  1. toshiba aircon? not that i hear often lei..
  2. hahah.. no problem wo wo.. is jus normal purchase like departmental store ya. me jus gathering numbers based on my shortlisted appliances to make the purchase cheaper for everyone. once the list is given to the salesperson, i.e. pricing is confirmed and locked, you all jus proceed to look for the salesperson and discuss delivery dates and sort with him lor.. hmm... if it's a basic convenction oven you are looking for, consider Brandt's FE811SX1. cheap and decent @ 899 without discount yet.
  3. as long as there is a line or gap, it is potentially a weak spot and any paint over it may crack after wear and tear. that's why I firmly believe by introducing an anti-fracture membrane over the gap before painting over it will help reduce the problem. hmm...
  4. i try not to complicate the buying list u c. wait, end up i trying to shop for everybody. haha i will be getting from MEGA. if you ask from GAB or everjoint, cfm is cheaper than departmental stores. but so far, MEGA yet to disapoint, for GAB or everjoint those shop.. I went down myself personally to get the pricing de. yea, i know everjoint is cash payment. GAB i don't know. i say ovens, microwave, front loading washers to go continental. shouldnt be wrong. well.. there's supporters for another german brand for ovens too ah.. BOSCH? most important, determine what sort of cooking programs you need and sorts and must go down to shop to have a feel of the physical products. so fair, I like my selection la. haha ya, so the marble how what? hahaha... i replied lei
  5. no wonder you asked me about marble. ha! very eventful and productive day indeed. man, I can feel the excitement of collecting my keys too.... can feel the pocket going to burn too!! haha ooo, noticed your to-buy list... if fujioh hood is NL 900 or brandt oven is FC842, support my group buy ya! "xie xie ning de pong chang". haha
  6. that's why i tai-chi to my id and asked him to think about it. haha he's still thinking i think.
  7. id said he has plans for me lei... man, any hdb officer reading tis one or not!
  8. he got say living room got air con unit ah? i read up and down never see lei. made me read so many times wahahha
  9. tks! but don't have the luxury of money lei. but still die die wanna do up exactly what i have in mind. nevermind, I shall live to tell the tale of "shu lang bai shu say". wahhahaha on a serious note... let's talk over there
  10. cause some changes in kitchen design and I want it strictly jus bottom cabinets only, don't want top. feel that the top and bottom is really repeating in every household (no offence). so challenged my id recently. haha. so wife complain not enough storage if doing that. i poignantly point to her and ask her to refer to living room cabinets. ha
  11. on a serious note... small or big, i think the space can be defined - perceptionlysis. OK, i was jus trying to be cheem. but i think that did not pull off very well. ha! anywayz.. if i may suggest, if it helps at all, if it's up to me to create space, if there's time still, i would 1. hack down the kitchen wall, removing the narrow feel of the kitchen entrance. that way, your kitchen would seem infinity as well esp if you are using same tile from kitchen to living. 2. if not hacking the wall because you want to contain the kitchen because of cooking or sort, I suggest you hack still but replace it with a transparent glass partition. 3. adopt a L shape kitchen set-up but I try to avoid top and bottom cabinet design cause seemingly, that design is everywhere (btw, am not going top and bottom too). i feel it gives better feeling of space to me. at the start of the wall that is part of the household shelter on the extreme right would be tall unit and fridge. 4. at the start of the 3.85m long wall, would be your entire bottom cabinets. on top would be as follow - long preparation area, sink, short preparation area, hob. 5. it seems like at the corner would be wasted cause your fridge place would mean that the corner cabinet cant be used. not so - adopt the ikea swivel kind where you put pull out at the next cabinet door. would be a lovely corner to put pots and sort 6. throw all laundry items at the opposite side short wall. washer stack dryer whichever 7. if stack up, you still have luxury to prep one movable kitchen island in case you need to activate even more space 8. nicely put the movable kitchen island near the tall unit and you can even entertain your guests who are sitting at the dining area which i will designate it near the wall belonging to the w.c 9. VERY SWEE AND BIG LOR I THINK! 9a. at least your kitchen is square lei. i seen a few in 17x in bukit panjang.. the kitchen is odd-shaped. those really are challenging! so you're ok ya! 9b. buy la, buy together the samsung washer dryer lei. hahahah
  12. well.. tks for supporting this group buy! haha on a serious note... let's talk over there
  13. from the proposed layout, comes the sketchup doodling courtesy of a gd designer friend of mine. comments good or bad all welcome eh below: the final kitchen island conceptualised design and location after numerous trial and errors below: the would be very freaking expensive living room feature below closeup: whole idea is to fill up the entire wall so it seems like it's just a feature wall. alas, is laminated cabinetsfor shoe storage, tv cabinets and everything! expensive but when id showed me the first time, I die die want it. below closeup: mind you, this placement for the kitchen island was after countless trying! till date, best arrangement so far - pleases everyone including id! below closeup: whole idea is to have a distinctive clear division between his and hers. features a pull out mirror in the middle to further make the distinction. ha! I don't know.. somehow or somewhat some reminiscence from a sence in Mr & Mrs Smith while they were changing.
