-
30" x 60"? that's a big mirror.... mine is $29 but smaller la... 35cm x 50cm i think.

hmmm where did you hear this from? from the furniture mall outlet? actually it was my hubby who read about the upgrading to leather. he said it's in the Calypso fan club thread but i didn't recall reading on this... hmmmmm nvm la~ i'm very happy with my Calypso now

*i think* it wouldn't stain so easily if you maintain properly... my parents' home is using marble counter top, white based one. marble should be more porous than granite le, but it's already been 17 yrs and still good~ mine is imperial black. if i remember correctly, black galaxy has more sparks in the granite which doesn't go with the overall look of my kitchen Henry went "wah don't take those sparkle sparkle one lahhh.... sooooo old fashion~!" really made me laugh hahahaha

hahaha the last time we "home-made" ikea meatball was back in school days... hahahaha haha who else coming?

okie i got 2 different replies when i visited 2 different outlets. 1st one: sales lady told me due to design of the sofa, definitely no way to do in leather. 2nd one: sales lady told me leather is possible, but can't get it in a package deal. (P.S.: we eventually bought from the 2nd one) we initially were very keen on having leather sofa, as hubby is scared of hot weather... almost dropped the idea of getting my Calypso becos we believed the 1st salesperson grrrrrr... only until much later then we read about someone upgrading to leather in renotalk... but by then we have already decided to get the Calypso we love, whether in leather or not so didn't even ask about how much to top up when we visited the 2nd time.

bro, this is very common among my frens and colleagues. they don't even earn $6.3k monthly and they definitely save less than $800. when i asked: don't you think you guys should save more instead of spending on cars, branded stuff, holidays at least 2x per year? where are you going to get $$ for house and wedding? they just stared at me blankly and said: but i really want to go holiday leh. these are pple with university degrees, at late 20s, not so young liao. one of them is already 28 yrs old, and doesn't even have 10k cash in bank account. i think the report is trying to send a message to those already earning a comfortable monthly income, but still everyday complaining about flats very expensive, income ceiling should raise etc etc. if the guy is earning $6.3k at 26 yrs old, this is VERY GOOD... i can't even smell that figure in near future, but i could save 40k in 4 yrs with a monthly salary 40% of his. it's a matter of priority - saving first or enjoying life first.

Ura Proposes Property Regulatory Changes
marshmallow replied to therat's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
hubby watched on tv last nite, that's what i heard from him... New rules try to ensure that shoe box units do not look bigger than they actually are. SGreans, being used to relatively large flats/apartments, may find the visually misleading show flats acceptable, but if they see the a more realistic depiction of these shoe-box units, many may drop the idea of buying one. -
i think he kenna many times that pple changed their mind after carpentry is up.... hahahaha sorry i dunno if you already replied and i missed it... how big a mirror do you need?

May, white/light-coloured granite is not available for most home reno contractors in SG. even the lighter ones will have "patterns". something like this: i would love to have something like this, but i just can't find it... and i was completely shocked that these are called white too : Ocean White: Rockville White: anyway, for those lighter colour granite i saw at various contractors' offices, they look kinda earthy and organic, so i feel it doesn't go well with your modern white/red theme, hmmmm a good choice for stones that matches your theme well would be quartz e.g. Caesarstone, which costs a BOMB but looks really PRETTY~ maybe you can pester your contractor to source the ideal granite for you... hee hee hee

you can try to ask them, they are generally quite accomodating to customers. but since yours is a package item, the dimension should be standardized so the change you want might be difficult without topping up $$, i think... no harm asking them what can be done and if the $ involved is not much, get it done to your liking for Calypso, i remembered that for the package deal, they only let you choose from the template of about 6 colours (can't recall exactly). some pple customized to other colours or materials with topping up of $~

sigh opposite from you, my COV is almost 2x of reno cost lor.... anyway, it's over liao.... hahaha i think one important thing in reno is that we should think less of being "chopped" by contractor/ID. of course, one should do his homework to know the appropriate market price etc, but if we keep calculating and thinking whether the contractor is taking advantage of us, it doesn't help reno process at all - in fact i feel this mentality makes pple more suspicious and cause the trust between contractor and house owner to erode... my $0.02 btw, on black granite - the black granite in my kitchen is one of the best things i've done in reno~ of course each material will have its pros and cons, but personal opinion is that problems with granite is not as kua zhang as what the pple are saying in that kitchen top thread... well i guess it depends very much on the user also~ pple said re-sealing needed every 6 months. my sis place's granite never re-seal for the past 13 yrs (i doubt they know what is re-sealing ) and it still looks great - no stain, damage etc. actually if you choose dark granite, can see stain meh? water marks will be there if the top is very wet and you never wipe at all... but as general, good housekeeping practice, you should never leave your kitchen top so wet la~ be it granite or solid top~ as for spillage/stain - frankly, say if you accidentally spill coffee on any table or kitchen top, what's your natural, immediate reaction? usually pple will clean it immediately mah... rite? if that's the case, there is really no issue on stain on granite... problem only comes for pple who leave it there for a long time and not clean it.... bro if you comes to my place, you can take a look at my black granite also btw my black granite is cheaper than good solid top e.g. Corian or LG.

chemical pickling is usually the surface treatment done by supplier/installer. i dun think that's something i wanna DIY cos not safe to handle if dunno how to use la... hahaha the dark patches on your stuff developed only after some use, rite? try Cif or those magic cleaning sponge from Daiso first i'm using Cif now~ did GR Link explain why should use water only?

hahahaha take it as advance rental payment for the next 10, or 20 years.... -
the irony is, all my colleagues are Singaporeans. i'm not one and yet i know! i also think kobelala's layout is better, though the kitchen seems to be smaller, maybe becos the balcony and study room are bigger? the balcony is really huge lor, as big as my common room~ kobelala, what's your floor area?

hey bro! i only have my Calypso for slightly less than 8 months, can't comment too much on the durability yet but on the other 2 aspects: Cushion: i think it's comfy enough for me, but if you are one who like those very plush and soft type of sofa, then Calypso may not be soft or "bouncy" enough for you you may also wanna buy more cushions on your own, on top of the 5 that they will provide together with the sofa. Maintenance: so far so good, hubby will vacuum the sofa ones in a while. and sometimes if unfortunately small speck of black dust from my ceiling fan landed on the sofa, can be cleaned off quite easily using cloths damped with detergent. i asked in the Calypso sofa thread before, other forummers said can wash the covers in washing machine, but i haven't tried that yet (lazy la! ) some more poison for you (if you haven't yet checked this thread ): http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23515
