thanks! we intended to get a billy anyway as a bookcase. But somehow the dimension fits our area exactly as a shoe rack. so put there first. hah... we also bought 1 shoe stacker from Daiso to try out...shall see if it is workable...afterall each shelf costs 10 from ikea... anyway, Billy is really heavy!

hmm yeap, CNS turned out worse... not sure if anyone checks the bottom of the grilles...i for one had neglected to.. let it be a lesson to me and everyone who reads this. my encounter with CNS is that sales guy is polite, but the person arranging for installation is quite bad. Workers are efficient, but damm bo chup. They did not put any thing to cover my laminated flooring when spraying paint. So Strawberry, u better place lots of news papers to ensure that flooring is protected. Overall, due to the price, i surely cannot complain much. Even if a little bit is rusty, just press the spray paint and its ok (for the time being.) surely it will rust someday, especially in my area...but leaving it unpainted is not acceptable - even for the price. But well, we done it, so will move on. Just want to highlight to people out there to be more careful in checking...

There was a previous post by someone who did his gate with CNS and it rusted. I did a check and found that mine did rust as well. Small bits of rust, easy to solve the problem. But they had not sprayed the underside of the gate, so just wanted to warn you guys to check that part whenever you all are doing the grilles. See the post here for pics: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=560745 So im retracting my earlier statements and recommendation on CNS. Sorry guys, if you had signed up after my positive comments. Please try to rectify the rust/unpainted portions before it gets worse...

GUYS! If you had used CNS to do your gates, please check them now! I checked and found a few small spots of rust. So ok, no problem i thought, take it down to spray black. To my horror, the underside of the gate is not painted at all! So, we had to spray it, being in our area, we were told metal rust very quickly Forgot to take before pics, so here are the after pics... The shorter side of the door (underside of the gate) The paint waiting to dry: The area we sprayed: Horrified, i checked the wrought iron grilles. True enough, they did not spray the bottom of the grilles. So smart... Think we will settle it another day... haiizz....

Also got our complete set of drawers from IKEA. They are heavy! This is one side of our WIW. The other side will be using IKEA pole system - the more industrial style kind. With so many drawers, hope we will remember where we store our things! Our "Do Re Me" style of putting it... Also gotten a BILLY bookcase as our shoe cabinet: We made a mistake of fixing the shelves wrongly, unlaminated side facing out... Gotta use a fabric to cover up the glass door. Cute fabric we got from ikea. No idea what to use if for...buy first... With a stroke of luck, we managed to get this fabric, (same as the one we use for our chairs). Luckily we got it before an auntie...she bought the whole roll of this fabric!! We want to use this for cushion on sofas, so that it can match our chairs. So lucky!!
-
Last week, we did up another 2 more chairs. This time, i remembered to take photos. Overlay the ikea fabric - ($9.90 from ikea, subsequently bought 2 more metres at $4.90) As the old fabric is too hard to remove, we just stapled the new fabric: Here is how the chair looks now: View from MBR door:

MAS grants licences to money lenders, so they surely can do something. Just that no one wants to do more work for same pay. Till one day when a MP's house get splashed paint, we probably would not see any major changes. Still remember how the chewing gum ban came about? Its very frustrating that nothing can be done to such an incident....Singapore say small not small, say big also not big. Its also a fact that no one will help u track down a deliquent creditor...sorry to splash cold water but this is the truth. Its just not high on their priority. Have u tried writing to the money lender, copy letter to MAS? Since they are licenced, they better dun play around. This would at least subside the problem for that particular company. Meanwhile, tracking down the guy via facebook is a good idea, though time consuming...

true, ICA has no bite here...already a very big issue faced by resale owners. to be really frank, hounding the ICA ppl serves little use, they are just employees working in civil service, following instructions and rules set by the upper people. its the upper people that we need to harass. the ICA officer is at most a punching bag to vent frustrations, so ok, u have scolded her...good...but the problem still exists. For legal money lenders, my view is that MAS should come down on them For illegal ones, police must come down on them. otherwise, just scrap the stupid NRIC. Other than using it at bowling centres to exchange for shoes, what else do we need it for?

Queries On Hdb Valuation
gimz63251073 replied to wikipicky's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
hmm...why should the seller do anything which would only benefit you? Whichever outcome, seller has no benefit, so why do it? the big question "what is it in for me?" i think u need to address this issue when putting the idea across to seller. -

Installation Of Mirror For Walls (3.35m Length X 2.6m Height)
gimz63251073 replied to wd88's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
i was once quoted $300 for a 1800mm by 85mm mirror by a mirror supplier in eunos. i think sff's quote is much cheaper in that sense. -
Hdb Resale Prices Hit Another High,
gimz63251073 replied to Warrior88's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
obviously those getting flats for the first time today are born in a different era. They are accustommed to a better life, so anything that goes wrong, they will complain. as a matter of fact, HDB is set up to solve a housing problem. Today, HDB is a great source of income and a powerful political tool. Likewise, a flat today is very different from a flat 20 years ago. Hence, no need to compare now and last time... its a whole different game, different rules apply. Its always funny why people like to compare Singapore with other places...we are uniquely Singapore...or some say "u need lee Singapore".... We are amazed when we go to their country, and be sure they would be amazed when they come to ours. Banned chewing gum, no smoking, no littering, etc... while some travel extensively enough to discover how fortunate we are, please do not forget that for the convenience of mrt, electricity, safe country, nice food, etc... we too have our woes...we too have our hardships (though a lot of which are self inflicted) So the game (of HDB purchase) is set by govt, play by its rules. Though the rules keep changing. The important thing is to know the rules, know the life u want to lead.
