thks chipee!!! we tot so tat's y in the end, we decided not to do the revarnishing after reno...dad was commenting tat if polish too shiny, later preggie then will slip n fall :S so just leave it bah hmm....it's pretty much wat i expected....will let hb see ur pic....i tik if the wiring's concealed after tat, it shd look fine i tik

KSJL - tried to find for bluewater's curtains n blinds in his blog...but can't seem to see leh....u have pics of urs? put here so easier? hahahha....u so bad to Edmund....we tot of asking him since we only intend to get frosted windows....no curtains or blinds....my nose can't take it didn't realise till we got BSC to do it n went for my gf's housewarming party at P&D last wkend...then realised it's supposed to be included but ours was omitted....heng we asked them to do....phew!

Managed to speak to Edmund....hopefully when we meet him tis wkend, we can finalise details as it seems tat reno can commence next wed alrd!!! It's getting me excited :)

yup....it's below our budget and he quoted abt same pricing as the other 2 contractors we asked quotations for but the itemised pricing is more reasonable for the kind of works... hahahhaa....show us pics when it's done up....we not going to do curtains cos i'm allergic to dustmites....so we r frosting the windows....getting Edmund to do for us...since he's doing the rest of the house already :)

finally received Edmund's quotation ytd!!!! after much discussion wif hb, we've decided to take Edmund mainly cos of his working style, communication n prices...nw awaiting for next wkend where we both can meet up wif Edmund n discuss further since we do need to add/change a few things will post up some pics of the rectified works....nw tiking wat to do wif our main door since we kena the alibaba line marking too....whoever it is $&@#%^*!!!!!

Just got back frm our unit....****!!!!! Mine also kena the alibaba marking but all my neighbours on same flr dun have :( by then too late to ask BSC to rectify... Anyhow saw the rectification....v satisfied - polishing n varnishing done so no scratches n dents, toilet mixer gaps filled n plastered properly, no more hairline cracks on the wall n they actually put mini rubber door stopper behind main door!!!! Thks to dad!!!

wah....it's an act of vandalism leh...maybe shd report to police n ask them to patrol more often since there's some fair bit of owners that's still doing reno to their houses and some (like me), not even moving in till some quite time later...

Chipee - shdn't be an issue for submitting defects after ur reno, Chipee....since BSC will be there for a yr frm 14 December 2009...no probs one.... KSJL - likely we will take Edmund cos quite comfy with him and got good rapport also which is pretty impt in case of anything....but i tik hb will still want to take a look at one of his projects first.... hahahaha....u said the same thing as my mum abt the mbr sink....aiyah, save $$$ lah dun change....until 5 yrs later want to change then tok....scarli u move to GCB by then leh? hiak hiak....hahhahaha wat is the big circle btw??

oic...nope, i tik for my case...mine would be BSC rectifying it first then we'll see hw.... i tik ar, for the grouting ar....likely HDB will not do it for u like wat chipee says since it's not a defect in the first place....another solution for u would be, u can get tis tube of white 'polish' or glue thingy tat's for the grouts....u can painstakingly put it on all the grouts of ur tiles....but a caution though, put liao....after constant cleaning of ur floors, it will come back....else, another last resort would be to clean ur grouts using tis particular magiclean spray tat's specifically for mould etc....i tik tat shd do the trick.... previously my parents' place also same....BTO like P&D...their sink came in weird colour....meaning tat the sink is supposed to be cream with speckles of grains...however, HDB gave us a dirtied one n it's too late to ask for a change of new one by then....so we gave up on it....then tat time i tried the magiclean spray tat's specifically for mould or anything like tat...it's grey in colour...when i have the chance, i will take the pic and put up....i tik u can try tat too for cleaning n see wat happens....after usage, the sink is once again sparkling clean and new not sure yet cos have yet to view his emailed copy of quotation....need to discuss with hb nevertheless....n the hb is supposed to fly back to his hometown on fri (so last min ) so likely will decide next wk bah....no worries, KSJL...i won't be affected....just concerned....heheehe....anyhow, we need to look at all aspects before we commit to getting a contractor

KSJL, at least i feel it's a win-win situation now....u get ur 'rectified' bedroom floorings and edmund gets his final payment....:) tat's most impt....everyone happy can liao.... Chipee, i tik u can try to push BSC....if not wrong, if u r able to do during wkdays, their slots quite available....today called BSC to come down, they come down and already started working on the varnishing.... joseeng, not sure abt the sand and dust effects on the varnish if done before reno....but yes, Edmund did tell me tat we shd do the varnishing only after all the reno is done so tat it would give u best results....haiz...my case bo bian...we want to see if they varnished the floor n the scratches still persist in naked eyes....if so, have to tik wat to do liao....

yeah....KSJL, it's sad to hear that u r facing such problems....hope u will be able to resolve it soon.... i tik for many contractors who have good reviews, there are also bound to be bad reviews or not so good reviews...like the now, Jason (U&B) case....but i tik sometimes abit heng suay and also, it boils down to communication....i'm sure no one would want to make ugly scene out of anything....u do properly, we as owners also happy rite? :)

chippee, totally understand abt the trying to match old and new tiles....it can be very close but definitely won't be exactly the same for sure....tough one man! btw, i kept hearing P&D ppl toking abt the opennet installation thingy....what is it exactly? or where can i read it up? in the P&D forum?

Latest updates: Today BSC officer came over to our place for joint inspection for the defects. Immediately, they started working on the defects and it's deemed for the defects rectification to complete by tomorrow. Hence, will go back to our place to check if it's properly done tomorrow. Meanwhile, just received a call from Edmund to say that he's done up our finalized quotation and will email me these few days. Pretty eager to see his quotation so we shall see how.

nope, KSJL....we not doing any overlaying or hacking of anything at all....our unit's flooring n all look fine to us.... can ask ar, Edmund did acid washing for u or chemical washing? acid washing is pretty harmful....could be the reason y for the black cement part ar?? Alamak....hw come got wrinkles for the parquet...FAINTZZZZZZZZZZZZ hey chippee!!!! yeah!!! more P&D neighbours here....hehehe wah, the BSC officer said tat and leave it as tat...

wah....wat happ ar? i tik i'm getting confused....did u mean u replaced ur floor tiles then got prob? or did u mean tat ur floor tiles is the colour tat u dun like?

i think it's called 'feng' in mandarin.... anyway, the thing turn blackish....only one way and it's to clean ur floor with those whitening cleaners like magiclean tat kind...but ar, have to let u know that even after doing or cleaning up the grouting between the tiles, after sometime of washing ur floor, the grouting will 'disappear'.... it happened for my parents' house too....both the grouting for the living room tiles as well the kitchen floor tiles 'disappear' after a while....after all the mopping of floor, washing of floor....so in the end, it's still the same....

KSJL, what is grouting? is it the 'feng' in between the tiles?
