  1. FXEA: - Reno Blog: Introduction | The EA - Design: Conceptual | Sketchup | 3D pics - Worthy Pics: Pre-reno | Hacking | Tiling | Air Con Trunkings | Boxing Up | Floor Laminates | Carpentry Works | Lightings | Bathrooms | Moved In Pics | Curtains - Stories: Appliances | Sofa | Tiles | Mixers | Sinks | MBR WC | 3D pics | ID Selections |Favourite tblogs ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ after being a silent perpetrator in this forum for quite a long while, some random gibberish for awhile, i believe is high time to come clean and make my confession... ergo my t-blog! however, my disclaimer for anyone reading up on my t-blog.. you should be advised that most things found here has not necessarily been reviewed by astute professionals with the expertise required to provide you with complete, accurate or reliable information. there u go, am officially spared from any liabilities! Ha! fact is, after months-on-end of reading up technical jargons, reviews, forums, specifications, after hours-on-end meeting so many ids and salesperson after another, i come to realise my scientific formula to make me tick, what makes me will confirm my buy or selection. Btw, trust me, I am increasingly efficient in putting up a blank face in front of salesperson and pretending that I have no clue or watsoever of what to buy. haha so, the highly complex formula as follows – (≤ understanding of technical performance + 1 enlightening one liners) x chemistry∞ = (little or understand technical performance + one enlightening logical liner) x 一见钟情 = BUY or ↓$ in bank so I tot i go along and cultivate the above formula, inked my school of thoughts and share with fellow forum mates my journey till date (above disclaimer applies). And what’s better than to do a formal introduction of myself in the formal way in this forum – my floor plan!
  2. useful tip! *jots it down quickly*
  3. eh, same here! i heard the current owners bought their water heater not too long ago and realise they cant bring it to your coming new flat. so in the name of my hokkien alter ego "GEOK TIO! TANT TIO" WAHAHAHA noted about the rain showers. tks again but no tks in reminding me that out-of-reach-to-clean-place is by default yrs truly to clean. HA! yeap, working on my t-blog too. in fact, the first post to my t-blog is appearing in a few minutes time. tat is, as soon as i know how to post pics in this forum eh
  4. kidda wanna revive this thread considering i am quite keen on getting a samsung washer/dryer and fridge for myself. noticed negative postings in this thread on samsung fridges seems to be 3 yrs or more ago anymore care to share their experience and technicalities with samsung fridges?
  5. water pressure is very impt for wife cause she wants rain shower (nt sure if i got the term correct), so i suppose gotta rely on a water heater instead of trying the gas then. tks for the heads up! yea.. 5 more mths. seems like some time away but you cannot imagine how packed the calender is! looks like we both have something huge to look forward too eh.. hope everything goes well for you too
  6. "gas should be more economical than using electricity in the long run". I had tis salesman telling me something along tis line "gas in singapore cheaper, electricity more expensive.. tat's why government promoting using gas, like gas heater etc..". tat line sold me man and I decided to go with gas. which prompted me to google a bit. seems like is true regarding gas and electricity charges in sg. see below 2 links. gas - http://www.citygas.com.sg/index.php?option...6&Itemid=80 electricity - http://www.spservices.com.sg/ big day is in nov. u asking about my wedding dinner right? cause seems like the calendar ahead has many big days for me! 2nd appt, photo shoot, reno commence....... haha
  7. cant help but comment on yr selection for hob and hood. fujioh and rinnai quite a deadly combination huh? is like best of both worlds! ha! am shopping for the house appliances and furnitures while wife is busy busy with wedding preparations very exciting and expensive times ahead eh!
  8. hey, am looking out for my appliances too. so far mega offered me the best pricing. in fact, even more than aik leong and kong tai. but still would like to go one more stop to cfm where is my one-stop appliances mart. can i know who is the lady u spoke to at everjoint?
  9. hi hi, congrats on yr newly renovated unit ya! must be exciting time, really! I am working on a a minimalist theme too, thus yr t-blog appeals to me... then reading on, i realise we have so many things in common! 1. Initial renovation budget: 30,000 but in the end, the realistic renovation budget: $45k 2. A Brandt oven 3. Hob & hood: Fujioh NL900R, Rinnai RB-3CG 4. A Simmons bed 5. issit Alan from Mega @ KLP? hahaha
  10. salesman at audio house told me they are they only ones that buy back the free gift. wit regards to extended warranty, surprisingly he told me no point. he even commented tat is more like for the company to earn more cause logically such appliances hardly breakdown within the one or 2 years.
