i also think 50mm drop quite standard from what i saw in other pple's house. bro maybe you can bring some photos example to show your contractor. if you have already mentioned previously that you wanted a drop-down, there is no reason for him not to do just becos he thinks the job is difficult~

i think it depends on which line your friends are in... i have plenty of friends who can afford high end condos and even landed property within 5~6 yrs of graduation... i'm not joking~ all are NUS grads. too bad my pay is just a fraction of theirs~ but can la... my fren just got her 5-room flat last yr, after working for 3 yrs (hubby worked for 2 yrs). combine income ~6k.

i think most if not all ceiling fans can go without lights, cos the lighting kit is just an add-on... but there are some fans that looks weird without a light in the middle. erm maybe you should state the source of your photos if they are from others...

we have the same microwave oven, same kitchen tap, same blue colour wall.... and same contractor, of course your place is so pretty!!! i wish mine is as nice!!

what do you mean by digital Channel 5, 8? i am using Starhub maxonline without cable TV, they supply a spliter - one side goes to cable modem, the other side goes to TV. hmmm for laundry... can you hang on the right hand side of the kitchen (refering to your kitchen photo)? looks like quite spacious there. hahaha i think i said before, my fridge is 358L... more than enough for us~ back in sis place when there were 3 of us and cook daily, the fridge also about that size. it really depends on your lifestyle... so far from the stuff bro Soichiro is buying, i think we are quite similar in terms of appliance size requirement... hahaha
-
or like flowerpod.... but our sales/promotion thread can be more focus... like only on electrical appliance, household stuff etc
-
aiyoooo you got your own thread to show off your photos and for us to drool over liao... save this space for your sis mah...
-
wahhhh thanks for the lobang! must UP maybe we should have a thread that gathers all the sales and promotion information in SG... LOL
-
i see i see... aiyo i'm really drooling over the kitchen....
-
wow very very very pretty!!!! i totally heart the kitchen! but in the first photo, the kitchen cabinet doors seem not even leh... is it the photo resolution issue after uploading? and that's a lot of downlights for living room!

haha the golden words came from May_dream~ whether PRC/Indian/Malaysian/local, still very much depend on the workers themselves... there are not-so-good Malaysian and local workers also (for e.g., my plumber..... argh.) you can drop by once tiling starts to judge the quality of work....

i didn't know drop down cannot do? so many pple are doing... never read this in HDB guideline wor... my contractor also suggested to do drop-down but we were the one that wanted the kerb in the end. Tiler said drop-down needs more skill to do, dunno whether true or not anyway, better check with HDB since she is gonna talk to you anyway~ maybe your contractor scared that the more you find out from HDB, the more things you want him to do LOL but agree with what May said, don't start blaming yourself or contractor... this is important if you really want it, don't give in and make sure your contractor do for you~

many of my graduate friends, easily can afford a resale flat within first 1 or 2 yrs of working, got married early, but don't plan to have any kids cos they find children "a burden". they rather enjoy their free lifestyle. the society has changed significantly in recent year, starting family early already doesn't help in increasing birthrate cos pple don't plan to have any kids to start with.

6kg washer user reporting 6kg is enough... my parents also have been using 5.5kg one for years (also the slim type Brandt one). can wash a set of queen size, comforter and still can throw in some clothes no need to do laundry alternate days... now i am doing laundry once a week. of course parents' place is more often when we were still living there (family of 5), but definitely not alternate days... maybe every 3, 4 days or so? key point is, dun anyhow change clothes. i know some pple that has 3 sets of clothes in just one day, which is totally unnecessary... like that surely need to wash very often, waste water also~

talking about cleaning, the shelf is at the shower area that can get wet? get the wire-mesh type of shelf cos glass shelf or anything with "enclosed" bottom requires a lot of cleaning and water will accumulate there... hope you get what i mean~ just sharing my own experience~ -
to add on, in order to minimize top-up, it is important to have a complete quotation to start with. while some IDs/contractors, like in idealistic's case, demand top-ups that are not unreasonable, sometimes it's also becos the house owner did not spell out their requirement from the beginning. To cite an example, some pple just simply assume walls will come out smooth smooth after painting (definitely not the case for old HDB), when wall smoothness doesn't meet their expectation, contractor inform them that plastering is needed and of course additional $$ is needed for this job. then the house owner accuse the contractor for "asking top up", but it's the house owner who didn't ask for plastering at the first place - this is not being fair to the contractor~ so on our part, the best we can do to protect ourselves is to make sure the quotation is as clear and as complete as possible - write down anything you can think of in black and white.

Flat Inspection Before Completion Date
marshmallow replied to skyvers's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
aiyo now then i read this. my seller was in the same situation cos their PR extension not approved. so during 2nd appointment day, we got everything settled in monetary terms... for e.g. seller supposed to make good the spalling ceiling, but they can't do since not in SG, so we got contractor to quote and they just pay us the $. standard 2nd appointment date is 6 to 8 weeks after 1st appointment. during 1st appointment, if you just go by the 1st available completion date, it will be 6 weeks away (like skyver case). in your case, it is the maximum 8 weeks, also quite normal as sellers need time to shift out and will ask for maximum allowable time. of course, both buyer and seller must agree on the completion date -

for best results, look for those stool with one big hole in the middle one... for water to drain out effectively... exactly like those in Japanese hot spring hahahahaha~ -
you can also use sgdi.gov.sg to find their contacts... in case you can't use work e-mail at home also, HDB officers are normally easier to reach via e-mail than phone... sometimes i wonder if they have anyone picking up phone at all... btw, maybe i missed it... why you wanna enlarge the main door ah?
