Conservancy Fee For Hdb
marshmallow replied to slbk's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Jurong TC's SC & C is more expensive than those nearby (e.g. Holland-Bukit Timah) but the estate is definitely not as clean as them~ From Jurong TC: 5room - $64.70 4room - $51.60 3room - $39.50 really dunno how they justify the price~ -

May's home should be very safe since she has so many pandan plants downstairs........ -
oh i see! what a luxury to have such extra empty space in HDB! sigh no choice. due to the odd placement of everything from windows to toilet door to weird columns in my MBR, that's the only space we have for wardrobe and this 5.5ft is shared between 2 of us~
-
oh, the boss said the length will be adjusted according to the space available, but maximum is 2m for their standard manual model. so for 1.5m, they will simply cut the poles shorter and adjust the SS frame accordingly this mecha is champion siah!
-
can one... after going to sleek's place, some to mine and see the miserable 5.5 ft wardrobe, then you'll be happy again. hahahaha

Thanks for the tips Ely i'll see if i should grow some catnips at home i'm already using a flat rubbish chute but still doesn't stop them from coming in, esp after chute fogging, despite all the necessary measures taken (seal chute with masking tapes, closed windows, etc) actually i'm not scare of cockroaches... i can even handle them alive with my bare hand it's the *whisper* hubby that is very scared. Shhhhhh... don't let him know i talk about this part of him here.... looks like have to visit Daiso again soon. sometimes i have headache after going Daiso, cos the place is so big, with so many stuff and i often am just there to look for 1 or 2 items........ > < -
mine is installed perpendicular to the windows, cos the poles can be longer... but mine is at one side of the kitchen not in the centre, so there is no problem for the ceiling lights... like you said lor if parallel to the windows, will be very cramped~ esp when i am using the retractable hanger (manual), i'll have to retreat to the toilet when i wanna pull up/down the hanger~ of course, not an issue if you're paying for the remote control one~ wahahaha i guess we are quite similar in this aspect... i have my fair share of stories on terrorizing (inconsiderate) pple on MRT... hahaha
-
aiyo nothing much la, hope the info helps~ and if anyone comes across better deals, do share here! and oh bro, one thing i almost forgot - your unit is on top floor, rite? the hanger requires drilling to the ceiling, we heard from the installer that for top floor units, certain parts of the ceiling would be harder to drill, and hence require some adjustment of the hanger location if sui-sui where you want to install is at those "hard to drill" places~ dunno how accurate his statement is, but you might just wanna take note and bring up for discussion with the vendor~

bro does this plant really helps? easy to maintain? i'm getting some xiao qiangs at my place recently and we highly suspect they're from our upstairs/downstairs neighbours. i can be armed with baygon or what not but there's no way i can storm into their homes to hunt down the cockroach nests~ -

wow no walls and door! sis you're GOOD~ moisture can be a real concern like what May mentioned. guess i'd share what i saw in fellow forumer Yumiko's place~ you can see her floor plan here. she has a L-shape wardrobe covering the length of the MBR bathroom. the wardrobe is very close to the bathroom so moisture is surely an issue. what she did was - she installed a ventilation fan in the bathroom. the result was surprising pleasant and the bathroom can be dried very fast. she doesn't have a dehumidifier at the wardrobe. so far the wardrobe has been good (but it's other parts of her house that had mold problem~ ) the downside is - the bathroom only has one window, so with the ventilation fan, she can't open the window. but if sleek's bathroom is like mine, there should be 2 window panes, so 1 can be closed for installation of ventilation fan and the other can be kept opened~ so sis you may wanna consider this idea~ dehumidifier can be bought anytime, but it's better to install ventilation fan during reno if one wants to~ -
wow you managed to unearth my very old t-blog~ okie, it's a sign that i should do some updates... which is long overdued~

23ft!!! mine is just 5.5ft... not even as long as one side of your "U"~ envious envious!! so btw, where will the dining place be relocated to?

Position Of Ceiling Fan
marshmallow replied to moissanite2's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
i'm right now sitting on my sofa and enjoying the breeze from the ceiling fan. it is some 1m away from my sofa like what bepgof mentioned, if there are some "barriers" (for e.g. if there is a beam between the ceiling fan and the sofa), then the fan can't be as effective as it should. hope this helps -
usually laundry hangers are sold in shops specialised in them. see my signature... got it from a shop in IMM. i can PM you more detail if you need

by the time you reach the target number, the earlier sets will be old and you may need new one again! the cycle never ends hahahaha actually the perspex can't keep cockroaches leh. they can climb, can fly, and can squeeze through the very narrow gap below the door............ -
i couldn't walk past it cos it was blocking the lift door.... smart cat... surely knows where's the best spot to stand~ hmmmmmm could it be becos you're very fair? the usual ugly ones come in stainless steel version too (like those you see in shopping centre toilets). i guess that's the best we can get......

many pple staying in corridor units got perspex sheets at the bottom part of the main gate, to prevent water splashing in when the cleaners clean the common corridor with water spray but your unit has a raised entrance rite? at least it is not facing directly at the corridor, so not so bad