  14. hi, tks for asking. am trying not to complicate the buying list too much. so as much as possible, will keep to the list of appliances mentioned above. but is more sales for the salesperson anywayz... will put a side note for you if are confirming to buy the same oven as me ya. not the best person to ask since i do not know well about baking. but at min, i think baking cookies is definitely ok cause is using traditional i.e top and bottom heating. retail is at $1399 fyi pse. tks vader! WE LOVE MEGA! haha
  15. ha, is ok. very easy to counter the knife threat. at the end of the bill, put another gd will 25% discount... he will go "aaahhhh" as well. not only that, lachesis will also go "aaahhhh" there you go, conflict resolved. haha
  16. hi berry_surprise? suppose you bought yr oven frm electrolux right? otherwise, just to let you know... am starting a grp buy for tis oven. hi hi, just fyi ya. i heard about the replacing of the catalytic panels too and probe further by calling brandt straight. they mentioned unless is daily use like commerically kind? then annually change is rightfully. however, if jus home use, the replacement can be done in fact once every 3 yrs. jus remember to clean after each use of the oven. hope it helps!
  17. haha... same here. didnt want tiles in the kitchen cause hard to decide what would be very nice for kitchen tiles ok, i gotta recap my discussion with my id back then when we discussed about tis topic.. here goes the last i know is normal plaster board i think. cause i was asking id do i need it to be waterproofing kind of board considering mopping and sort that is in contact with water. he initially said yes but then we thought harder and he said since skirting tiles below the board, that would prevent water to come in contact with the board. so normal plaster board would suffice. asked if board will warp due to cooking, high heat.. he reverted that the board would be nailed down and that wouldnt be an issue. asked if the smoothness would be comparable to a plastered skim coat finishing. he said is close to it. or at least definitely like a normal painted wall and wouldnt be able to tell the difference. me? i will be painting over it definitely. but colors wise, is more to match the entire house design rather a color to cover the board if that's wat you're asking. so decided to adopt tis sys cause seems like there are some savings. so entire kitchen wall replaced with board and paint. u may want to check it out with yr id also. see how comfortable he is with tis system. meanwhile, will keep you updated once i meet my id again ya afternote: after typing, i have another enquiry in mind for my id too. since wall can be different size i.e not necessary one nicely cut board able to cover all. then my question would be the line or space between board to board, would it be a weak point? meaning paint crack line over the weak point. mayb need to introduce an anti-fracture membrane before painting over it. hmm... anywayz, hope it helps!
  18. seems exp but ended with norm homo pricing? brilliant! am using board as well. but would be in my kitchen area whereby any existing tiles would be covered by board and nailed / screw down to hold it. finish off with paint. end result would be cheaper than hacking down the tiles, using hard compound powder plastering and paint it off. plus, painting over the board would give a even smoother finish.
  19. the cat i used to affectionally call ah fu is not my cat actually, jus tat she loves to laze outside my corridor, so we kinda "adopt" it as well. I love to have a cat at home actually (cause they're cleaner and less smell) but wife thinks otherwise. she prefers a dog. but i don't fancy dog smell. so yea, not going to have pets. ha movable kitchen island! I like. haha you have a long living room so is fine.. but my suggestion is that you flank the aircon units along the wall where the main door is. at least, when guests step into the house, they won't be greeted by the air con units. just gotta consider how the piping goes to reach that wall. my 2 cents view.
  20. welcome to tblog! love the floor at your old place.. is it jus screeded floor only or issit a tile finish? cause I tot i can see something like a 800 x 800 tile finish on the floor my better half dont like industrial look cause she feels is too cold or raw. the next closest i can go is finish off with stainless steel, minimalist finishing as much as possible.. and somehow my id is halfway there. ha
  21. hmm in very layman terms, stone impregnator acts like some kind of water repellent agent but not water proofing per se. and as the name suggests, is suppose to impregnate the stone after applying so your marble or stone looks the way it should be even after applying. if i'm not wrong, is one time application. better to follow the manufacturers' instructions when you buy the product. in this example, the stone impregnator would be applied on the exposed and the four sides. the back side of the compressed marble which I believe is laid on top of the carpentry (right?) need not apply. marbles are either natural or artificially made. whereby the former are usually 20mm thick and the latter is at the region of 12mm, 14mm thick thereabout. natural marbles are all subject to certain degree of porousity because they're from nature, just a matter of how porous. very porous co-relate to very susceptible to moisture staining and from what I understand, the white marbles (carrara, volakas, polaris, jupiter white etc) are more prone as in it is very easily noticed if there's any staining. also, for a white marble floor, you may see some tonal difference i.e some are whiter, some duller. to achieve better tonality for the floor, better to go with a fast-setting adhesive. but that's another matter altogether. for a start, you may like to check with supplier how porous the marble is and also the origin of the marble, i.e spain, italy, china. and if able to probe further (which I don't know if the supplier will be able to answer that too), check if the batch of marble are from the origin and from the same quarry. hope it helps. my disclaimer ah.. above are just my views and understanding at 2 cents worth k.
  22. granites are limited color. at the extreme both ends are those light creme, beige to those black galaxy granite if i'm wrong. if i may to my earlier comments, compressed marble artificially made by binding the resins or quartz inside that make it so attractive. having said that, it should be quite dense and shouldnt stain so easily. but then curry could be an exception. again, for better and longer lasting, introducing a sealer or stone impreganator ya. hope it helps!
  23. all the hiccups aside, u waited for 1st appt first and hey 1st appt over liao! 3 wks plus is ok. jus take it as more shopping time for your items eh!
