but on a serious note, u really should consider Mr Chew. Very patient, efficient pair who gives good recommendation, price very reasonable too. On my highly recommended list

actually will there be any concerns with overlay? Like possible probs after xx yrs etc? Can overlay again? -
still, considering the amount of things we did not have that FV2 has ... cannot help feeling a bit over charged
-
actually I think price is really not too bad. Our reno came up to 40k ... most ex i think kitchen - same for us hack wall and all we only hack one small wall but need PE then false ceiling for living and bedroom same hack wall for one common room to make into study and WIW did not do but only had standard wardrobe in mbr window + grilles for service yard we have no grilles shoe cabinet no shoe cabinet study table no table living feature wall + consoles no feature wall, no console, but just a simple box and wood panels mbr console as above mbr toilet vanity cabinet + mirror + shower screen only shower screen in toilet so u see why I say yrs is good price?

have been living with a messy hall for the last few days, ... finally got down to working on it .. and here's the final product, with the two cushions from the very popular Mr Chew so what do you guys think? Is it too much of an overkill?

cement screed wall? wow, nice! So this kind of wall is its natural colour - no need to paint? btw u happen to know or not since u like ID in the making - toilet floor can do nice cement screed? thought 3 yrs down the road, I will tear down the tiles in the toilet and just screed the floor so no worries about grout and stuff -
congrats, kerio. the carpentry stage is always the one when we can see lots of things happening in the house!

have always had this question about keyless system. ok, no key for main door, but what about the gate? You don't lock the gate? and no padlock? at one stage, we were also debating about getting a digital lock for the maindoor so that we do not need to carry keys around, but since we still need keys for the other two, we sort of concluded that we will still need keys, hence dropped the idea.

wow, nice tree. Believe it or not, we have never ever had a tree for christmas. Always need to go to those big shopping centres in town to get a shot with the trees.

no, not stupid at all. It makes sense to think about it, just that when we were at the reno stage, sometimes do not know what to look out for. Luckily, our contractor did it nicely for us ..

Hi marshmellow so funny reading yr update. Believe it or not, I actually went in to the link to read about the height discussion - thought can find someone shorter than me - but still lose out to u by 1cm!?!? you are quite right about doing things according to yr needs rather than following standards .. me a classic eg of things being too high. So now need the ikea stool in my kitchen. Is yr hubby tall?

Hi banned very nice place u have - at first I thought they are 3D pix, so I think yr Id did a good job! Are yr walls and laminates textured? Looks so from the pictures and ... I really envy the space u have! Definitely can accommodate big groups for parties! -
hi teamktm welcome and congrats for the start of yr reno! 30k for such alot of work seems really attractive! I like yr choice of kitchen colours too!

hmm .. that makes me a bad seller, bc I refused to let the buyer reno ahead of the completion date. Although there is a standard indemnity form, I believe it only serves to protect HDB. If nothing happens, good. If something happens, the form states very clearly that both buyer and seller and jointly responsible .. Why risk?

wah banned, you gonna to reveal one pix a day hah? Later our neck all become like ET -
not just that. I find that the way the flats are built, the shelter = no shelter. Regardless of how I try to siam the rain while walking in the void deck area, I still get wet, and needless to say, shoes too. and how about a sheltered walkway from the LRT to the flats. Rally for one with the election coming?

ya, it's lucky that our reno are generally smooth going. Quite scary when I read of those terror IDs and contractors who fail to deliver. Money lost aside, I can imagine the owner's anguish - new house supposed to feel happy, yet marred by these people! Really no ethics!

Hi Flamedav, Bearlyn and Banned you guys sound like "kite flying" experts. Can dispense some advice on how to choose a kite for amateurs? Saw those roll up type in the shops, are they good and easy to fly? The other weekend, we saw families flying kites in the park opposite the cc, looks really fun. Think that will be our next picnic destination. It's been such a long time since our last picnic ... and camping, and outdoor BBQ. Wow, I miss those days!

Sorry it's a long time ago when she told me - now totally cannot recall, but I know she got from ocean granite though. They are at balestier, might want to check out that place. If you are also considering marble, they have marble slabs too - very nice - but nice price to pay also.

Does it really help - I mean the newspapers for the mirror and glass? I tried a few times before, but think ended up making some scratch marks plus a pair of very dirty and oily hands. I have since turned to using the magic clean glass cleaner - the girls love to play with that and the wipers! Wrap veg - my mum used to do that. But nowadays, veg are packed in plastic bags, so I just store the bags directly. Besides, I don't have the habit of buying too much veg, just one pack to cook for today and another for the following day. Limited storage space so let the supermarket do the storing for me. cockroach - hope they don't visit me yet, and forever and ever!
