  1. Different group of painters?? Mostly the edges are not well done, caused Henry to get a phone call from my MIL. Oops. I'll text him tomorrow, hopefully ok as the floor is done up by direct flooring company...
  2. Lol that was fast. I know my pics are late. Haha. Hope to get some pics of the carpentry soon. How is your reno going? Dropped by your t-blog but didn't see new pics?
  3. Painting isn't done very well, no pics of it yet as hopefully Henry will be able to do the touch ups first. Carpentry is up tomorrow, should I be getting them to lay protective covering over the new laminates?
  4. Dusty floor.. I try not to think of the dust underneath my new flooring But I kinda like the finished effect..
  5. window grilles Holes caused by removal of old grilles not patched up
  6. Glass works up... Bathroom Kitchen Balcony
  7. That's quite long, perhaps u had more walls to be hacked? Mine was only one which is the toilet...
  8. Wow, as what samgalz mentioned, first time hearing that cement cost is not included. Only heard before that plastering needs extra cost. How much did the cement amount to??
  9. Yeah mine the coverings are also torn in some places coz of the constant walking I guess. I'm just concerned about the flooring that Henry is not doing i.e. laminates and stairs, since he can't rectify those? Ya hopefully got touch up on the painting, but mostly on the edges of corners I guess... Haha pics prob up over the weekend. Laminates was only half done when I dropped by few days back.
  10. Haha oh no, I wonder if it's stress or tiredness for me. I see things coming together, but also see all the detailed rectifications to be done. Sigh. Usually when is final payment made? Handover?
  11. LOL. We become less idealistic as we grow older I guess. Gotta balance dreams vs reality. Yours can handover next week already huh? Then I guess mine still got 2 weeks more? When did you start btw? Mine was painting and laminates this week. Still left with carpentry/lights/touch up. Did you have 2nd round of painting btw? Handover soon, soon you'll be able to see the completed work
  12. Haha. I think more relieved that the process is drawing to an end. But once they overlay on the dust, how to clean it?
  13. Haha I think too many scary stories around recently, but some safety for yours I guess since is your friend's father. tigertgr is stressing u.. Haha.. But reno is quite stressful actually. Lol. Especially when choosing the materials. But just do some research before hand (this forum is wonderful for that) and I think know what you really want, don't let others tell you cannot this cannot that. If their opinion makes sense then ok I guess, but if it is just for their own reasons like: wanting you to buy their stuffs or make their job easier, then don't them sway you. Rambling abit here, but just recent thoughts on my own reno. Haha.
  14. Yours does not include cost of the tiles? But I remember yours include air con and some doors? I only changed my main door and grille. Think doors are quite expensive.
  15. that's what I thought Asked another friend of mine though and she mentioned it was done the same way, laying over a dusty floor, wondering if I'm just anal and this is the common practice...
  16. Haha another round of reno! Let me get through this one first. Yes, good enough as opposed to having the best eh. Before reno starts, we had a whole list of items we wanted aka dream house. After seeing the quotes, we had to become pretty adept at cost cutting instead
  17. laminates was half done when I went down yesterday, looks ok their workmanship... only my floor is dusty from all the reno and they are just laying over all that dust is it commonly done like that?? yeah i also waited for a week for the permit to be approved... my reno still left with carpentry and after that all the rectifications before handover I guess? Seems so long the process... Meanwhile I guess you could look around for the toilet and kitchen stuffs?
  18. should be soon there, i think we were able to check on the status online through hdb webby. As long as it's not thick lines on the floorplan, i'm guessing it should be approved
  19. Yes tiles included up to max of $3 psf. Toilet and kitchen hacking and tiling takes up quite a bit
  20. Just like to find out the usual process for installing floor laminates. Currently the floors are really dusty due to ongoing reno, do the laminates just get overlaid on the dusty floors? Or usually it is cleaned up before hand? Appreciate any help!
  21. RA what? Lol. I think shall go with what you said, getting one which matches my budget. Inverter should be out then
  22. Nope does not include aircon eh. Accessories also not included. Are we doing about the same stuff? Excluding the flooring which iirc you were keeping?
  23. about a week iirc.. how long has it been since your permit was submitted? just dropped by your blog, looking forward to your cement screeding
  24. Hi lilith, The approval was submitted together with our reno permit by our contractor. The reno permit will state what is allowed to be hacked. As a guide, the lines which are in thick black lines on the floor plan can't be touched, so we roughly knew which wall can be hacked before hand. We did try our luck with one of the ""forbidden" lines, but not approved...
