techincally, they charge delivery and installation for everything. not just kitchen cabinets. done my maths before, better to get carpenter to do the cabinets. IKEAs' seem cheap at first glance only. I counted before based on my kitchen cabinets of bottom -> 2.9m. i assumed that i would be carrying and installing myself, but IKEA's - after throwing in drawers and slides are not much different from the pricing of a direct carpenter.

if u install instant heater, he can charge u more for installation and electrical point. more revenue for him. you might want to dump the irresponsible/unethical ID as he is simply bullsh1tting due to his lack of knowledge or simply want to chop more money out from you. Truth: it never took more than 15seconds to feel hot water when i am using the shower.

Stainless Steel Kitchen Top
gimz63251073 replied to axx's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
mine is stainless steel top done by carpenter. no finger print issue - mine is matte. Scratches and watermarks are always there though. U can always put 3M polish to make it look as though its new. U been to the Song-Cho? Super chio and ex! but to have the stainless steel top, u gotta ensure that you do not clutter your kitchen top, if not it would defeat the purpose of stainless steel top. U can check out curryqueen's t-blog as well, hers is also stainless steel. -
people have been saying interest rates will go up, just a matter of time. no brainer? i dont think so. The truth is no one will know until it happens. an investor, if highly leveraged is simply a speculator who has much to win/lose depends on how good his luck or acccurate his view is. Smart or not, we would bound to be wrong at times, so if the wrong decision is made once and wipes out the 10 previous correct views, then how? i believe in slow and steady. Art of war "first be invicible, then seek victory" people who make money in property by leveraging are those who commit suicide when things turn sour as well. win big lose big. people i know who lose alot of money in property are those who leverage alot as well. so, what are the chances of making a wrong decision in a lifetime? I would say very high.

worst case scenario: rental drop until not enough to cover mortgage or not rented out. Likewise, property prices drop, u are forced to sell since you cannot make repayments. Thats the end. Finance theory would say increase leverage, increase returns. But they fail to cover the magnitude of loss when something drastic or unexpected happens. A very sudden and severe situation can potentially wipe out your leveraged properties. Chances of that may be low, but low does not equate impossible. Buying a property = paying rental ahead. Property is sold on lease, it never really belongs to you. People buy so that they can have a shelter when they are no longer working, i.e. no income. True property investors already have a fully paid home to live, they do not dabble with their home. The half past six property investor are the ones shifting from home to home due to their "investmen activity"

Made in "XX country" is really a whole lot of BS nowadays. My audit friend went to a well known jap laptop manufacturer. They would make all the components except for a few stuff in china, ship the parts back, put in the jap parts and assemble in jap. Then its sold as "made in japan". This is what they understand from the staff in Singapore.. btw, i was quoted $4.50 for supreme before, like a year and a half ago. Given the competitiveness of the market, i seriously doubt they would price their flooring so high. But really, supreme's flooring is a bit out of trend le...

different view for me on built in. Too restrictive, my needs would change over time so i would keep the flexibility in shifting stuff around. Ah yes, no dust is added benefit. on the aura? really? I can't feel my own aura really or other people's aura. Need to have special ability to do so..? I cant really remember things that well, so i surely hope that my memories only contain good stuff! Nowadays so hard to judge whether things are good or bad. Too many grey areas and good or bad can just a matter of perspective really.
-
uh nope, i not intending to get a built in stuff. Everything in my house is movable except for kitchen cabinets. Built in stuff restricts freedom...no good... yeap shoe racks are unsightly, but i still need to keep my even more unsightly shoes... as for "what goes around comes around"...i am generally not a believer in this. Not that i am going all out to do bad things, but i don't believe that "heaven" is so free to monitor each and everyone and to "issue punishment" out. Imagine a population of billions! how to monitor....

hmm yes i think that is the reasoning behind it. U but i told my parents, house too small, don't stack shoes up to the top, no place to put. haha... yes, on the missing slippers. they steal everything, my $2 slipper wear till no friction already also they steal.

