  1. we are, we are... i really hope end sept. tat gives us enough time to settle in and prepare the final preparations in the new house before the wedding! wa... daringly go have ac in yr kitchen? tat must b quite a first. gd job!
  2. tks everyone. yea, big transformation happening at the unit in the next few days i anticipated. so gotta keep my fingers crossed while they're at it. inferring to our personalities, we arent daring with colors for sure, so we're really comfortable with the color palette in the house at the moment. as my wife coined it, we try to go subtly glam, not loud and yet sophisticated. let's hope we can pull it off nicely! OOOMMMMM...
  3. yes, i salute yrs and my wife too. and thankfully, there's our wives like that to micro manage all these small items. all these defects seemingly escape me. I can only look at the general picture, major works, timeline and sorts. haha anyway, hope all your rectifications are completed ya.. hai, my side has a list of rectifications for my id too. but pal, am very sure you will not leave us with just a foreplay after posting that paranomic view of your living room and that highly acclaimed infinity kitchen island right.. i've been waiting for a long long time liao. haha. more pics pse!!
  4. man, i must really have missed that out cause I went around to the ids telling them i got no choice but to redo my living room tiles cause cannot tile over tile! haha. oh well, all is done le. cry father cry mother also no use liao. hahaha tks for sharing though!
  5. hope the id search is smooth for you eh. seeing how this unit transform to a modern/ minimal look surely is exciting and somewhat i got a strong feeling is gonna be really nice. hope my welcome msg ain't too late but hey, better late than never. welcome to rt and yes, I can really relate well to a wedding and reno back to back. ha
  6. hi there, i simply dig your loft (if am using the term correctly)! looks very studioish and sohoish. something any designer of any discipline would love to stay to feel inspired toilet is really a statement itself and boy, using the all-in-one hob and oven really iconic. really a reno well done! hope you share with us all the stories behind all these ya
  7. DAY BACK TO THE FUTURE, BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARDS pleasantly surprised today when wife and i dropped by the house in the evening after our purchase of our chandelier for mbr from lighting.com.sg. why? cause one big carpentry work is already up and running! and fated it seems, cause i did promise myself that I would post up the 3d pics once carpentry starts. so here goes, rewind the tblog to catch the future. u get the pun right? TOP: the argument was that we have a long wall indeed and we did not want the tv console cum feature wall to look chopped or unfinished. hence, id had decided to long all the way as though is a feature but doubling it up as cabinets too. thus, fulfilling what wife and i want - chic and yet functional. however, the above improved version still had the last cabinet chopped to make way for a display. well.. is fulfilling what wife and i want again - a cheaper version. hahaha TOP: few words were strictly taboo when it came to kitchen layout discussion - L-shaped, top cabinets, irregularities. but many words were constantly reminded though - streamlined, flushed, chic, minimalist, tasteful, kitchen island, best, designer, atas, conversational, u get the drift right.. with both extremes laid on id's table, a few drafts were proposed and presented, revised and revised and finally the synthesis of ideas, brainstormings came to this. TOP: the untouchable column really caused some stirs but not disheartened, wife and i approached to the so many ids we met with the idea of a kitchen island cum dining. finally, our id was comfortable and confident with what he could conjure. and what we thought would be a simple design came out awesomely totally bang for the buck. that lil "raw" feeling that had escape me since long time ago when wife relentlessly said that there was no cement screeded floor was also suddenly relived and fulfilled with the laminates to be used on the dining TOP: always venturing and off the beaten track, i also wanted something that is not run-of-the-mill in the common toilet. but how much can u differ from a common bath area right? and when what seem to be problems adding to my frustration, i actually stumbled upon the solution - the limiting space i have, the ugly water heater not seen in this highly doctored picture perfect 3d pic can be tackled with a swiveling singular piece of floor to ceiling sand-blasted glass shower screen! alas, site measurements with id in later stage proved otherwise and the limiting space is really haunting us. till date, this discussion is yet to be done. but to be "done" has to be real soon but for sure nothing close to this pic above. however, run-of-the-mill NOT still applies. ha TOP: sporting mirrors to create a bigger-than-usual toilet, this mbr toilet is also further refined by axing away the shower screen door to create a different look. travetine mosaics as a feature completes this royal elegant esque look DISCLAIMER: pictures are nice to see, but once the house is done up, considered DONE DONE. for sure will not be 100% reflective on what is on the picture i know. but really hope am will not be disappointed. so, coming next.. the carpentry works.. for real
  8. man... totally can relate to this post of yours!
