  1. Nice!!! Can see that things are going in place very quickly. Can do house visit soon! As for the door, yes, by right they should sandpaper before painting. My contractor didnt do that for my door frames and now there are weird stuff protruding under the new coat of paint, very unsightly. My painters did very shoddy work, never sandpaper anything before painting one. Anyway if the door rubs against the floor, then it's quite a problem. You dont want your door wearing down at the bottom, since you have to open and close your door every single day. Do take note and tell your ID about this.
  2. Looking forward to seeing your 3D pics! And post more pre-reno photos please!
  3. Thank you... I PM-ed you Darren's contact already... House is almost done with most of the furniture in... Doing rectification work at the moment... Will post up photos of the final completed work...
  4. Looks good!!! How come there are no pictures of the toilets and bedrooms? haa...
  5. Yah.. That's why my ID didnt even apply permit for this.... But the funny thing is when i was sourcing for IDs, some said that it is illegal to bring the basin out... Lots of myths & whats right and whats wrong in the industry, I also dont know who to believe...
  6. The space extended out is about 1.7m by 0.9m....
  7. I engaged the electrician from Plush Living to do up the electrical... Havent move in and still too early to tell whether there are any problems... Currently, during our visit to the house, all the lights that we switched on turns on... (Havent test all the power points with full load of electricity running yet).
  8. Almost all my lights are bought from lightings.com.sg including this one.. They have 2 shops at Balestier Road and Jalan Besar Road... It costs $40...
  9. I mentioned about the HDB permit to my ID and he said it is legal.. So, i assumed it is ok... He did apply permit to hack away a wall to create an entrance between the Guest Room and the Common Toilet though, but that was not approved...
  10. Oh is it? Your glass must be very well polished.. haa.. My glass door is quite visible...
  11. Carpentry Almost Done Kitchen Entrance - Sliding Glass Door Richard was worried that the sliding door (only 75cm) will be too small to our liking.. After taking a look, we felt that it looks ok... Also, due to the ugly tracks of the sliding door, we will be building a pelmet to hide the tracks so it looks nicer...
  12. Carpentry Almost Completed Kitchen Cabinet The Undermount sink... We like the 2 big drawers on the left.. It can fit in alot of pots and pans... What's missing is the breakfast counter...
  13. Carpentry Almost Completed Master Toilet The extended Master Toilet... Fixed glass panel and a glass door... The shower screen.. Apparently there is something wrong with this so they have to get it changed... Kitchen Box Up Pipes This is where we can put our mops, brooms, etc... and i wonder if we can fit a ladder inside too.. haa.
  14. Carpentry Almost Completed Walk-in Wardrobe (Interior)
  15. Carpentry Almost Done Walk-in Wardrobe Frosted glass door to the Walk-in Wardrobe... The Wardrobe looks a bit small.. Hope we have enough space to put all our clothes... Dressing Table The dressing table with a big piece of mirror yet to be built... Wife also dont like the pull down drawer on the right... So, we have to ask Richard to get it changed...
  16. Carpentry Almost Done Master Bedroom Settee Initially we were contemplating whether to build this settee because it cost quite a bit... Now i am glad we choose to build this.. The storage inside is very useful to us considering we hacked off our storeroom... Master Bedroom Feature Wall This is a simple feature wall (only 4ft by 4ft) for us to mount the TV in the bedroom... The problem is here... We bought quite a big bed frame (2.3m x 2.3m)... and the width of our bedroom is only 3.1m.... If we install the TV console which is 0.4m... then we are left with only 40cm of walking space between the bed and the TV Console... So, in the end.. We decided not to build the TV console... The problem with not having a TV console is that we are stuck with watching Mediacorp Stations only.. If we want to watch SCV or MioTV, we have to go to the living room... This is ok with us considering we might not even subscribe to SCV or other MioTV channels (depends on wife cos i never watch those channels) but i will subscribe to the sports channel though.. haa..
  17. Carpentry Almost Completed Shoe Cabinet There are more than enough shelves for both our shoes... Luckily wife doesnt have that many shoes like some girls do... haa... We like the mirror too as we can check ourselves before going out of the house... The only problem with the shoe cabinet is that the Main Door will hit the shoe cabinet when opened fully, therefore we have to add a stopping mechanism at the door? Leave this problem to the ID... If you notice, the top right hand corner of the shoe cabinet is for hanging brollies...
  18. Carpentry Almost Completed Living Room Feature Wall The feature wall will be painted grey... and the TV will be mounted onto the feature wall... The 3D design was for a 10ft feature wall, but to cut cost, we requested for just 8ft... Of course, 10ft will look much nicer... but 8ft is good enough for us...
  19. Haa.. What is your wife's concern? and why is D-Day Sunday?
  20. Your 3D is out? You are so lucky.. My 3D was only out few weeks ago... He did all of the things in the house that doesnt require 3D first.. So, the 3D was only out quite sometime later... Yah... I guess most important is that you must feel comfortable with the ID... haa.. He is gentle and polite to client.. wait till you see him treat his sub con... But he is not fierce to them.. just firm with them.... But, i must say also every ID has their bad points too including Darren.. I guess he is too busy and a bit forgetful.. So sometimes, you have to remind him about certain things... Have fun renovating!
  21. Huh.. havent finished.. now doing carpentry.. Final stage already, should be done in 2 weeks.. but our furniture only scheduled to be delivered 5th june (Cos we not free on the Vesak Day weekend)... which is 3 more weeks then can see a proper house filled with furnitures.. sianz... Dont worry, will invite you to our house once it is done...
  22. Haa.. Yah.. That reminds me.. He is fierce and the sub-cons all like scare of him.. and have to do their job nice nice.. if not will kenna from him...
  23. Hi Connytan83, What exactly are the contract terms that you dont like? Actually, I feel that although the terms of the contracts may sound "unfriendly", companies have to state down clearly the terms to protect themselves too... I believe if the terms you brought up are not unreasonable, the contractors will be willing to modify the terms a bit to accomodate your request... I think the only contract issue i dont like with Plush Living is that their final payment is only 5% and also, that the warranty period is only one year. But Darren did mention that even if there are any problems after one year, we can still look for him if the problems is not due to our own fault or wear and tear... I believe mutual trust is much more important than words stated in the contract... Like the contract states that i have to make 35% payment before carpentry work is being carried out.. But till now, my carpentry is almost completed and i have yet to make that payment (I believe for contractors who go by the book, they will wait for the payment before carrying out any carpentry work, because now he is paying out from his own pocket to the carpenters first)... Also, any changes or additions i made that will affect the quote, he will minus off or add on to the price accordingly. He did not try to find excuses not to refund the items that i took out from the initial contract... But, i think if you have any concerns, better to state down black and white too (Me and wife are those who dont care so much about these legal stuff)... Since you guys are already at the contractual phase, I guess most IDs will not let this "fish" swim away just because of some minor contractual issues...
  24. Samgalz, you can request Ezi Living people to go to your house and see whether they are able to install... They also have the Up Down system...
