quote name='jaskel' timestamp='1302839708' post='629645'] Maybe is was due to my experience with those cheap china light bulbs (maybe bad luck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />). I have 1 house owner brought lighting from lightings.com.sg...less than a mth, 6 light bulb blown and at different times. So imagine I went down to lightings.com.sg to change it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bangwall.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="bangwall.gif" /> moreover they are from philips but made in china. Come to a point that I was so fed up and buy the bulbs at nearby electrical shop, same from philips but made in Holland. But the rest of the light bulbs from china is ok, so it boil down to the QC standard and luck. Haha.. Tat sounds like us!

Make a police report, is yr best case. Coz for debt collecting companies and even banks, u get their e-mail address, tell them u want to e-mail them the police report, and then cc SPF, MP and ICA, usually, they wun send anymore after tat. For loansharks, can't help u, but I think u can go to yr MP and complain and bang table, insist that the SPF shd arrest the person who nv change address to be put in jail? That is provided the SPF will do tat, by which u can remind them abt the National Registration Act whereby ppl who shift out muz change address within 28 days (which I think most ppl who are avoiding banks and loansharks will not do).

I beg to differ on pt 2, from my experience. SPF and ICA will not take any actions, all they will do is play tai chi, pushing the responsibility to each other. No actions had ever been taken for not changing address, at least not reported in the papers. Pt 3 is quite useful, at least in my case. No letters from legal creditors after sending them a copy of the report and pasting the police report outside my house. Hope the peaceful days will last! If the problem persists, I will be gg to my MP and the idiots will get into trouble, esp those working in govt bodies..

A Resale Owner's Worst Nightmare
jeffcraze replied to neubie's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
In some cases, it's juz a matter of whether the police wants to "help" or not. I think the biggest problem is that those ppl who uses their previous address to borrow from loansharks, legalised or illegal ones, and refuse to change their address! Even with our National Registration Act in place, I personally think it is all for show only. Why I say tat, coz of my encounters, whereby ICA pushes to SPF, say they (ICA) can't arrest those ppl who nv change their IC address within the stipulated 28 days. What is this?! I sincerely believe that more ppl will be aware and scared by the fact that they WILL REALLY be put in jail if they didn't change their address after moving out from their old flat, IF & ONLY IF there are cases publicised in the papers of ppl caught and put behind bars for not changing their address, according to the Act. If not, I dun think there will be any end to the crap that ppl has to endure. -
Means every rental agreement, whether is it for a room or the whole flat, muz get stamped?
