I like cool daylight, my current place yellow light is making it hard for me to see if my cooking is color A or color B. . I wonder if the lights fixing in the center rather at the end or the front will look funny? True also. I will just add this as the item for them to do. This shouldn't be too ex right? If my memory dun fail me, that is the exact color of my top hung cabinets!

No lah.. I see you do alot of homework leh, much more than moi at least .. Guys! They everything dun wan dun need, see liao use liao at other pple's place then come back and say want this and that. Oh we are bringing over our king size mattress, Tv and sound system, maybe our fridge and some others that we can reuse. Use till spoil den buy new one, like tat not so sim tiah. Like that our output can be controlled and stretch over afew months or years before buying.

Yeah, we do not really need an ID, but we just pop in to submit as it was along the way to our fave claypot rice place. . My CFO would prefer to have logical groupings like false ceiling and electrical and painting into 1 point of contact and carpentry in another. Since we have not gotten our keys, we still have time to source for the cheaper but reliable sources. Also the RT Liao Jiaos mein and their blogs help me alot in sourcing for certain items and their comments are invaluable lah. Cool, the work required for yours and the quote provided is really reasonable and managable. But I have strong believe that the cost will not go too high with your sourcing skills and the reviews of the contractor u getting. My CFO said my 22k budget is including reno, finishings, electrical stuff. Maybe when time comes with the visual inspection of the house he will be more gian to top up.

I have to admit we have not been actively meeting ID/contractors/sub contractors for the passed week or so. Our mode operati is in the form of emails and phone calls for the initial contact. As our scope is pretty small, many contractors I have approached did not return with any quotes. . Nevertheless, I will just stick with the ones I have. Based on the existing pool of quotes I have, sans the lights(we told them we will do our own purchasing) and granite top for the bay windows (going to the supplier directly and a psfr is below 100), they ranged from 7k+ to 9k+. I have to say the most cost ineffective or boh chup quote I have gotten is from submit design, which the bulk goes into ascetics rather than practical. Imagine them quoting me the use of laminated wood for my toilet bay window which will get wet every time when someone bathe! doing a false ceiling when i mentioned repeatedly I want a ceiling fan for my living room. The worse was the tv console, which i said I do not like feature walls and I want to build some storage there. The so called design they gave was a suspended tv console with little storage, and a super duper expensive feature wall with glass cabinets on each end for display pieces. Anyway i threw away their quote. Impress21 was pretty okie, but I felt that there are some areas where they had put the cookie cutter mold, like feature wall (again!) and charging certain things pretty expensive. But they do have other things which are cheaper. So far Hup Lam furniture got back to us based on our measurements and the items requested. The carpentry quotes was the cheapest among the ones we received. But the rest of the items is more expensive. We are still pending a few more quotes, so we are just doing our summary of each quotes before deciding our course of action. Our furnishings are more or less settled where we would want to buy from, left the electrical appliances to scout around. We can only buy them when we have the keys to our house and measure each area. For curtains we have identified a few mobile curtain maker recommended in RT and some shops along Joo chiat area. I think our goal of total cost of everything not more than 22k seems to have a ray of hope.

Yeah, If you go for block out, must check if the block out is machine washable or dry cleaning only. There is another kind which is the dim out curtains which is about 90% blockout and washable. Do check on the width size of the roll. The longer the width the more expensive, but of course no join lines nicer. Is the day curtains organza or normal cotton?

position chair and folding chair is okie to me, just buy hallo and put on the chairs will be super comfy and not so old -fashion? I was interested in the plastic rattan or wicker, but was told if 1 of the weave is cut or broke for whatever reason, the whole weave will get unraveled. so we decided to go the normal hardwood chairs and table.

I think there are 2 types of roller blind, the day ones that allow lights in and the night ones. Maybe the day ones have patterns? Eh, Mr Chew must also do nice nice for all also! I think as long as we dun expect too him to do the curtains asap like within 1 week type we all should be able to kiv him bah. After handover you must take picture of every nooks and corners for us to see. Then put before and after, sure CLC will have to pay u commission for advertising for them liao.

Cool! the price of the outdoor items in ikea is around my budget! But is the wood lasting? So far i know about chengai and teak for outdoor wood though. I remember going to SL tower! Very dodgy place, but then the components are cheaper than SL SQ.

Cool! I am going to KIV MR Chew for my curtains liao! Must update on the quality and workmanship hor!

How big is the shoe cabinet, i dunno if it is the angle or is it pretty small. For me I think my poor hubby will not have any place to put his shoes in that cabinet. I think dark grey for the Lbox and sewage cabinets are good, cos u going to cook and no matter how good your hood is, some oily fumes will find its way up. Also too white makes it looks like i am going to a lab.

My hubby wanna elfa-ize all the possible storage area, eg the yard and store room. And howards is the sole supplier in SG.. No competition.
-
Do they add distance from 1 place to another into the cost?
-
How about re-vanishing all wood decking the same color? possible?
-
You can try diy buying the decking tiles yourself, like hua hng, http://www.huahng.com.sg/ their website under online catalogue -> wooden and bamboo product they have interlocking bamboo tiles at $8 per piece. They also have balau wood at $7 per piece and chengai at $15 per piece. The tiles quoted to me are in 30cm x 30 cm size. My hubby is tempted to diy himself.

Wow, i have thought barang barang is like pretty established shop in SG. Anyway If you wanna go for teak wood, might as well go to the teak factories like pagoda teak and wholesale teak. I saw the coffee table (1msq size) that I like selling around the same price as ply wood vender type of coffee table in neighbour hood or courts or ikea.

Congratz!!! Good day to be born too.

Love the curtains! Are they all blockout and organza day curtains? I saw that u have used suntec curtains. How would u grade their services, and is their tracking and sewing good?
-
Actually that is what I am thinking also.
