May doesn't use aircon when she sleeps... so friends78 can save some electricity~ cher~ trying to show off here~ -
wah. all these framing is very bad. we are just normal house owners... please present your evidence if you wanna say bad things about other pple. Please read the forum rules. ren zai zuo, tian zai kan (what pple do, Heaven can see). I agree, until the day when we go and see the Lord, then all the misunderstanding is clear. but whatever it is, my conscious is absolutely and completely clear. i wish to iterate what i posted just now: it's sad to see that the renotalk community has degenerated to this negative state.

aiyooo.... maybe try to arrange meeting on weekends? but your contractor also very busy during weekend... actually if there is someone to help, even worse... will be 2 sleepy pple instead of 1... LOL really kudos to your contractor for the effort to discuss till so late... should give him a "like" -
my parents' home got 4 seasons... we have laminates at the kitchen cabinets. of course it gave way earlier than the cabinet itself (still intact but some cracks here and there) but it doesn't happen so soon la... like after 10 yrs anyway, our 4 seasons not as extreme as those in Europe or Canada. for the rest of the wooden carpentry, we painted them instead of laminating... and it sure last a very long time: the bedrooms' wardrobes and bathroom mirror cabinet have been around for 28 yrs~ anyway, just kpo: for the solid top material you are using, besides looking different, any other advantage as compared to the well-known brands commonly used here?

wahhh May you should sleep earlier~ just read from mae's t-blog... you and contractor discussed from 8:30pm to 2am!?!? -
we are not so free to complain to moderator, base on what ground you made this assumption that we complain? Please don't jump into conclusion. maybe the mod thinks why suddenly this thread so hot so drop by to look see. like what May mentioned, this kind of use of word is very sensitive on forum la. anyway, Martin, if you can still PM, you can always PM us for help. it's not useful talking to someone that didn't even engage Henry as contractor at all.

Martin, i wasn't happy of course, whether it was directed to me or not, it was a really bad one… but i thought it already shed a bad enough light on you, no need to say further. anyway, apologies accepted~ and, thanks a lot to simon and may. i know you two are kancheong for your fren…. hugz~ bro, it's important that if anything happens, you can talk to him in a calm manner. if you are talking to him like how you express yourself here, i'm sure not only him, any other contractor, will also be unhappy. direct the focus on what went wrong and how to solve it. instead of going "why you made this mistake" etc and getting emotional, you can ask him "how can we solve this problem in the best way". this is not only true in reno, but in all aspect of your life, when you encounter any issues. anyway, as i said, from what you mentioned, things have been moving with regards to rectification, and this is surely a positive sign. no one is perfect, mistake bounds to happen from time to time. what's important is, mistakes are rectified to satisfaction. stay calm, our reno was also our first reno, everyone learns along the way. good luck

hee not sure about whether easy to mop or not... one thing i can say is maybe don't use those microfibre mop... i tried that on my rough toilet tiles and seems like some very fine thread of fibre kenna pull out? probably due to friction from the rough surface.... tiling work is probably the largest part of the reno, so it's important to have a good tiler... good for you! -
no... now office using 2007. changed from 1997 not long ago (yes you didn't read wrongly! using 1997 when it's already 2010! ) totally hate the graph plotting in 2007.. it's simply STUPID... can't believe 1997 can do better.......... previous job used 2000, home PC was 2003, hubby's PC was office XP, current Macbook is 2011...... i think i have used almost all versions of Microsoft Excel from recent years~

oh... i see... when we went TV shopping, some salesmen asked whether we have cable TV or mio TV, we said no, hence they told us that we should get a TV with built-in digital tuner. ah, anyway... maybe you can check the spec of your TV? hahaha ya... my sis didn't hack the kitchen wall so the ugliness is concealed anyway for your info, they have 2 sets of bamboo pole clothes hangers: one is on the right side that we were talking about, another one is near the kitchen window, but it's running along the toilet wall instead of parallel to the windows... hope you get what i mean. the bamboo poles gotta be cut short of course to maximize counter top space, they have a U shape bottom cabinet instead of L shape like yours (since never hack any walls)

the cat one is cute~ hahaha sorry i'm not into abstract art... you know what my classmate said when we visited a modern art exhibition? she was looking at a Kandinsky (or Pollock? can't remember) and said "I also know how to draw this, just that i'm not the first one to do this so i can't get famous! Hmph!".....

About Hacking Away My Bedroom Walls. Pls Give Comments
marshmallow replied to Johnathan Xavier's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
agree that flats with walls hacked can still sell like hotcakes if location is good. i personally viewed one such flat and missed it cos we decided to OTP 5 mins too late. the house was only opened for viewing for 1 day and COV was 50k. why so? becos it's at Clementi, high floor, with sea view, near amenities, MRT and many good primary schools~ the highest psf price record for 4-room flat was near Bras Basah road, that was purchased by a Taiwanese couple some time last year. that flat was hacked until left with 1 bedroom if i remember correctly. okie back to the topic - planning to have kids? parents or in-laws coming over to take care of the kids? possibly hiring a maid while staying in this place? if yes then you will need all the rooms, no need to think about hacking liao. -
yea so you should quickly go and patent it hahahaha