Led Strips For Cove Light

i think so, can check with jaskel. but i would choose the cheaper option of T5. -
oh no, sad to hear about the poor workmanship... i also have no idea if my silicon-ed areas will turn black. As of now, they still white... grount lines not filled...? for which area?

oh mine is a 2metre tall cabinet only, not full height. I can take down if i tip toe. I put shoes that i wear occassionally up at the top. Cleaning is still ok, the shelves are all removable, so can take down to clean, though i think at most i clean once a year. So from the practical aspect, mine is ok. From the Fengshui aspect..?
-
My parents have said its not good to store your shoes at a height above your head. I asked around, some say they heard of this hear-say, most never hear before. I am generally not a believer of such things, but am curious to find out how many people believe in this and how "no- good" is it?

got mine thru floorxpert, before they were GST registered, so saved 7%.

Hi, i think for your case, laminates for bedroom only is not much of an issue. 1. Not very heavy traffic as compared to living room. 2, Not much eating and drinking, so risk of spilling is lower. 3. Main concern is wet feet after shower after coming out from MBR toilet. 4. Another issue might be not closing windows at night and rain starts to splash in. It does take extra effort and getting used to for me. (Living and bedroom laminated) I have thick rugs (use army green towel) to dry my feet before stepping out of toilets. ok, now for the part on how i choose laminates: 1. Price. (discarded Pergo for Robina, can't feel the difference) 2. Design (had discarded Supreme for Robina) 3. Water resistance - spray water on laminate joints for few days in a row and see the effect. Pour coffee on it and leave overnight to dry. Then try washing it off. 4. Scratch test. Use key, screwdriver, legs of chairs, and of cos i poke it until got a scratch mark. 5. User reviews (found out about Robina from fellow member, Ossify). Non-exhaustive list of test. Jaskel mentioned before that laminate colour would fade over time with direct sunlight, this one cannot test la... Things to note: - Level-ness of floor, not level will creak - Skirting colour is usually diff from laminate colour, can make a difference to the overall look - direction of laying. Lay in the direction to make the room look bigger. - need to take care of laminate, no wet mopping and be careful when moving furniture and electronics. ESP when moving house.

retirement age already old, still have to fly across countries to live in different homes... too much of a hassle for me. since there is a 1.6M in capital, i would have spread it across property and bonds (Stat board bonds) for income yield. Stable, recurring income would be the most important priority. Having said that, it would be hard for me to imagine retirement age as it is still too far away.

not u can...its u must. piping must be done before cabinet is fixed up.

Homely (hardware store) - around $11 Homefix - around $16? most hardware stores should carry it.

Financial Planning And Kids - How To Teach Them?
gimz63251073 replied to random_username's topic in Finance and Insurance
OMG! they must really be smart... i couldnt understand the concept of value as a kid. i.e. how come a $1 candy is expensive and a $100 hard liquor is cheap. btw, kindergarten already get pocket money? I think the lessons of financial planning is best explained in the book "Richest man in babylon". -
Which Laminate Flooring Brand Should I Use?
gimz63251073 replied to Folks's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
rule of thumb: NPNT aka no picture no talk. some tblog looks fake also. if consumers are really afraid, just don't get laminates. Get parquet, tiles, carpets, whatever. -

Hi, nice switches there! locally we usually go to choo chiang for the best deals. (electrical hardware shop) www.ccm.sg prices there much cheaper than outside. Rowell branch is a better outlet in my opinion. Avoid the Geylang branch unless u have no choice. Cheers! -
yesh yesh, please keep for me. uhhh the grille/door gate will be part of our WIW...heeee actually gate was suggested by wife...

thought about the dryer, decided to wait and try out the bamboo stick method first. So far weather has been cooperative, either sat or sun is sunny. haha... plus wind is big in my area, so will hold the purchase of heater.
