  1. LOL, I purposely use small words but too bad u saw. LOL... We buy LED downlights in bulk so got discounts lah. 1 house already need like 30 liao for me, so can ask for cheaper. The air freight and exchange rates not good lah. But overall, still cheaper. I only decide to buy the crystal lights after I see how pretty led crystal lights can be , but the cost savings is not so great for these lights. Buy in SG still better as you can see the product before buying. reuben it cost S$350. I added more crystals to lengthen the crystals effect and paid $30 extra. I think you go there and see. They got 1 BIG square crystal light with LED mood lights. That one about $600. You should go down and take a look. They have others not hung or just photograph catalogs. They can do minor customisations, eg changing some helogen to led lights or add more crystals etc, but they charge these changes pretty reasonable.
  2. LOL!! The sparkling effect of the shade and crystals very nice right. The LED effects sama sama with helogen liao, y wanna buy helogen when u know need to change the bulbs very 6mths or so. I only need 1 crystal light the living room will be a fan. My MBR only down lights loh. We did not want to spend too much on lights also, the price suits us so we just buy it and dun think so much also! not my fault that sammy's reno cost increase again hor! LED lights nice mah, my house all LED even the cove lights, except for service area and storeroom lights we just use the normal round 2 energy saving bulb type.
  3. I got this LED light also!!!! Great minds think alike!!! . Anyway I paid 30 bux extra to lengthen the crystals and to have a more distinctive V. I told Alex I wanted to have the effect V effect similar to the one with crystal shade. Anyway it is the cheapest LED lights i can find so far. I think the extra savings can go into buying a new PS3 hor.
  4. I got something similar from casa italy in black full leather and 3 seater type without the lounge. I like sofa without much pattern cos those with more sewing patterns means smaller pieces of leather sewn together and thus more point to wear and tear.
  5. LOL.. yeah loh so ez hor... The lights we wanted is more expensive in lightings.com so we just heck. The lights are bought online and air freight to SG. It is more expensive than normal down lights lah but it is almost 1/2 the price u can get in SG (shop dependent). The fan is for my living room. We are thinking of having 52" to 56" type of fan. The other option is alpha or franco. We want black color or dark grey color fan without light.
  6. There is no fury like Sammy's Fury !!
  7. The PS3 is from lucky draw rite? So many pple buy must fight with them for a chance. Why not comparing prices first. Who knows, the savings for all your lights can buy you 1 PS3. I have bought most of my LED down lights from china. I only buy 4 big round energy saving lights for toliets and balcony ($32 each) and 1 pendant led lampshade + crystals design dining light ($380) from them, I have added extra crystals so that it . Most prob we getting a KDK 56" sensor ceiling fan (360 isit ex?) from them. If I remember right, they do not do installation, but they will recommend pple to do the installation. lightings.com.sg charges 1 transportation trip and first installation at $35 and subsequent others at $7 if I remember right.
  8. Sammy can go to A lighting Enterprise (Geylang lor 25) Mrs Lilith was telling us about. The prices cheaper den lightings.com.sg and free delivery. They do some minor customisation. Mrs Lilith, pace will pick up liao bah, did B&E get back when is the est HO ?
  9. you can try ocean granites. They do customisation and installation works. http://www.oceangranites.com.sg/og/products/marbles_01.shtml
  10. Congratz ah, wish you smooth smooth and fast fast reno so that everything can be completed swee swee and HO afew weeks earlier. I think all of us going to start soon. I should be getting my keys by next week and should start my reno by mid June. Hopefully mine will complete by mid July.
  11. Try sim lim tower NOT square level 3. There are like 4 to 5 shops selling led bulbs of different shapes and sizes.
  12. Hm, I walked pass Song Cho so many times but haven gone in before. I think it is time to go in and take alook. Any other shops selling the same things but at a cheaper price?
  13. LOL, how about purpletini?? I practically ask for discounts for ALL my purchases, either that or haggle for some free gifts also good. LOL . Guys ah, if afew 10s of dollars will say nevermind no big deal. . Sammy, how about hanging your towel areas, and any electrical points in the toliet for hair dryer or shavers? If you or ur hubby have a habit of washing face in the basin, I think ur top cabinet must be slimer as the pic shows a pretty deep top cabinet, but then like that cannot store much things.
  14. This is what was explained to me by my contractor. The usual thickness is 0.5 or 0.8mm. If the plywood board is not really tat smooth, when u glue the thin laminates, it will take contour of the plywood board. For non gloss laminates this is not so much of a concern cos the uneveness is hardly noticable, but for gloss pieces it is like looking into a mirror and the reflection will appear wavy. To reduce this effects, thicker laminates, >1mm are used. The thicker the less dependent on the even-ness of the plywood board surface. The down side is u have visible joint lines. This means u have to invest in edgings to give u a better finish(correct me if i am wrong). As I want thicker high black and white gloss laminates and these 2 colors are the most unforgiving for warping effect, my contractor has suggested formica. Else for non gloss laminates he told me 0.8 good enough, and can use his no brand laminate book to find the designsi like. For many laminates brand they come in normal and post form (I only know can use for counter top or table). Like wat Simon said, thicker laminates helps that much only, end of the day it really depends on the person who install it. So far i read jennings and formica has abit of scratch resistance built into the laminates. I do not know about the rest though. My main carpentry will be on the tv console so we decided to invest more on it.
  15. Only Formica have 2mm or thicker. But this is only for my tv console actually, as I wanted a black and white full gloss piece. My contractor said need thicker laminates or else he won't wan to attempt to do with Black or White solid gloss at least he tell us lah... My MBR we are using almost normal thickness of 0.8mm and we want to use those laminates with textured wood effects. I think i saw in one of my contractor's Laminate books. He also show us the cost of those non branded ones to show us the price difference of different laminates.
  16. Haven leh. where is that search engine ah.. I haven go see formica also. I go see liao then i decide.
  17. I wonder if there is a difference if I use EDL or Formica, and which is cheaper. I may want to try their 2mm glossy.
  18. nono u go take picture show pinktini lah.. like tat visual say 1000 words liao.
  19. Wah, now i know y sammy's reno cost $$++ after the 3d came up. LOL.
  20. How about having both, maybe for kitchen, solid surface and for vanity granite, or vice versa. Good granite and solid surface is around the same pricing, so just go with the best fit for usage purpose. Personally I like indian granite like black galaxy and using them cos I had a pretty okie price with it. but that is me.
  21. A Lighting Enterprise (geylang lor 25) prices are pretty good, better than lightings.com. You can give Prima or Premier lighting a miss, they mark up their price more than 2x for the same items sold other places. Light Advance opp Vlux sells pretty nice lights, but i have no idea if the have good after service or not.
  22. wah.. my url for sammy stuck! maybe we should try doing www.asksamgalz.com in afew threads, see will there be response for all.... nono bery bad. Give us teasers also....
  23. Sim Lim towers selling LED downlights below 100 buxs, there are quite a number of shops to check out too. They are at level 2 and 3. The lighting shops charging an arm and leg for just 1 led downlight, can practically give them a miss for the time being. Lightings.com.sg charges 3 mr 16 in 1 casing cost S$95. At sim lim towers at S$85.
  24. Congratz! You can finish fast fast liao and have ur dream soak in the tub while we eye green green.
