  1. Hi! u still around...haaha...hope ur hse is getting better uh...? CNS gate is still the main gate, more rust showing by the day... haiiizz this retro gate is for display purposes...
  2. hihi...welcome! whats your blinking floor all about? u gotta save the floorplan as a picture file and upload it to imageshack or photobucket sites, then share the link here. Cheers!
  3. Chalkboard paint can buy from art-friend (bras basah / orchard) or spotlight (i got mine from Plaza Sing) got spray version as well. very fun to play with! but dusty... Edit: went down to the physical store for estore.com.sg. Bad place to go, extremely messy and stuffy and prices online are not up to date (more ex at the shop itself).
  4. inverter or non-inverter --> turning off power point will spoil the compressor? frankly, i have not heard of compressors being spoilt this way as yet, not even in this thread. The air con at my parent's house is always on standby and has almost died by the end of 6 or 7 years. Probably due to normal wear and tear... As i am a very infrequent user of air con, i keep the 15A power point switch off at all times at my new house. Maybe i would be able to tell u guys a few years later whether mine is spoilt this way. speaking of compressor disturbing sleep, my neighbour above uses his noisy air con everyday - rain or shine. Its noisy and it keeps dripping water! Somemore theirs is the new set (renovations carried out around the same time as ours)
  5. geez... u can take a look at jeffcraze's tblog. he went to great lengths.. usually nothing much agent can do.... my agent (also buyer's agent) called me to ask if ex-owner had contacted me. Apparantly, ex owner still owe lawyer some legal fees and he went MIA (heard he went to his another house in Malaysia). So i just chuck all mail into the returned mail letterbox.
  6. Thanks Edward for the feedback. Sounds like a good enough vacuum cleaner for me, need it to get rid of dirt and hair on my white laminates. I would be going to Zhuhai/Shenzhen in March 2011, will see if i can get one there. Cheers!
  7. u can try placing a coffee table below the fan so that u would not walk below the fan and feel that it is intimidating. alternatively, u can get those "hugger" fans kind of ceiling fans, just go shop around balestier area. cheers!
  8. Rambo? so cute the name...haha... u mean it will bang itself to the skirting (if any) when cleaning..? is it smart enough to go from living room to bedroom? Lastly, can i know the chinese website?
  9. haha, u think super glue will not get you into trouble? no risk no revenge wor...
  10. singapore got tons of inconsiderate drivers... best is to buy a wheel clamp and charge them unclamping fee + parking fee (Per day).
  11. u gotta upload the image to photobucket/imageshack kind of sites first. there are some other plastic materials suitable for outdoor use, i.e. used as roof for cover walkways. u can check out dama.com.sg for a suitable material, they do deal with retail customers. But all materials will need some form of maintenance and have a definite lifespan, even diamonds do not last forever.
  12. ermm u would be doing some thing to the lourves above the bedroom door?
  13. Hey dex, mirrors look great! great writeup on the WIW stuff... would like to see the inside of your shoe area if possible...
  14. neighbour is an old couple, rarely at home...so no one complain me yet...haha... almost the entire gate is rusted, though if we spend enough time, can technically scrap off the rust. But its too tiring and we have deadline....having our solemnisation in late feb, so have to get everything up by then... still many projects to go....not sure if can finish... hmmmm
  15. uhmmm on my screen, the pics appear very small, so cannot view it directly and have to click open the images. whereas if u used the link i suggested, the picture is much bigger, though resized to fit the screen. $800 is for 2 toilets and kitchen pipes. Permit part can leave to the contactor ba, no worries. Its $800 for a very long time use as pvc pipes generally hassle free. Iron pipes keep rusing and if you keep painting, the pipe just keeps getting bigger...
  16. The half completed project Painted half the grille, too excited by the results, can't wait to show pics! Here it goes! The grille would be placed in my WIW area as a "feature wall". Will lean it against the wall for baby to hang some accessories, would take due care to ensure those accessories do not over clutter and cover up the grille. So motivated by the results! It has been a great success so far. Baby managed to convince me not to be lazy and to scrap off the old paint from the window grille as well. So that we do a good job one time instead of keep re-touch up later So it shall again be a busy weekend. We have looked at the grille, seems like the grille has only 1 layer of paint compared to multiple layers for the door grille. We sure are having fun!
  17. Continuation of door grille project Having coated the grille with tons of rust converter, we realised that some or lots of the rust did not get "converted" for god knows what reason. Hence decided to go ahead to paint it. Recap of the "Before" After rust converter: 3 in 1 paint -> Rust remover, primer cum oil based paint Great success with the paint, it stuck really well. touch dry in 1.5hours or so. A thick layer is necessary as there are still lots of rust and anyway i tried it on my rusting CNS gate, works like a charm as well. Probably will get another bottle for the window grille and use it up on the gate later.
  18. haha nvm loh....its like that one....do reno, no matter how careful, ID or contractor always have a hidden hand. heater installation is ok la, if u get 2 instant heaters, u need to pay 2 X installation costs! so look on the bright side...
  19. instant heaTER only need one water pipe, cold water to go to heater, then hot water come out via shower head. different from mixer. mixer need 2 pipes to mixer, one hot and one cold. then the mixer will mix and the correct temperature water comes out. think the best u can do is ask for discount...
  20. oh my god...please don't tell me this is the shoe cabinet..? yes, very raw feel. nIce!
  21. Uploaded with ImageShack.us hi, u can select the option for linking images "embed this image" --> "Forum" for easy viewing. yeap, u can check your town council website to see if they offer the service for changing pipes. My contractor charged me $800 for kitchen and toilet big pvc pipes.
  22. only MBR toilet mirror not from ikea... custom make mirror, ID should have lobangs, if not can try your carpenters. from my asking around 2 shops, the real good mirrors can cost 2 to 3 times more expensive than ikea ones, with wood backing and some effects at the sides. Hence, did not consider custom ones.... and i ended up getting a good discount for ikea mirrors at the "as-is" section.
  23. visited the geylang, rowell and toh guan outlets. toh guan is the best among them, more spacious to browse and staff are very knowledgable. staff will help u to get one sample of your selected switch, powerpoint, casings, etc. Then proceed to sit down at table and then u tell him how many u want. More organised. Went there multiple times to get supplies as electrician keep adding things... rowell is ok, but somehow staff that attended to me was unsure of things like what is a 1 to 2 connector for tv wire... which should be very common. End up the staff have to consult his "senior" on everything, so it took me a long time to get just a few items. Just my luck to meet an inexperienced staff. The good thing is they are open on sundays. geylang is the worst....i went to ask prices, but staff not friendly. Maybe becos they are busy with unloading of goods at that time? Went once and never again. To avoid in my opinion as its the most "unfriendly for retail customers". Maybe more suitable for electricians who do not need to ask any questions. Prices are definitely cheaper than elsewhere, a white MK double power point goes for $3.50 there. Its selling at $5.50 at normal hardware shops. I called up a few MK distributors to ask for pricing and choo chiang ones are the lowest.
  24. Bro, the bowls and plate only white ones on promotion. But quality is not bad, i bought a bowl there before, feels solid. im also aiming for it... not so sure about the forks n knifes, some ikea forks and knife really light weight (no feel)... i like the stave mirror too, but apparantly, i already have too many mirrors! For cutlery, can try Sia Huat at Temple street (Chinatown), some of their tea cups and pots are really nice.
  25. http://ana-white.com/plancatalog for u all guys who love to DIY, this site gives plans on how to make things!
