This kind of device uses a big capacitor to lower the initial drawing of current from electric motor. But then, most modern electric appliances already have some form of voltage regulator build-in. So unless you have a lot of electic fan or washing machine in your house, I don't see any help from this. I would suggest to just switch off the mains of appliances which you are not using. This helps to reduce vampire power consumption due to the circuit standby mode. You will see the effect at the end of each month.

Inspect your main switch box, there should be 15A, 20A, 35A switches inside. Use the larger one for your device.

You can try those 5GHz Video Audio wireless transmitter & receiver with build in IR Sender. Then you can use back the SCV remote to control from your bedrooms. But then the video quality not as good as HDMI. May have interference with WiFi router or microwave oven.

I installed mine for $230 from Ebay. It's Samsung EZON SHS-2020. Can use RFID card as key. But no remote.
