Ventilation Exhaust Fan Installation For Toilet ?
gimz63251073 replied to tientien's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
you can screw it onto the tiles, but u need to get a drill thats able to drill thru tiles without cracking the tiles. Dama.com.sg does customising. I did mine there, acrylic panel costs $46. (a large piece, as i covered up the whole window instead of screwing the panel on the aluminium frame. -
Just got back from the house not long ago. Lightings and fans are all up. Left some touching up and area cleaning by electrician. Now i no longer need to bring torch light when visiting the house! A picture of our DIY bird cage, exactly the feel we want! Tommorrow will probably be the handover for the electrical works. Finally another job done! Yay!

Where To Find Stainless Steel Rectangular Sink?
gimz63251073 replied to strawberry8's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
from my "tours" at shops, rectangular ones are much more expensive, i was told that due to need to bend it so higher cost. Have yet to seen one below $100... -
woah, hows living in your new home? your ID met your deadline for handover? *thumbs up if he did*

sounds fun...concindentally i bought wall putty for my electrician yesterday to fill up the holes and gaps. hope i can "steal a bit of knowledge" from him on how to do it properly. but since your contractor's workers are coming down to rectify, can ask them to help you mah, since they are already there..? Reasonably good effort by contractor to make amends.

hmm perhaps they are used to it already...many people box up pipes these days... stainless steel is like a dream come through for my wife. I am willing to sacrifice other things to pay for stainless steel, thankfully i didnt faint when i hear the price. Probably becos other contractors had set a higher expectation when they quoted me higher! I outsourced direct to carpenter. And in fact for a "Gloria" brand solid surface, he quoted me higher than stainless steel. Not sure why too?

we got it from Poh Joo. Hope that its a cheap and good one! haha...

the interior is white, the exterior is silver. A bit too light for my liking, the sample shown to me was much darker. But should still match the stainless steel top and grey floor... electrical works should be done this week. Satified with the work to date, except that the place is in a total mess now. the living room ceiling fan is up. So happy, we both like it so much....

for budget users: 1 set of 2pc WC @$168. Inclusive of dismantling old set, disposal and installation of new set. Comes with soft close cover (or u can call it slow close) Brand: Matrix (never hear b4, but it does the job of flushing well) Installed for: 4 mths, no issues at all. Toilet bowl not very different unless u are looking for designer ones. Budget ones will work just as well but lose out on the looks aspect.

Another view from living room: our shelving for housing the microwave, rice cooker, etc: the sink: i think they must be cursing us due to the work needed to cut this: Just found out today that the stainless steel countertop can only be done next week.

Some clearer shots by baby: No blocking of Natural lights! the intimidating cabinet doors... another view: contractor's brand of soft close, no drawer to try yet:

there are many kinds of shower screens... visit: http://www.aos-bathroom.com/ to see... need not have kerb, but somehow with a kerb it looks more steady to me...haha...
-
Looking on the bright side, we can sense some damage control coming your way. i always believed that there are many "hidden contractors" here...haha hope things turn out well, customer and contractor happy at the end of the day (things that happened along the way matters less...)

I think what is frustrating is that after paying them to do the job, we still have to DIY ourselves... don't you think its like buying a burger from Mac and the staff telling you to pack the burger urself? Anyway, for filling up gaps along the door frame, should use wall putty better or plaster better?
-
can always build a kerb. but not so sure if got place for the door to "swing"? if not have to get the sliding kind or the fixed panel kind.

i hate it when contractors say things like "its like that one", "no choice", "nevermind, no one can see". it certainly reflects their working attitude. To me, things like the main door, cracked tiles and painting (or the lack of), is simply not acceptable. Things like that can be rectified, its just whether the contractor wants to put in the effort to do so or not. installation of basin which is not centered also means sloppy work. who in the right mind would do it given that there is ample space? i feel for u...
-
most contractors would quote $180 thereabouts for a bi-fold door. get from outsourced companies is around there also, maybe save $10-$20. Not really worthwhile to make the trip and then be at the house for the installation of the door itself. Outsourcing bi-fold door alone not very worth it. Unless u combine it with doors, grilles, windows, etc... all do on same day maybe more worthwhile.

ur neighbour above has leaking floor due to waterproofing wearing off correct? like that u need to split the cost with him? duh?!! doesn't sound right to me leh.

the concrete cabinet base is slanted, becos the wall is slanted, so my cabinets also slants accordingly... the concrete cabinet base height also not consistent... The carpenter was introduced by a friend. Not done by designer house. (cheaper mah...opps... )

Hihi, not doing any works to toilets? Just to share with you my experience in talking to a Supreme guy. He mentioned contractors like to give lower grade of laminate (china made) to customers, which he said is not lasting at all and is commonly used for commercial areas (i.e. short term) So better check the grade he is giving you. Happy renovating!

Question On Glass Backsplash For Kitchen
gimz63251073 replied to vhardono's topic in Carpentry Works
offhand, they quoted me 4ft by 8ft - $50plus. can use maxbond to glue to wall.... -
yeap, i was that excited...hahaa. i was told my kitchen is ultra slanted, carpenter spent a long time making the cabinets level. they have installed the cabinets and measured the size of the countertop. They will be doing it, i think by end of the week would be done. can't wait for it to be up! Therefore, Electrical works and cabinets should be completed by Sunday (hopefully). Slowly the house is taking shape...

hihhi ngunadi, the air con trunking is two different size? Anyway to minimise the impact of the trunking?
