oh yah!!! i got new windows installed today!!! so happy... shall post up the photos tomorrow.... i'm so happy i made the right decision to change all the windows in the entire house... the whole place looks so bright and clean now... hee...

eh... i'm for world peace... hahaha.... no doubt that work of the painter is really way below standard... but then, we met up with them and agreed to give them another chance to rectify the mistakes.... so i shall believe that there is a lack of communication or wat.... shall see what they do before i make any decisions.... i do hope it will not come to a point where i need to post their company or all the photos i've taken so far thou.... coz thou the paint job is bad, there are some good points at least.....

tks! ur thread is very interesting too!! it's amazing how much research you have done even before you got ur keys!! i'm impressed!! i'm not levelling my kitchen floor... i did consider that briefly but coz i'm having a laminated floor for living room, i was concerned that i may not be able to scrub the kitchen floor if i needed to... (thou i think i might really never scrub the floor.. mayb just mop it... )

i like these windows!! sg contractors or windows ppl tend to be more conservative.. difficult to find someone to share the same ideas. i wanted to use round black casing for the electrical.. the electrician keep telling me will be ugly.. i hear liao oso sian.. hahah...

LATEST UPDATE @ 27th March, 1845 painter say painting works is done and really for checking. so we went down to check after confirming with the painter that he has already done the 1st round of checking. very disappointed with the painting. for 1, there are air bubbles in the kitchen wall!!!! for another, there's actually a crack on 1 part of the paint!!! tons of other stuff we need to bring up to the painter but i seriously cannot understand how the painting can be so badly done by a 'professional' painter. hope to resolve this peacefully....

mine is more due to the fact that we "ala carte" some of the works. so take longer to coordinate. but it's ba lah.. we are not really in a hurry to move in.. thank goodness.. i'll talk more about my painting below..

my newly painted walls have these bumps that can actually be pressed down... (not sure if anyone knows what i mean) seems like air bubbles to me... is that normal?? i know for a fact that that part of the wall had paint peeling previously but i presumed the painter had known what to do.. my painter tells me it's all done and painted finish... what should i do?

LATEST UPDATE: found some problems in our painting... will have to sort it out with the painter...

wow!! u might just move in earlier then mi!! i'm thinking that everything might be ok only around may... hahahah....

oh yah.. i exceed my budget also.. now considering to change to system 1 instead of system 2. hahha.. anyway, i changed all the pipes in my kitchen and 2 toilets.. cost me $380 for kitchen and common toilet and $70 for MBR toilet. i doubt it's the cheapest but u can use it as a reference. hope that helps.

oh yah.. i wanted a walk in wardrobe, u see.. hahahah.. and i do like a more spacious bedroom! plus the spare room oso looks much more spacious now. heee.. i'm goin for a bare look.. so lots n lots of space, little litte furniture! hahah.. after all the renovation, not much money left to buy furniture anyway..

MBR toilet there's this super long crack on my toilet ceiling. lucky there's no leakage. just a rusty rebar. covering with cement was supposed to be fine. so will just cover it up with cement and paint over it.

MBR toilet walls the toilet wall tiles have yet to be fully extended. the toilet should take on a new look after the wall tiles are up.

extension of MBR due to the beams, there will be this weird shaped part in my MBR. we decided to use this area to hang our clothes or put a mirror there. any suggestions? i was thinking it might just hide the clothes from view due to the shape. hahahha.

extension of MBR i hacked away my storeroom to have a bigger MBR as i wanted a walk in wardrobe. i dunno what the previous owners did with the storeroom. the walls are in a disgusting state! it's so obvious which is part of the storeroom, which is the MBR... hahahha..

toilet walls my toilet wall tiles will be extended all the way to the top. i asked for just similar sized tiles as i will be spray painting the walls of both toilets. it actually does look quite nice with tiles fully extended. if my bottom tiles were cleaner or in a better state, i might had just considered having a tiled toilet instead of spray painting.. no wait.. i just remembered the grout lines.. i'm sticking with spray painting.. hahaha..

extension of living room still on 4th day of reno. when i went over at night, the extension was done. really fast. and it seems dry somemore. i'm going for laminated flooring so i didn't bother to top up with tiles. just gimme a level floor to prepare for the flooring can already. hahah..

my spare bedroom door frame my timber door frames are up. i think this was day 4 of the reno works.

water pipe the workers relocated the water pipe in the living room. very clever! hahaha.. i was thinking how they are goin to get any water since the sinks have all been hacked off.

tks for the warm welcome! i've edited the top post to include the prices of the renovation. you can take a look at it for a guide. there's still misc costs, i'll try to include them as i go along. designer house is not exactly 1 of the cheapest around. but i signed up with them coz of the positive reviews online. need to see the works of the contractor to really confirm if they are good. mine is not done yet, so i can't really comment of their workmanship. my bf oso likes light tinted windows but i was thinking that since we are both working, it's only at night that we go back anyway, so not much natural light to enjoy.. hahha.. but i think i'm goin for light tinted windows.. he's the decision maker after all..
