i have been using the Miele S 4212 for over 3 years. i almost wanted to get a dyson initially. the main pros are its lower costs, bag system (no dust can escape), durability (i saw the demo of how strong the plastic hose is), maneuverability and good suction.

Hi All, Just to share with you about my bad experiences with the fans and remote controls from Elmark. My home is a 4 bedroom flat. I purchased 4x of their EL3888 VIP9. All 4x of the fans are with remote controls but only 3x of them are with lightings. And to my dismay and within a period of 2.5 years after the purchase, i have already called Elmark service centre at least 4 to 5 times. One of the problems was to do with a noisy motor. The noisy motor was replaced. The other problems was that the old remote (see picture - left remote) has a faulty design. It caused one of my receivers (located under the fan) to burn and giving out smoke. The other problem was the old remote cant synchronise and control the fans and lightings. I was forced to change into a new set of remotes (see picture - right remote). Take note even though your fans are under warranty, you still need to pay for transportation charges! Now my latest problem is one of the fans is not functioning again. Previously my house circuit break has tripped so i suspect the receiver has busted again!!! and the other fan has a vibrating motor. WTF i need to call Elmark again. Mind you their transportation cost is $30 per trip and $20 workmanship per fan. One set of remote control costs me $120. You imagine how many remote controls I have purchased from them?!

im glad my renovation journey completed with no major setbacks. except for minor hiccups here and there. i think most important is you should engage with someone who you can trust. even big companies licensed with HDB can cock up too. of course they dont run away but they dont do perfect renovations. even if your renovation has completed, the after sales service must good too. you must ensure your ID can follow up if there are any problems with your house during the warranty period. as for me, my ID has left the company and started his own renovation business. But to my surprise despite him leaving the company, twice he came over to my house to fix 2 minor problems that happened. he didnt shun my call even though he is not from the same company.

i have PM you. i think one of the most important criteria in selecting a contractor or ID is their after sales service. make sure they dont run away after the work. -

It has been nearly 3 years since i last renovated my flat with A&D. The ID has left the company and started his own renovation business. Despite him leaving the company, twice he came over to my house to fix 2 minor problems that happened to my house. Im quite surprise that he didnt shun my call even though he is not from the same company. As a good recognition for his excellent service, im doing him a favor to advertise here on his behalf. PM me if you need his contact. PS: Im not a ID or a contractor. I was just like you a new homeowner 2 years ago. -

i believe the touchscreen one is an improved version. i will feedback if there is a problem in future its funny that the previous blue and oval design got obsolete so fast. the technician said got no replacement to my previous remote. there must be a problem so Elmark changed to a new design. i heard the latest remote costs $120 compared to $80 the previous one. my advice is dont opt for the remote!

i just got 2 sets of my remote + receiver changed. and im forced to change the model. this time around, the controller is a touch screen but comes WITHOUT holder! then i have to remove the old holder. what a stupid design that Elmark cant come out with a holder?!
-
crappy service! you need to pay transportation and labor charges for repair within 1 year
-
i got the same symptom as you. i need to off/on the main switch so that i can use the remote! but once a button is pressed, the remote is not working again. need to off/on main switch again. the cycle continues
-
i have an engineering background. there is no such thing you cannot use alkaline or non-alkaline. the voltage is still the same. the performance might be different anyway i verified myself, its not the transmitter that is causing the problem. its the receiver on the fans

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Or Mitsubishi Electrical?
DPSK replied to fullerms's topic in Electronics & Electricals
I have used Heavy for 5 months. So far so good. I really like the 3D effect. You can aim the louvre to fix at your desired location or let it go around in 3D -
Hi All, I just want to share my experience with Elmark fans. I bought a total of 4x EL3888 VIP 9 models. 3 of them come with lightings and all of them come with remote control each. Just for the convenience, i was willing to fork out a freaking big amount of money just to buy the remote controls. And to my surprise, 2 out of the 4 remote controls are not responding/working anymore after 5 months. This is the 2nd time i am going to call Elmark to service my fans and lightings. The 1st time was due to bad motor on 1 of the fans. Buyers beware! What a crappy electronics design they done. You pay for expensive remote controls and you get monkey performance.
