  1. guess u are tired since no pics.... btw...jasmine u mention from GR link....the place where bathroom accessories are generally cheaper?
  2. lol..better wait for his housewarming...hint..hint...hint......
  3. Even better when u play shooter games, u will know where the footsteps are and where the fire is coming from... Went to see the unit in CCK Central. Apparently the reno was done more than a year ago and looking at the condition of the workmanship, it is pretty good. The cabinet doors closed properly and still maintain the soft-closing motion very well. The hydraulic hinge also looks good, a slight rust but that is properly due to it being installed above the cooker. Sliding doors slide very well. Lol..they met reuben2 before they meet us and the unit they showed us has the TV console built inside the wardrobe, like what reuben2 wanted.... The best thing is that the owner keep a huge hairy spider as a pet!!!!!!!....
  4. Ring of Death... maybe after u change the unit, u will have 1080i/p configuration when u connect to AV receiver... I will be going tonight to view CLC's unit in CCK. Its not your unit...lol..................... They actually suggested ur unit but they sort of delay it cause of ur TV point issue....but then later I also told them no-lah, see another unit. I was thinking since I have ur review already, its better I see another unit.............lol
  5. lol....i will be meeting them after u meet them................... they r showing me a unit that they have work on in CCK but not Angteko unit.....lol
  6. Those packaged system like what Angteko has bought should be around the $1K region. The sound is ok but the best judge is still your ears. Go and listen to those a well. Bear in mind the packaged AV receiver will probably have some limitations, maybe in number of inputs and HDMI audio processing, video conversion.... It is good u count the number of inputs first, e.g. 1) PS3- Video - HDMI, Audio - HDMI. IF AV receiver do not process HDMI audion, then ur audio will be optical 2) Xbox - Video - HDMI (older system is component). Audio - HDMI or optical (similar to PS3) 3) Blu-Ray player (U are not using the PS3 as a blu-ray player?), Video-HDMI, Audio - HDMI or optical 4) normal DVD player - Video- HDMI or component, Audio-HDMI or optical (for older DVD players, maybe analog) Please note most AV receiver will have sufficient HDMI/Component input. But most Audio inputs will be in the number of 2 optical, 1 coax. So u have to pay attention to those.....
  7. I there are threads on Summit Design work....I remember generally they are ok..... Summit is one of the original 3 I chose to contact. But they did not get thru my second round. No feel with the ID...
  8. lol......dats y need u those to have the cinema feeling............for music, normally a 2.1 (front speaker and sub) is sufficient unless u going for surround music stuff....... for movie, definately at least a 5.1 so u need to have the speakers around u..... The AV receiver does many things depending on which one u buy. Some basic functions would be 1. Decode audio and send it to the speakers to produce the movie effect 2. Amplifier function 3. Video switching, so u could have many video inputs and one out to the TV (will support many out too...) 4. Video conversion, so u could have different sources (analog, 720p, 480p etc..) and convert to one output to TV.... My suggestion is not to leave it to the last as sometimes u need to cater for it in ur reno. As speakers can be satellite (those small but powerful one and nice looking one,), bookshelf, floor standing...etc. And most AV receivers are bigger than the normal players, so the console got to cater for it....... Go Adelphi and audtion and u will run the risk of being hooked.......but its nice...
  9. I visited the Keppel outlet and IMM outlet over the weekend. I must say that the sales person that attended to me at both outlets were ok. But the person at Keppel was quite pushy and use the typical approach of "my first sale of the day, gives more discount", "pay a deposit now and chose later" to try to close a sale which I refuse to, And I could see a slight disdain when I insist I will order when I had finished my round of viewing.... The person at IMM was cool when I did similar thing. A pity though cause I like the sofa set a lot especially on the mechanism which I do not find it, so far, in other shops. And yes I am also concern about their after-sales "support" in the other thread...
  10. mmm.....sorry mine is the old one, no HDMI. But normally should be setup as 1080p/i, 720p/i one. The resolution u mention is more for monitor display leh. 1080p full HD is 1920x1080..... The manual say got SPDIF out leh....http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/4/42pfl7409d_30/42pfl7409d_30_dfu_eng.pdf.......page 27.... the connector is mark SPDIF out, is just below the coax mark AV in..... yes, the connection is right if ur TV do not have SPDIF out...
