if u want to put faucet on sink) if u want to, otherwise according to hyflux, their plumber can also "open hole" either on worktop or sink on the spot (this is the only drilling needed). The plumber just need to fit a t-joint on cold water pipe, then connect one end to the filter system pipe. If u visit them at harbourfront, u will know what i mean. anyway, this system can install anytime, even long long after reno, so no major messy work involved
  2. Fri, 3 Sep 2010 Very speedy action today. Yard sink has been dismantled, cement support removed, new materials for wet works all in. Cement support removed sink is safe! good job! and this is how it looks now - washer and dryer to the left, sink to the right new materials
  3. banned dont forget to pop by creative living next door to hyflux. They got lots of cool kitchen toys which i am sure yr wife will love! they always have some kind of promo or other too ...
  4. sorry left all the papers in the car, but they only have one kind of undersink filter. er.. actually two types, but according to helen, one of them have been out of stocks for a long time. Anyway they are the same, except one have a longer filter and the other shorter ie lifespan difference. u thinking of installing yrself ah? bc they offer us price inclusive of installation, so should be no trouble ?
  5. one side on the door, one side on the wall behind door - those magnetic type sorry no pix, june sent me one via sms, how to send that pix to u?
  6. ya, it's the main door stopper. According to june's hubby, most others cannot hold the door, but this one works. want me to get for u if i go down next week?
  7. depends on what u need. for me, it's purely for convenience, bc in old place, I have a hot pot. The daily chore is to -dispense out water from hot pot in the night so that next day will have room temp water for drinking- -fill up hot pot again got to repeat this twice daily. sometimes forgot to dispense then next morning no water to drink?!?! girls no water to fill up bottle for school ... also hot pot troublesome to wash So decided to get this to save all these headache, the filter system is just a bonus for us. But as we got into doing homework, we reasoned that since gettng filter, might as well get a better one with a finer filtration system. We compared Multi Pure, EverPure, Hyflux and another two which I forgot the brands. The cheapest one is a korean brand which is purely a charcoal filter, to get rid of chlorine taste. This is the most economical, but changing the filter is very troublesome - we foresee the place getting very wet when doing so, so out. The next few are pretty much similar, the difference in filtration size in minimal. Hyflux was picked bc of its fuss free removal and replacement of filter - no need to wash filter , and autolock ensures no leakage during replacement.
  8. not yet .. will get hyflux people to come only towards end of reno, I think. But from the instructions booklet, dun look too complicated .. u getting one too?
  9. hi june! thanks! this morning, i went to imm, so detour abit and head towards toh guan east. Came to this area near the enterprise hub with quite a few hardware shop. Decided to be hardworking, so popped into each one of them to show them the pix ... no ... no ... no ... until by some strike of luck, we found one! Alas, after checking, they are out of stocks! So have to return again next week ...
  10. def taller than me lah! ok, know what u mean now. do you have to insert and remove the washer outlet pipe each time u use? or just leave it there? mine not delivered the washer yet, so dunno how the arrangement will be like. Will ask contractor again. Wonder if anyone who have moved in can share theirs?
  11. put side by side kill space - Fv very mini scale the hdb thing cannot throw away one lor - bc if sell in future, need to reinstate to original condition. That's why contractor says better don't dismantle even if not using
  12. thought of that - but contractor advises against that. 1. He said this kind is using some kind of load bearing joints, even if can dismantle, next time if want to assemble very difficult. 2. need to find a place to store the system. 3. don't really have space to install a ceiling type bc of light position. Besides if need to install ceiling type, also not cheap. so ...
  13. you must be pretty tall? think for me no problem with head bumping lah! what do you mean the pipe is stuck down main pipe? There is an outlet pipe on the window side right? Is that the one the washer is attached to?
  14. hmm .. guess if really bopian must live with it, but thought since reno still going on, might as well rectify instead of future regret. Anyway, the story goes ... the sink was mounted on the window side, leaving the space under the laundry system for the washer - that's fine. but problem is we will be getting a dryer, which will be mounted above the washer. So in this case, we will not be able to pull out the laundry system. At first we still accepted the mistake, argument is since we are using a dryer, then no need to hang clothes right? but after some serious thinking, thought it a ridiculous idea - what if there is a need in future? by then it will cost alot more to rectify. hence the decision to redo the entire washing area. As for yr question on the flow of water from the washer, don't know yet esp now since gonna change again. But contractor left a pipe which was supposed to be connected to the washer outlet, so that water can be drained off into the concealed drainage. Hope that makes sense?
  15. hi 15may can I check wherre you place yr washiing machine? On the gap between the yard window and pipe? or on the side between the pipe and laundry system?

  20. Wed, 1 Sept 2010 Today we went to Hommage, SnC (but was closed) and a few furniture shops within the nearby housing estates - in search for wardrobe/bookshelf/study tables for our girls. Hommage - Eric is really friendly, and chatted on with us even after we have finished looking through the catalogues. We were able to find a wardrobe and bookshelf to our liking, but the only setback is that he does not carry alot of study tables. Think their speciality is really in the dining hall furnishing, which they do offer quite attractive prices. SnC - closed, so disappointed. But went to the shop nextdoor. Prices there are not competitive though. Upon reaching home, we got a flyer from Novena, with lots of items going at "Fr $99". Dunno real or not, anyway will pop by and have a look tomorrow. ...... So sian, after looking and thinking, looking and thinking, we finally realised that we had done a big mistake ... the service yard sink had been mounted on the wrong side. So now have to spend $$ to hack it off, and redo on the side away from the window. Hopefully the sink will not be damaged during the hacking Hai, really feel like banging my head on the sink!! And after much consideration, also decided that glass door is no go -- too costly. Plus, given that the door frame does not allow for a frameless glass door, we decided to drop the idea altogether. So it's back to wooden door. One big round and back to square one, .... ........ Tomorrow - aircon installation!
  21. hey leitmotiv thanks, but in the end we decided to let contractor handle it. He is not keen to "jia" if we get direct supplier, but we are not keen to sub out to yet another party - fear that if something goes wrong, there will be finger pointing and lots of headache, so in the end, we just swallow and pay more for contractor to do all
  22. wah, not just ex toilet, but also ex water bill
  23. yr contractor is really nice - very practical and help cut down $$
