Hi sarah.. I know of 1 very nice freelance ID.. He is very dedicated and is the type who doesn't mind going the extra mile for you.. However if you engage him, you won't be able to get to see any reno quotation, only his service charge and after that then you source out the contractor with him and get the best quote with his design.. He got a few that he always work with, so can start with them. He will come up with very nice design and will help you save money where ever possible.. Hi.. We just got our lights at L*ghts Arc*de.. total of 1.7k.. kiv 300 for a pair of lights which we are not too sure of yet.. the rest include 21 downlights, a mix of single and double tube, 19 loose fittings for cove lights, 2 round toilet lights, 1 rectangular kitchen light and 1 round bedroom light and 1 dining chandelier. i think the range there is not a lot of designer looking ones so unless you are looking for more designer lights, you can check out this place. if you like designer looking ones, can check out park mall.. lights are nice and quite a lot of difference from balestier or jalan besar, but price wise also as 'nice' if you are looking for affordable and nice looking chandelier, you might like to check out pan tech and italu collection (the bigger store at the end of balestier)

Hi kaihauashley I think, basically, if you want to keep your renovation cost low, don't do too many custom made stuff, they call it the carpentry work.. once you have less built in stuff, the quote at any ID firms should be quite similar, as some reno works like tiling and painting, all quite standard rate, they can only mark up on carpentry stuff.. so the next thing is to see which ID you think can communicate well with or is responsible and can come up with a design you like..
