Hi welcome to RT! Must agree that this is a good place to share gd lobang and to get advice. Having an old flat definitely make the reno cost going higher and higher. Like my electrical wk is almost 4k!!! The rewiring cost $1.4k on its own. So u must be prepared for these variation order in the course of reno. We didnt hack the fl, retain the marble flooring and laminate over the2 bedrooms. For kitchen, i think not advisable cos saw my grandma's flat which is abt 20 yrs old and her kitchen tiles are all dropping. 1 contractor who i met up also knocked ard the tiles and said some are hollow already. I think is difficult to do cement screed thats why no contractor wants to do. ID will be higher cost but they provide design ideas and we kept asking her abt the furniture selections and colours. But there are some contractors here who have gd reputation and cost ok. If u want reno to be faster, got to decide on the reno soon, have a planned schedule. Sometimes we think certain process can be fast but in reality it cant. Eg. pipes in kitchen have to be lay then kitchen cabinet can go. So got to let ur id/contractor know and emphasis that u need it fast! Ours took 3 days to hack and remove, tiling took 5 days instead of the usual 2-3 weeks.

I must say the carpet at the Lifestorey sale is worth cos it feels smoother than those at ikea. We didnt go harfary for tiles, went SBH instead. We only got the pink mosaic tiles from harfary, id went to get it for us (not available at SBH) so i agreed with neOmesis and his id. NeO i was at the sale half an hr later than u. Mayb saw u and wife. Nice and chic tiles selected.

Yes the stellar series, i think is $200 or $220. Feel so soft! Was contemplating whether to buy or not cos now living at mil's place. In the end we grabbed ah! cos the price was good and dun want to lose a good deal. sam jie, are u talking abt those black, white and grey cabinets? The 2 tier at $98? I also wanted to buy but husband said look like those joss paper burner. I told him 'U no taste' We will definitely go back again as we are still looking for a coffee table and perhaps get a vase.

We went to Lifestorey sale today. Thanks sam jie for the 'poison'. We managed to get the carpet and some rugs. Also saw some furnitures on sale. Cheap! But we are in a rush so plan to go back there again. The sale will be on till National Day, they only accept NETS and cash. Our silvery carpet

I must say this is one of the most difficult to get thru week since i have my first child. Got to travel quite a distance to work as compared to just walking across the road. Dun have a nice comfy bed but only a thin mattress to lie on. Work is piling like Mt Everest and still piling. Reno like 60% done but dunno the rest can be completed on time. Went up yesterday and saw that all carpentry are all up in my house now and colours of walls also confirmed. Went up to the house but camera now in the car so cant upload the photos. I am so far satisfied with the laminates chosen (all recommended by id). When i went up today, the shiny marbled flooring greeted us. (polishing was completed). Then an opened kitchen window welcome us. Some carpentry are near the window and there is a puddle of water. Some carpentry are already wet at the bottom. So called the id and informed her. She quickly said that she will call the carpenters and check it out. We are wondering if the carpentry stuff can still be used? Hope this will not delay the HO. Must must shift in on the 24th.