  11. Hi Did u eventually bought those "waterfall" taps...and if u did, u bought from where?.........GR? 2day we went down IMM with the kids and they chose their mixer/tap and all of them are waterfall and ex ($300+).....lol........ We agree to let them take some money out of their savings and buy whatever they like for their room as long as it is within a reasonable cost...... Thanks in advance
  12. during pak-tor-ing, of course walk must be slow...and take opportunities too as the road is not well lited....the rest u can imagine........
  13. Hi Angteko Ur philips TV is 42PFL7409 right?.....if it is there should have a digital audio output. It is coax SPDIF not optical. Ur AV receiver should have a audio digital input as well. So u can connect it there. The AV receiver should pass HDMI video/audio to the TV and TV should then output the audio via coaz back to AV receiver. Pls note u will also need to configure the TV to output audio to digital coax port. U can try by using the normal composite audio cable first...if it works, then u can buy a better one. Hope it help
  14. If ur set comes with HDMI port, then u can buy the HDMI/optical adaptor which come with a cable. U are refering to this right? http://www.xbox.com/zh-SG/hardware/x/xbox360hdmiavcable/ I will say it will be the same, 1080p over HDMI or component. But not all TV (and for that matter AV receviers too) support 1080p on component. Most support 1080i only. Thus it will need ur AV receiver to do the conversion or just maintain the same.
  15. ya...not so fast...sekali more babies come....lol
  16. lol....only in Malaysia hometown........... but when I pak-toring with my wife, she stay in kampong hut......take almost 20 minutes to walk in from main road if walk alone....30 minutes if walk together
  17. The "old" Xbox arcade version only comes with composite video/audio cable (all analog). The current Xbox arcade version have HDMI port already. Which version u bought?.... Yes, that is the optical socket I am talking about. U will need a optical cable too to connect to the AV receiver. The component video will goes into the appropriate component video input. BTW component video typically is analog not digital, but they can achieve up to 1080p (though not common) resolution. Optical audio typically carries digital audio..... Your TV audio output may have optical audio output.... Also there is a switch on the xbox cable, remember to switch it to HD, and then configure ur xbox for 1080p or 1080i and enable optical audio...
  18. The current WII do not have optical audio nor HDMI. They have component video though but most games will run at 480p. HDMI support both video and audio (thus Dolby TruHD etc...). Some AV receivers do not, but most current dedicated AV receivers support it. By dedicated I mean it is not part of a HTS (lol..like Angteko one)............btw DVI support video only and it is similar to HDMI video part... Only PS3 slim support HDMI bitstream and LPCM, fat PS3 support HDMI LPCM only. But either way u get "true" 5.1. Most ppl will not be able to differentiate lossless from "non lossless" anyway...so IMNO not necessary a downgrade... I will say for all audio should go to AV receiver so that u can listen from the main speakers. U also get simulated surround from analog sources as well, or u can program it to be send to all 5 speakers...lol. Video u might not need to as some DVD players(e.g) already do the upscaliing and some ppl prefer the DVD players (those good ones like Oppo etc..) to do the upscaling then low-range AV receiver.... Hope it help
  19. There is a adaptor for Xbox that gives u the HDMI and optical point. I thought it come with the xbox (not sure, maybe depends on which package). But if u use the component cable, then it will come with the optical socket. It is on the connector itself. If u use the analog audio, then u will not have 5.1. The 5.1 is simulated by ur AV receiver.
  20. U mention component HD AV cable....if this is the right one, then it is for video not audio. For ur xbox, u should use the optical audio connection. Just buy the cheapest optical cable u can found, I do not think we can tell the difference....
  21. wah...I definately have move a lot if counted my childhood days....
  22. I do not think u are older than me....I am very old.........hee hee some soundbar (like Yamaha) is actually quite good for a 2.1, but if u like better sound, then can go Adelphi and do some audition....and maybe u will get hookon 5.1........let ur own years decide which speakers is good cause u will be the one listening...........
  23. lol....Tampines/Simei/Pasir Ris area... lol...thats the thing..not sure whether can do that...but the thought of making some money also tickle me...
  24. i think when u have kids, ur wife will prefer to take shower with her/him/them than you
  25. lol....actually one did made an offer which tickle me before the last round of changes were announced but after that he disappeared........now have one that is scheduled to view the place this weekend. But we are still not sure as it is quite tiring to look for a place again and we have look at almost all the condos in the area that we wanted before we decided to buy this unit.... mmm....decision decison........ but then I think I am quite sure we will sell this place as my daughter get married and move out.....lol oh...we are leaning towards..............(after the commercial break)....lol
