yea i'll probably do that after i get this weekend's photos. i already rotated the photos on my pc then uploaded them, then they all went back to unrotated.. sigh... thanks for the advice and i really hope photobucket is better.. lol..

i seriously hate imageshack. 20 mins spent rotating the images, and they don't show up as rotated when im logged in. Now the thumbnails here are properly rotated, but the big image isn't... just what is wrong with it?

Time flies.. Its over a month since i updated my T-blog. Well, i have finally decided to settle with Summit Design and renovation works have started since last Monday, but only had time to sneak a peek last night. Pretty good progress i would say. The flooring is almost all done, except 1 bedroom, balcony and all the skirting. Window films have all been removed and i should say, the windows never looked better! no more bedroom doors, no more bathroom doors, no more kitchen door, even my main door has been dismantled for tiling purposes.. lol.. Photos coming up in the next few posts.. night shoot with a lousy iphone camera though.. Must try for a day shoot this coming weekend.. hehehe

ah... back from a week without updates.. received 2x quotations today.. one from wifey's friend contractor, colours creation, and another from my boss's ID, De Marque Espace surprisingly this contractor is rather expensive, first rough quote @ 32k.. boss ID feels extremely professional and efficient @ 30k, so tempted to sign on with them, but its a 5k difference from the one i wanted to get previously.. boss says this ID has done all his previous homes, and even his office and he's very satisfied hence recommend to me... but 5k is still 5k.. dilemma : is it worth 5k more to get a known reliable ID, or to take my chances to save this 5k for a home that i have to stay for a minimum period of 5 years... sigh.. i need more opinions!!

Update on IDs! Joy, previously from Space Defined, has left the company and will be joining a main contractor company starting next week.. no idea what company yet.. But apparently she has done up some previous works as an ID. She does give a pretty good impression, being very efficient and stuff, but there's always the worry of the carpentry and work quality of her new company. We shall wait and see. Alexis from Summit Design Studios has come up with a very nicely priced revised quotation, although still need to revise one more time. Their showroom layout is pretty decent, managed to see a very nice 180degree casement glass door for our kitchen entrance.. hehe i'll say that they are the first company to be shortlisted! Yay~ Just 2 more contractors to go and hopefully we'll be able to make a decision soon enough. Must finish renovation and deliver new furniture/appliances and move in before lunar 7th month.. Feels like a long time more before 10th August, but worried about delays.. That's all for today~

sure thing! But does your direct contractor do other works as well i.e like a main contractor? Im looking for someone who can manage the whole scope of works.. Could you please pm me your contractor? TIA

Looks like meeting with Kennedy from Earnest Interiors didn't bring about any surprises.. Kinda disappointed as he feels slightly uninterested about the budget reno.. prob coz he can't do designs.. Doesn't have good in-depth knowledge in my opinion too.. Ah well, Joy from Space Defined Interior coming up tomorrow! We shall see, we shall see.. The search for the budget renovation ID/Contractor shall end this week! Really hope i can get a decent price for the works i want to do so i can just settle once and for all..
-
haha thank you hopefully can get a nice and cheap and good contractor/ID.. Good luck sourcing for one too! hehe
-
o.O why'd they paint the main door for? shouldn't it be revarnished instead? hmmm.. and at least you have the option to keep the tiles if you like them.. hehe, if not then no choice have to hack away.. $$$ fly away~

yup sale of balance flats it is. Did u manage to see the photos of the flat interior? What u see should be what u get .. although i was hoping for another unit, but queue no.9 so .. at least we got ourselves a flat
-
yup i did see the thread on *, but decided to give it a try as most people found it cheaper than others.. Well, it was definitely a surprise for me when i received my quotation, which is way higher than the others i went to. :S Going to give them a miss, as apparently they see me like a huge carrot.. lol.. Coming up tomorrow evening, Kennedy from Earnest Interiors! Have a feeling it would be decent, but not ideally budget enough.. Just have to go through the notions i guess to see if he has any surprises for me.. hehe

Is This Compressed Marble?
Louischen replied to Louischen's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Thanks for the prompt reply Asoon88! Oh so the original material and composite are normal.. hehe.. I don't know why, but i just can't find any information about compressed marble tiles made like this. Regarding the laying, some have mentioned that this tile has to be layed like homogenous tiles, while some say can lay like marble with a very small gap. hmm.. i wonder.. Then about the marble top layer, i know marble is a porous material. But i read that compressed marble tiles has this layering thing done over it so it can withstand stains much better than actual marble tiles. Is that true? And also, can this tile actually be be waxed/polished? taking into consideration that the actual marble layering on it is thin. Was scared by my colleague earlier when he mentioned all the problems of using white compressed marble tiles.. But i really love the white color.. sigh.. Mayb i shall go look around for an alternative homogenous tile.. Real marble is way too expensive -
Recently I chose a pure white tile , and was told that it was made of compressed marble @ $7 psf. Basically this tile is made of 2 layers, 1/4 of the tile surface is the so called compressed marble, the remaining 3/4 is homogenous material. What i would like to know is , are all compressed marble tiles made this way? What sort of problems would I be facing if I were to use this tile? Should this tile be laid like homogenous/ceramic tiles, or like marble with nearly no gap? What about discolouration, yellowing and cracks? Really hope some experienced forumer can enlighten me on the above issues. TIA Louis

Just met Adrian from CJ ambience in the evening.. Quite a professional chap i would say.. After some discussion and revision of the quote of works, final quoted price = $28k.. Kinda out of my budget when its not inclusive of electrical work and I'm the one providing the floor tiles for living, kitchen & 3 bedrooms.. s sigh.. Oh well, there's always the next one to look forward to..

Kitchen pardon the non-rotated picture, and those coming up. I have tried to rotate the same picture 3 times, and everytime after saving, it comes out without any changes..
