there are many brands of laminates out there, too many to be named in fact. U can ask your ID to put on hold the laminate decision if unsure, meanwhile take some time to compare brand and pricing. Have to do some hard work by looking through tblogs and asking others for their reviews and most importantly the pricing. Laminates is extremely competitive and dealer also quote diff prices to diff customers and often leave room for bargaining. Hope it helps.

What Is A Reasonable Cov?
gimz63251073 replied to schiz0id's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
not very difficult to understand... COV must pay with cash, while the valuation can take loan to pay. To them, they don't feel the "pain" in paying through a loan as the payment is stretched and paid using CPF monies which cannot be withdrawn. Almost akin to paying for medical bills using medisave. Most people would not feel the pinch. But u get a screaming patient if he has to pay it by cash. Yes, it does seems irrational, but many people are more irrational than they think they are. Looking at total cost is important, but many would not bother to think so far. THe decision to purchase a house would affect the lifestyle decisions for many years ahead, so one wrong step could fill your days ahead with regrets. -

hopefully new ministar would outsource the checking of illegal subletting to corporate companies, just like how they catch illegal parking. otherwise, i wonder how the HDB can do a proper check. last news report was that they caught only 40 illegal subletting cases. its a real joke can... -
just jokes ok... Mr Khaw Boon Wan: BTO applications will be lowered to $7 to improve affordability. (cheaper than heart by-pass) Mr Mah Bow Tan: HDB is still affordable ok, i retired when everything is fine, just like Ho Peng Kee! Vivian Balakrishnan : do you want "distilled water, mineral water or new water" (do you want meals in hawkwer centre, food court or restaurant) TPL: stomps feet. I don't know what to say (no appointment, heng ah!)

That was then. This is now. 70s door grille becomes our "feature wall" in the WIW area. Habouring the thought of pasting a mirror behild the door grille, on the wall to add illusion of space.. Curtain Hooks from IKEA. Hope they can hold up the heavy grille! What a beauty...

well, from the youtube video, it looks very easy for sure... haha..

i watched youtube videos on laminate laying. Thought it was easy. wanted to DIY but distributor say they provide installation and if i DIY, no guarrantee on installation works. So i let them do it, it was a blessing. Mine was a old resale flat, walls and floor not straight. Imagine the difficulty in cutting the laminate? The difficulty in cutting to fit weird corners? Lucky they did it for me. If not it will be a nightmare for me. As for ikea laminates, check out their joints. Its lousy actually. U can easily get samples from laminate suppliers to compare.

Read some online reviews, said to be good except for cleaning wise which is troublesome. Any reviews from users?

Prs Not Allowed To Buy Public Housing?

wah Rimblock make me see numbers till i blur... taking a step back, the numbers might not be as useful. Reason being, most PRs currently are already renting/own a house. Save for those camping in parks or what nots. Hence, there would not be a huge number of people being made homeless if "No HDB for PR" is implemented. No laws would apply retrospectively, at least not in Singapore. Numbers which are more useful, but we do not have access to: - quota for PR / work permits in future. - This would make an impact on the already tight supply of transport/housing/personal space. Having said that, it is really not easy for anyone who does not save up via CPF to pay for the downpayment of the house. The high price itself sets a high barrier of entry for many PRs already. And single citizens have kept lobbying for the right to buy HDB before they reach 35yrs old, another batch of demand we are seeing here! -

so u mean grant HDB to all citizens? then i would say its bad for those who really need housing. When things are given, people will take it with both hands. Imagine a rich family of 3 kids. Father is so rich that he can get each and every one a private property. But since each kid is entitled to a HDB, father tell them to buy and rent out. So you have it, the HDB market has 3 less flats now for everyone. (given that supply remains the same) Given the rental nowadays, the flat is easily self financing and would be "free" to each kid after 30yrs. Is that what you deem as fair and equitable? Fair and equitable to me would be to "level the playing field". HDB sets an income ceiling to level the field a bit, so that people who need flats can get one. The reason why so many people cannot get a flat need not be said again. Now the playing field is not level again, with income ceiling at 8k, despite prices rising sharply. So HDB attempts to increase to 10k or more. There will always be debate on "why 10k" and not "11k". Currently, those earning 8k or more can still get resale flats. I cannot see why more than 8k salary (assuming no kids since not married)cannot afford resale? Are they are just grumbling that despite paying for more taxes, they cannot enjoy the subsidy as they earn more? -

well if u ask me, i would put a cap on income ceiling. Peg it to starting salary of diploma/degree holders maybe since target market are those young people. a solid line would still be blurred or debatable. They ultimately have to decide who they want to "subsidise". Income in HDB's view relates to fixed salaries. Many jobs comes with commission nowadays, sales, property agents, etc. Many people in sales are at an advantage as they can avoid the income ceiling while drawing good commission (ok, sometimes not so good). In this case, HDB is "wasting" resources on them. no point providing subsidies to rich people. e.g. young people whose parents are rich enough to buy them a private property. Those people might simply buy hdb and put it up to collect rental, putting more upward pressure on high prices. Last but not least, the ceiling is super irrelevant now la, millions of things have changed and prices have gone up but ceiling never change?? -
The table project Wifey needed a sewing table, brainstormed tons of methods of how to do it. Went to ikea and got an inspiration. So we got this: Around $110bucks for this. Another $7 for 2 more pieces of Gorm wood (not in pic). Bought more L-brackets (wife's latest new favourite), screws, etc. Table is around 160cm long, 50cm deep. With Plastic boxes as drawers for storage of stuff. Gorm is actually a series by ikea for shelvings, so the they have this irritating plastic thing on the shelves. So hard to take out! Joined up the wood with L brackets, screws: Kiasu Singaporeans. Overdesigned or a safety measure? But its sturdy. Thats all that matters. Final look. (for the time being). We probably will extend the table. We think it will look better after we hang the tree branch above the table. YAy!

65kg is like my weight la. I Tink u would need lots of strength to pull out the drawer...a little over designed in my view. The soft close mechanisms does feel much better for blum though.

It did not use to b a problem until they started giving out pr like no ppl's biz. A short term solution is to ban pr from buying. But I Tink banning does more harm. The root of problem is still under building, so should apply the right medicine. -
