Splitting Of Entire Reno Project Into Different Phases/Sub-Contractors
Lovely replied to arowana's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
From what I'm reading here is u r the main-con, the rest is sub-cons or sub-sub-cons....so whatever make the wrong move is your call, such as buying a cheap wrought iron gate, it rusted after awhile, then start to complain here and there. As u want to save cost here and there which is understandable, then u must also understand that cheap doesn't mean good quality of material and workmanship. It a give and take thingy, no such thing as pay for a cherry QQ but want Merc quality. -
At least u know who to answer for when there are defects instead of sub-con a push to sub-con B, then to sub-con C and so on... Tot there always a saying, u pay peanut, u get monkey. Don't expect that cheap will give u good workmanship or quality of material, etc..

Hi Joel, I saw your post on your explanation just now but not sure why it was taken out? U do explained yourself quite well and at least let others understand the both sides of the whole issues rather than pinned all to your faults.
-
If talked nicely can't be resolve how? Think the hse owner already stated he had talked nicely to him but problem still lies. Saw he logged in but didn't care to explain himself so that even made what the hse owner said more convincing? How bout ask him to try explaining himself here so that we can hear both sides stories just as u stated? It also good for him and his business as things able to solve out nicely.

Should be reasonable enough.

$80k is average, $100-$150 is high end.

Its all about whether they know the latest products in the market or not but also need to warn u that new mean more ex. too. Happy reno.

testing for strength, then u should use a bowling ball rather than a meat cleaver. And using a meat cleaver on laminate, what strength r u talking about? Apply 10Nm of strength to see if the laminate will be chopped into 2?
-
To compare on carpentry work, we need to compare apple with apple, thats mean same design, same material and same workmanship. Others can give u cheaper quote by providing same design, same material but china workers. Or made in malaysia factory then bring it over here to install or same design but different material and so for.....so most really can't compare the pricing of carpentry, mostly from the price, I can only said it cheap.
-
U want to have pic printed on the laminate flooring also have. Not necessary that all laminate arev those wood finishing. Even vinyl flooring have those tiles design already.
-
Don't know what to say...meat cleaver on laminate...to test what?
-
Cheap doesn't mean good and good don't come cheap. If u think that sourcing for cheaper quote to save some money will in term give u the same quality material and workmanship of work then u r really wrong in thinking this way. Who don't want cheap and good here? But is there such good thing in the 1st place not? If u want a cheaper quote for carpentry, u can just buy a ST, see the classified section and look for those $45pfr cabinet, don't even need to ask around. And if u really read throught this forum before posting, then u should jolly well know the price of other forumers ID/contractor quotations. And u are the one who mislead others first, by not stating clearly that he only do tiling for u and your mum, and now u want to compare his quote on carpentry and electrical only. So who to blame? By posting so big on everything then ask for advise which u already engaged his services, who will not think this way. There are just too many self advertise ID/contractor ard here. If u think I don't understand what u r saying, and yes indeed I'm. Cos in the first place if u were to state more clearly and instead on his wet work pricing, just ask for comparasion on carpentry and electrical quote, then its totally different story.
-
Agree, fencer, u need to go on with your life by solving it asap.
-
Welcome to RT. Good Luck with your reno.

Don't need for others to think. U've already committed to his services and also work is already started, even if the price is too much, what can u do? The purpose of writting in this thread and other threads seem to me like u r trying to promote his service. Since u said he is good and hardworking, even paying him a price is consider reasonable. Moreover, this is not your 1st time engaging his services.
