that day my mom was just talking about my place, "your place got such spacious space outside, can do a mini garden, sure very nice...." my hubby immediately gave me that strange, cringed look sigh. but think planting things like mint, aloe vera, chilli padi etc is good... at least they are "functional" hahaha chilli padi get from wet market instead. NTUC needs to buy one packet $1.1. Uncle downstairs can sell me $0.3 worth of chilli padi -

i think you need to ask your daughter to check what seed is that leh... need to know the plant to understand the water requirement mint sounds good, easy to plant? yea plucking from own-grown herbs sounds good... machiam like a Jamie Oliver show LOL hahahaha yea our contractor is S size Henry, Royal Fanco one is XL size Henry. LOL -
May asked me to join her mah.... anyway, Singapore is so small, boon keng is not so far you're everywhere too mah... hee hee hee

the smallest packet i can find in NTUC is 1kg leh~ we only bake for 2 pple so we use quite little niah... and another thing is, i need to find a good sealed containers for all the sugars else the army of ants will start coming i'm thinking if it's okie to replace granulated sugar (normal ones) with icing/confectionery sugar? if can, i can eliminate one type of sugar at least. i only know the other way round cannot (i.e. use normal sugar instead of icing sugar).

okie okie i'll upload later when my boss is away for meeting.... *Shhhhhh....* btw, i tasted a few in my first batch, and i think i know why liao... seems like some have been over-baked so it doesn't taste so good (notably, some doraemons at one side of the baking tray has "darker complexion" than the rest ). Those with "fairer" skin actually tasted quite okie so in the end, i baked the 2nd batch without changing anything to the dough, but pay close attention to baking time and rotated the tray more often. Though some incident occurred.... shall talk about it later

my goodness.... it's a 440 pages thread.............

before we can dispose any trash in that trash bin, $200 will be disposed off from the wallet first keke $200 can buy 80 plates of chicken rice~ i like the way your bestie describes it... it's "rubbish" LOL hahahahahahaha....

think i wrote in one of the post before... general feedback from forumers is that SBH got larger selection but less designer-looking tiles, while Hafary has smaller selection but more designer tiles. For Hafary, need to go to the biggest showroom (Balestier i think). White Horse i'm not sure cos never visited. maybe sis Mae29 can comment on this hahaha i'm opposite from you... we changed the water saving type tap to normal type (so-called "non-water-saving") cos the flow from water saving type is pathetic~! i have Nobel tap in common bathroom and i felt the flow is too small~ LOL normal tap if want small flow, just turn tap a little to control flow and won't splash. for water saving type, it takes ages to fill a pot even if turn to maximum.... can fall asleep waiting hahahaha

wah where you managed to sell off so many stuff? btw, post some pics on your marble leh, i want to see~

what you pointed out here is very true, it's wise to spend more on permanent items that can't be changed easily in future some condos come with good furnishing... one may end up spending less cash upfront on condo as compared to HDB i've a friend who was able to just do painting on one or two walls (to colours she likes) move in immediately Experienced ID/contractors usually are able to produce a more complete quote, which may seem a bit ex to start with but definitely minimise the variation order in future

that sounds like a good idea... let's tell the rest about it~

wahahahahaha you have been waiting for very long is it~ pple usually paiseh to ask mah~ hahaha i've only been to Teban Garden twice in my life, and never step foot on Pandan Garden before! hahaha this will be a good chance for me to go there~ kekekeke i heard tea bags can do the job too... after making your cup of tea, dry the tea bags and put in fridge, and the rest of the steps are same as your cold spoon method~ but of course for tea bag, you need to buy first... cold spoon will be more economical cos no extra cost involved i see whether i'll have time to make... but WARNING: this will be the FIRST time i'm making chocolate cake so be prepared to become my guinea pigs muahahaha i'm glad to meet all of you here too... you know, i have a friend who met her husband on forum!

