Hi all,
Am new to Renotalk and renovation in general, so am starting where I'm the most comfortable - online! I just collected the keys to my first home, a 5i in Bukit Panjang, and would like to install laminated flooring so that I don't have to hack up the existing tiles the previous owner had. We intend to do up everything except kitchen, toilets and the entrance balcony, or about 800 - 900 sqf.
My contractor quote me 4.4k for Power Dekor, but I would rather get it from source if possible to cut out middle man. China brand right, Powerdekor, how can be so expensive? Vohringer quote me 4k for the same area.
I have sent my floorplan to the following manufacturers:
- Kronotex (met the sales rep at Expo fair last year end, he quoted me 5 plus k based on floor plan)
- Supreme (is this China brand?)
- Premier (also distributes Quick Step)
- Power Dekor
- Vohringer (colours very limited, but service very prompt and pricing is mid-range)
- Bilrich
- Floorxpert (distributes Pergo and Rabino)
The quotes I have received are as low as 2.40 psf for Premier, to about 5k for whole house from Kronotex. I read in some other threads that Rabino is doing an opening promo of 3.80 psf and Floorxpert is doing a promo for Pergo Family range at 3.99 psf. All prices are with GST and skirting. Another hidden cost is the hacking of the bottom part of the doors since there are existing tiles.
I know that as with everything, you pay peanuts you get monkeys, so I don't think I will accept China made products. Malaysia or European-made are still okay I think. Anyone have an opinion?
Right now, the ones that are the most appealing to me are Quick Step, Rabino and Kronotex ( only if they happen to have any promo now). If anyone has an opinion on the others I didn't consider, or have any lobangs feel free to let me know ya. Thanks!
Danny
