Hi all, been busy this few days...LOL didn't expect so many replies..LOL Latest information: My flat would be ready this weekend...i would post more photos after that. Below are my comments to each question that you guys posted. punggol: Initial cost was 24k for the reno stuff only. Electrical stuff means the wiring and any additions of power points. I just received my additional costs as well...sad to say it's quite a lot around 1.5k..as i've added TV panel for my master bedroom and a glass screen in the common toilet plus additional power points and cabinets that was unexpected. qiqi: Thanks for your comments. i've actually realized something...everything is white except for 50% of my electricals...=P how i wished i can change all my TVs to white colours... From my contractor, gloss white laminates is actually easier to maintain except that it might turn yellow if there's not enough proper maintanence. I've personally tried to use pen knife and ink pen to scratch on the sample laminate before we decide. You can almost see nothing on the laminate. But if you use dark laminates, it would be very obvious. It all depends on your theme actually. Jiayou with your reno! Typ126: 1) Reno Price does not include Air-con. Haha so it's actually not cheap as what you thought but i believe the pricing i have for the worksmanship is reasonable. Nowadays, some firms are providing free air-con but if you go to search for more ID firms or contractors, i believe the cost should be the same. They just add in the cost of the air-con plus the air-con they are giving might not be your ideal one. Just my point of view. 2) Nope, my contractor did not cut the bottom part of the door. But we have chosen anti-slip tile for that particualr slope as well. His advice was not to drill any holes in the tile (for locking the bottom part of main gate) as it's bad-looking. No idea if he's just plain lazy or what...haha....So our main gate can only lock from the top part. For your information, if your flat has a slope at the main gate and if you have taken HDB's optional tiles, that part would be ready made with holes for the bottom part of the gate as well. froggy: haha ermm...it's actually a reasonable price only ba if you refer to my comments above. Electrical stuff DOES NOT include AIR-CON...just the normal wiring stuff, additional power points, etc. haha don't mind you copying...mine is contractor with ID experience...LOL....can only say that since some ideas came from us...some ideas came from him... Lastly, hopefully everything would go on fine this weekend with no further hiccups before handover. i would update here soon again =)

All White Theme
mahjongace replied to qiqi's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Below is our almost white theme for our new flat =)! still under progress.. Main Reason for choosing white: Fengshui (Only can choose light colours like biege, light brown, yellow and white) =P to avoid quarrels between husband and wife...=P Basically, up till now...about 90% of the items are in white except for electricals + plumbing items http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30222 -
around 24k including laying of tiles + toilet tiles and installing doors and electrical.

Mbr Wardrobe: Mahjong Room aka Study Room: Initial Bay Window but changed to the L-shaped so that we can lie down by the side while watching over baby : Would be stopping here for the photos currently till my whole flat is done completely which should be in 1-2 weeks' time where all my furniture and electricals would come in after the last chemical washing and last coat of painting. Hope you all have enjoyed the pictures so far though it's nothing fantastic.

If you all noticed, my whole house is in white colour. That's because our FSM mentioned that both of us (me and wife) are water and fire...we need neutral colours (suggested colours: White, Biege, Light Brown, Yellow) in our house to minimize quarrels, etc....That's why we have to forgo our initial theme of a colourful world in our flat. Here are the 3D drawings done by my contractor's draftsman (Actual stuff would be 90% according to 3D drawings except for last minute changes that we made at the end): Kitchen: Feature Wall: Shoe Cabinet cum Settee (but all in white):
-
Bay window in Baby's Room: Day View: Night View: Sofa that we bought @ Lorenzo (but it would be in WHITE colour):

yes...i think almost all stores have this policy...it is just a gimmick i guess. Just remember to tell them to write "LOWEST PRICE GUARANTEE" in the invoice...haha i went around to check the storage bed...Prices range around 900-1000. so the mattress should be around 2200-2300. The only mistake i made was that the person wrote everything out clear but never state the individual price for each and every item. Just wrote a $3200 in total for everything. Hee...would need some feedback on what's the current price now as well. As long as that Mayfair mattress go below $2200, i would go whack that salesman again for the lowest price guarantee...
-
$3200 including storage bed (5 years warranty), 4 pillows + 1 mattress protector (i'm still aiming for the lowest price guarantee as the bed is not delivered yet... )
-
yup i took the silver one from Goh Ah Bee.

Haha that's because we took our own sweet time to source for items after finding my contractor. Yes, you are right. It should be less than a month if i manage to get the items i want and give the dimensions to my contractor according to schedule. But alas, i was in re-service for 2 whole weeks when the reno started..haha... Lotsa delay due to late delivery of air-con, plumbing items, etc....so push back the timing...=P

Simple False Ceiling Design: Initially we didn't want any false ceiling at all to keep it simple but after our contractor told us that the main purpose is to hide all the ugly wirings and beautify a bit, we decided to go ahead with it. Anyway we just put a false ceiling around the dining area, nothing complicating. Here they are at their very initial stage. Doors up too: Room Doors (classic white): Toilet doors (white):