i think KitchenAid cheapest is ~SGD $700 (or high end of $600), sorry didn't do much research cos too ex for me May, i only remember (i think) footprint has one that is around SGD $600, ask friend to bring back from US or something.... but wonder how much is the freight cost? cos mixer is quite heavy leh........ btw reglxt, all the dividers you put up are very nice leh! dunno which one to choose~ hmmmm as a start, do you prefer light or dark colour?

i use Powerpoint, Photoshop or Picasa. Picasa is the easiest but they will crop all the photos to squares maybe you ask auntie to plant one extra pot just for you... LOL -
hahaha you know, when i called Mr Yeak in end Feb, he was already fully booked till July and when i called Henry also in end Feb, and eventually confirmed contract in March, mine was the last slot available for June renovation. so what you experience actually usually happen to popular contractors, need to book some 3~4 months in advance. like popular hotels for wedding, also need to book much earlier in advance if i remember correctly, someone earlier on already advised you to look for other contractors since Henry is busy. Anyway, if the contractor is not confident to take up your job and reject you, isn't it better for you, than one that just take on more jobs than he can and in the end cannot deliver? In any case, keep on looking, and all the best to your reno~

hmmmm lift upgrading makes your unit close to lift? hmmm your unit is door to door one? if door to door one, sure need fire-rated door. another way is, keep existing main door, just change lock set....
-
yea if the boon keng gang is gathering there one day, would like to go try the food and meet all of you lol
-
if you apply and they approve, means "Ah Gong" allows liao, not an issue hahahaha sometimes there are things that you can't think too much~ if for everything needs to find a date, you can't do a lot of things within schedule liao~ if you don't know a day is good or bad, you won't be worried about it~
-
yeap yeap most importantly, your hubby is fine simplehuman is not so simple afterall.... so ex btw, remember to check your plumbing (pipes, accessories etc). my plumber gave me LOTS of problem last time , already feedback to Henry not to use him anymore but i'm not sure if he's still around now~

no la not double standard... you should see my pipes to understand~ it's in front of the window, so if want to box up pipe, need to seal half the window~ and after box up, i only have like 40cm for basin, so the hands/arms will hit the box up when washing face at the basin sorry sorry if i could see i will know~ -
hey bro, sorry to hear about your experience. but i'm sure you have been talking to many other contractors and IDs while waiting for Henry's quote, and you will be able to move on immediately if Henry's response is too slow for you, rite? there could be many reason why he told you he can't take your job anymore within that 3 days. maybe there are other customers that signed contract with him in these 3 days so he won't be able to take your job anymore? you also can't expect him to put other customers on hold just to wait and see if you will confirm with him, rite? hey i don't really want to sound like i'm defending him, but i just hope to provide a different perspective here. i won't say we are here providing free advertisements for him. Pple like me, Supersimon, and other bros and sis in RT who had good experience with Henry are just here sharing his contact. it's up to individual to contact him and judge whether they want to take him up for their renovation. Sometimes, some pple just "click" with certain renovators, some pple just don't. So you have also seen many cases in RT, when some are extremely satisfied with a certain renovator while some are not. In the end, it's up to individual to do proper research, do their own judgement, and choose wisely based on their needs and budget. during my own reno, i talked to some 20 different contractors and IDs, only 8 have replied. Some got back within 3 days, 3 weeks, even 3 months. i understand it's frustrating to wait for so long, but this is a process that many here have gone through. Hope you can find "the special one" for your reno soon

oh ya oops i skipped the photos cos cannot see... go back and see at home then~ that's the "please tear along this dotted line" thing we were talking about rite? ya that's why my contractor actually advised us not to box up, cos it's going to cost a lot (due to the difficulty in boxing up) and makes the toilet smaller. He said "shower must feel good, cannot be so cramp de...." hahahaha~ and your mirror sliding door is a good idea... too bad my reno was before yours, else i'd probably copy that