  9. yea.. any movie by leo now is worth watching. also, my closet gay inside me is screaming out for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. wahahah 500 days of summer and inception.. i tell you, he's versatile, he's good! yea, so happened it matches the window frame right yea, id also commented that even if we did not change the doors is fine, cause once white is up, it will look d a r n good. so id was right all along. coming soon... in post 423. ha
  10. u mean overlay the tiles in the living room? is it possible? i tot cannot lei..
  11. is ID's doing, he went deeper, he did an inception and planted an idea.... an idea that once taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate... Floorrich is good and good for us solely and wholly. ha for now, i can only see and feel. and so far, both senses have no abject refusal to the materials presented... and honestly, we like it! now, don't be angry liao k. hahaha
  12. I can. provided i can reason myself to get along with them if i don't consider their misinformed understanding that a renovation creates a small din! ha
  13. eh, seems like our reno moving in tandem huh. my laminates are done up too. is a everyth huh. haha... nicely put. me too have 1 rm as such. am no henner club member but yea, still have grouting between the tiles. haha take note and keep track of those u feel is uneven or rough workmanship and feedback to contractor. usually, they will come in for minor patch up work, replacing of tiles and of course another round of acid wash. so guess for now, is fine.
  14. Day Laminates - When life gives you Floorrich make laminates TOP: before and after pics in the rooms TOP: particularly like the box up in my wiw! before and after pics of boxing up and different views of the soon-to-be WIW room TOP: MBR with the new false ceiling and laminates. and with sheer luck, our floor laminates matches with our window frames to a T! apart from the irritating shower screen that id seemingly seems stuck for ideas at the common bath, carpentry works is next and last on the list i hope! so... coming next... the never revealed 3D pics
  15. ahhh... i shall design a new tee and the few of us will all wear to inspect our new place during reno. the new tee will say, "neighbours are stupid, throw rocks at them" hahaha
  16. wa.... new windows. wish I have the budget man. btw, what color is that window frame? white? is great to know you have a good tiler, lucky you! haha seems like your unit gonna be quite woody huh
  17. i can't say they anyhow whack la.. cause i compared prices and in the end since grace served us quite well, i asked if she can match the price i want. so yeap, meeting each other half way.
  18. so mean!!! like they can make noise but others can't is it. hai.. no news mean good news. keeping my fingers crossed cause carpentry starts next week oh well... there are jus all sorts of weird and unreasonable folks around. when i was small, i remember my immediate neighbour actually start cooking meals in the wee hours of the morning. yes, frying fish and stir frying vegetables at 2am. ??? just don't whack the nail into the hole too hard lor. wahahahaha
  19. I was served by Grace. tell her Fabian of Jelebu road recommended you and see if she can give you the price i bought from her or not. gd luck!
  20. hai.... why can't neighbours be nice ah?! exasperating!! some neighbours in my block keep calling up town council complaining of loud noise! harlow... i'm doing renovation! is given!!!! hai
  21. ah ha! finally can see liao but with another lappy though. i always admire peeps who are daring with colors. my wife and i simply can't. perhaps we're boring. that's why. haha more pics more pics! haha
  22. hey, took time to read up yr costly mistake. is unfortunate that sometimes we learnt it the hard way ya. but fortunately, is still able to rectify. but prevention is better than cure eh. suggest that you do a real simulation exercise with your id to show you where the rest of partitions are, the cabinets, the tv console etc. this way, is much more visual and the feel of space is much better cause me went through such mistakes. however, fortunately too, at a very early stage when nothing was done up yet. you see, i was holding on to these ideal images in my head that all would be picture perfect; good walking space etc.. till the day when the kitchen was boxed up, then it dawned upon me and my wife that it could be much more smaller! so no choice, fearing that my id had placed order for materials, we recalled him back from malaysia on a sunday afternoon (really poor chap!) to discuss at my place. there and then, we simulated everything in the kitchen and freed up whatever space we can. really kudos to our id too travelling back to sg depsite being a sunday and he was in hometown for a family gathering. he even treated us to fruits from his garden after the discussion!
  23. bro.. tried 2 days liao but can't seem to see the pics you uploaded lei. haha is it me or you?
  24. looks like our reno almost at the same pace liao. all my boxing up is done and first coat of paint is up liao. henceforth, i shall stalk your blog to check on your carpentry works. ha! EH, which area of bukit panjang are you at ah? very gd to have them coming to install during the reno cause you can hide most of it! i kept reminding my id to leave a conduit cause i called up opennet previously and they mentioned they are only slated to come to my area late this year.
  25. and now things will move so fast you wish you have time to consider. ha looking forward to your harmonious tiles selection ya