  11. if i'm nt wrong, the offer is only applicable to the white model, they have a grey one (which i one) but dont think they offer tat pricing then.. slightly more exp
  12. Things to make me feel like flying to Shenzhen and jumping off "fu shi kang" bldg 1. True true . I also hope when I sell house that time , still got thing call COV . But me quite heng as in my COV 1 k nia 2. 20k COV
  13. haha, i can really understand when you say bopian, need a house. cause i also "xim tiang tiang" (heart pain pain) paid up for mine also. hai, recognise it as market forces man. the crux of it? today u buyer, tomorrow u seller. so "zheng hu" gonna side who man? jus hope by the time i sell my flat, there's still such thing call COV! Supersimon27, i already cfm my ID - after 6 IDs and 2 contractors quote.. it all boils down to the chemistry la. my wife and I just very comfortable with the ID and is very open book. so we gonna settle with him. hope i can find time to start my T-blog too
  14. hi hi, i know yr post a bit long ago..... but anywayz, i usually hone in on certain liners to cfm or justify my soon-to-buy, so yea, care to share my insights with regards to front loading type better with an european model. i heard tis from certain salesperson too.
  15. yr pricing for a 8kg with extended warranty seems neat. I incline to choose a front loader too. reading up on samsung website, does yrs also feature the diamond drum? what is the rpm and can it be set differently for different fabric? any comments on brandt washing machine cause my ovens will be from Brandt, so wanna to streamline the brands in my house
  16. is the promotion coming or issit over? am torn between bosch and brandt
  17. hi, am really interested in the inner flame too and made trips to mega discount, rina and imm hoe kee to find out more. for now, seems like more naysayers for the inner flame hob. pros and cons as follows pros 1. definitely big strong fire cons 1. no levels of flame control 2. not gd if making boiled soups cause fire is too strong 3. rinnai's glass warranty only for 1 year only while some brands are giving lifetime warranty 4. burner inside edges are rough and may rust easily 5. not gas-saving or gas efficient 6. fujioh also has inner-flame burner with lifetime warranty on the glass top my 2 cents research. hope you can shed some light into it since you bought one eh.
  18. all so ex as in from the IDs or contractor? so far, my quotes from IDs are not favorable to me definitely wanna churn out all the works involved with ID before i approach contractors to see how much they are quoting for the same works u moving to bp area or currently in bp but moving away?
  19. hi hi, ha... u sourcing for a contractor to do up yr flat too? me too... took hours to finish Simon's tblog man..
  20. Been thinking to do some savings since hacking and tiling are big components in the reno cost, so really hope to hear some insights esp if any mates' house tiling are as such. ideally, perfect scenario (and most expensive) would be - hack off existing 300 x 300 tiles and replace with 6 x 6 throughout the living / dining / kitchen (open concept) and laminate all 4 rooms already a few agree in order to do some savings would be - keep existing 300 x 300 tiles in the living / dining / kitchen (open concept) and laminate all 4 rooms am thinking hack off existing 300 x 300 tiles and replace with 6 x 6 throughout the living / dining / kitchen (open concept) but keep all the existing 300 x 300 tiles in the room so my question to all forum mates is.. is my proposal weird / ugly? or actually it can be done and some did it tis way anywayz hope to hear from you guys
  21. yea, like i said... Very EXCITING time ahead aka also Very EXPENSIVE time ahead. haha for now, jus need to pick up the remainder quotations from the IDs so that I can come up one on my own
  22. mates from bukit panjang, i will be officially a resident of bukit panjang coming aug. so hope to know some mates from my neighbourhood ya!
  23. got yr pm! tks really! now that simon had spilled the beans, looks like I'm gonna be stalker to a few more t-blogs here. ha!
  24. Hi Simon, thank god for renotalk forum... I get so much insights from this forum man. i prolly sound like a stalker but I actually comb through yr entire T-blog. HA! anywayz, quick intro... my wifey and I are also quite sure of the design we want for our EA. More so, after meeting up 3 IDs and all the tips traded after talking to them. the other 2 remaining IDs we met were purely jus telling them what we want, so erm.. not much design for them to come up with le. plus, i strongly believe getting a ID company means the final damage we are paying are for his design, the company rental, company headcounts, company advertisements etc.. so having said that, am currently hunting for a contractor to do up the flat and gee... this Henner club.. is getting stronger and stronger i tot is gonna be public listed! haha really hope to meet up with Henry and join this club too! so hey, pm me for his contact can? and since tis T-blog has been ard since jun last yr, hope latest members of henner club can drop in a comment or two on henry too esp if yr place is currently under reno as we speak ya. really exciting times ahead
  25. hi, suppose i should start my t-blog soon with you to share our exp and exchange pointers together with the rest of the peeps here. mine is also a EA @ bukit panjang. so ya, will be "stalking" yr t-blog while i figure out how to start a t-blog. ha!
