It's not suitable to put the L shaped table next to the bed as it will block the window located there. Moreover, we are building top cabinets too.

It's more hygienic since your butt is not touching anything. The squatting movement is good for the pelvic muscles too. Squatting position is easier for bowel movement. Maybe they thought of it that way?

There's another solid surface brand called Acelite. Cost $75-$90 per foot run.

Congrats that your renovation has started. Looks like Uncle Poh and Uncle Bee Seng are really busy, esp. Uncle Bee Seng who never got back to me. Uncle Poh says he will come down to look at the floor plan since your place is so near to mine. Hope he can make a trip during your hacking period. Keep my fingers crossed. I can even come down and take a look on how your reno is going on too!

Solid surface are made from acrylic or acrylic polyester mix. I will go for this material too for my new kitchen. I like the variety of patterns and seamless look. The downside of this material is that it cannot take high heat. I have the habit of putting a hot pot or plates direct on the surface as currently I'm using those ceramic tile top. I would not recommend laminates if you are going to have cutouts for sink and hob. It absorbs moisture and expands.
