i think polishing parquet is very dusty... more dusty than your reno dust now~ maybe others can advise better~ actually if those area below carpentry is not polished, i won't be concerned cos you can't see anyway
-
this light is interesting... hee

there is a coating of sealer on top of granite... it's hard to say how hard is rubbing hard enough to cause damage~ so better not to use anything abrasive... although we know that granites are hard and can take a lot of abuse. guess the best practice is to use water + cloth~ http://www.countertopspecialty.com/granite-counter-top-care.html

wow wow the lemon cake and muffin looks yummy~ how i wish i can bake like you!!

May, melamine cleaning sponge is an abrasive cleaner... it shouldn't be used on granite~ induction hob is different becos it's glass surface... i also replied in gimz's thread before - if you use melamine cleaning sponge on chrome surfaces, it is nice and shiny at first, but over time the chrome finishing will turn grey due to the abrasive action. that's why i also stopped using cif for all my chrome toilet accessories~

wahahahaha we always invite ourselves to his place...

LOL i think my MP will faint if i really do that..... actually i was suspecting that the plastering mentioned in the rule could be different from what we are doing now, but dun have enough details on it to judge~

Changes In Cpf Minumum Sum From 1 July 2011
marshmallow replied to therat's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
again... by the time i reach 55, the min sum probably becomes $1mil liao it's going to be $131,000 it is already $123,000 currently. -
actually i just use a normal dry towel to dry the granite top... too troublesome to keep so many types of clothes at home~

hey sorry haven't been checking here these few days. Hari Raya gathering sounds good! i have never been to a Hari Raya house visiting before~ hahaha~ any food will be fine so long as it's food that you like white kitchen is okie de... my parents' kitchen has been a white one since the day i was born current kitchen was renovated 17 yrs ago, still fine! yea i hate the marks made when there are drops of water on the floor and feet happen to walk pass... dun even need dirty feet to leave marks... even clean feet also can cause that. sis, cannot use cif for granite la~ cif is an abrasive cream cleaner. just use water to wipe will do. like what Ely mentioned, it's important to keep granite dry as water leaves marks i just use water to wipe... only when the granite top is very dirty then i will use a bit of diluted dish washing liquid to get rid of cooking oil stain etc. but for the part that is no longer shiny... i'm not sure if you need your contractor to buff it again?

it's written in the guideline that plastering ceiling is not allowed (3rd point under "Examples of Renovation Work Not Allowed" in the link below). so i am just wondering what is the initial purpose of writing this rule, and why is this rule still around when everyone else is doing it? i bring this up time and again in the hope that someone can actually explain why~ http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoNotAllow?OpenDocument sigh. when i lived on 8th floor, there were no cockroaches. now i live on 11th floor, there are......... i'm just glad that i dun see centipedes... dun think i can live with them around!

yo... finally got light, can see things liao it's common for light bulbs and tubes to be faulty... that's why i bought all lights at the lighting shop downstairs, so no need to travel too far to get it change... for the balcony, it's okie to have bright lights... you'd appreciate it during cleaning can use standing lamps to create the cozy mood if you want to~ lights go dimmed with thick layer of dust? cannot be so kua zhang ba~ maybe can use a standing fan to blow the smoke away during bbq? more cooling for the bbq-ers also with carpentry coming in, you're in your last lap liao! hang in there~
-
there will be an end to the unpacking and dust, so hang in there~ it will be over soon! then you can enjoy your new home~ the feeling of being in your own home is priceless anyway, not too late to start using face mask now - better be late than never! hahaha i like all the cute icons too. used to have some few hundreds emoticons for my MSN until i stopped using ~2 yrs ago
-
yea lor but that time when i went to see, dun have those non-slip ones..... anyway, next reno la? maybe by then i can afford real wood so i do chengal decking or something like that? wahahahahaha there is someone on RT (bro coldflamez) using wood-like tiles for toilet, maybe the ones he used are shorter so can do the gradient easier? he was the one that advised me these tiles are slippery (which prompted me to check carefully during tiles selection) wow very cute~ i like~ was thinking exactly the same thing. great minds think alike hahahahaha~ ^5 hahahaha i thought you'd like Madrid more
-
bro you check Mickey's t-blog la. very nice and interesting home! http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24846 LOL my friends too busy to chat here but they do some research on RT we initially wanted these wood look-alike tiles in our bathroom to create the "resort" look, but was advised that these tiles tend to be slippery, so we dropped the idea... now i am still very "gian" to have these tiles... maybe next reno~

good to see you back... yes i miss you! *big hug* do take care as dust and unpacking is really bad when you have asthma. wearing mask during unpacking/cleaning does help. it can get a bit hot but definitely much better than having a bad nose or worse, asthma attack. postpone your pre-wedding PS la... anyway your wedding is in Dec, rite? you can do it as late as July or even August. get more sleep and be pretty for the PS~

My Dream Home@bk
marshmallow replied to May_dream1's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB BTO Interior Design and Renovation
hahaha my hubby observed that somehow, pple in this line seem quite long-winded - from contractor to sub-contractors... even down to the guy selling bathroom stuff~ sis you have said something that i always thought so but failed to put it properly in words reasonable doubts and questions are necessary, but i noticed many that are always suspicious over the contractors (e.g. is he going to makan me? is this too expensive? is he trying to smoke me? am i being short-changed?... the list goes on). in this kind of situation, the house owner usually won't trust any explanations given by the contractor and things can go a downward spiral.............. anyway, didn't realise it's a month already! time flies! mine is coming closed to one year too... can't believe it! -
bro, no need to present the photos nicely la, save your time and just put up here will do~ haha we had the same struggle for wall colours too, want darker "feature" wall colour for contrast but scared will be too dark etc... in the end, we decided which room we want it dark (e.g. MBR) and have the dark contrasting wall there. then for living room we figured it's more important to look bright and big, so we choose a colour that is less contrasting well said, my long-lost sis sometimes it just didn't occur to us that we are very fortunate if we can get a complete house? looking at the bright side is good, and actually helps to get things done cos no one likes to work with a grumpy person~ btw, csingeu, your balcony door looks nice... i think it's suitable for your resort theme~ looking forward to party at your place leh~

Hi XTR, induction heats up VERY fast. so fast that the first time i used induction hob, i got a real shock... gas hob will never be like that. but, but, if you have piped gas, i'll suggest you to stick with gas hob cos electricity is really costly my side didn't have city gas and we dun like LNG tanks, so we opted for induction~ but induction hob is really easy to clean... and easy to use too~ safer cos no burning fire etc... so still no regret getting it
