if you really want it, you can always import it..but should cost a bomb..or get your tiler to cut normal tiles so they look like subway tiles..
-
erm, but my total kitchen cabinet is 16 ft... the thing is, we cham siong with our PM to 'pao' our kitchen cabinet into one price and can see she tried her best to squeeze for us so if now i go back to her and tell her i want s/steel, i'm pretty sure the top-up will be hefty! she previously quoted me $2k for 10ft top + 10ft backsplash.

i think i was more excited during first appointment than the second one haha.. wah deducted from COV? but did you manage to nego the COV lower or did u pay their asking?
-
hey ossify, emailed u yesterday..pls get back to me! thanks
-
i was looking for subway tiles as well but wasn't able to find any at lian seng hin and soon bee huat. asked my PM about it and she told me it will require more labour to cut & lay these tiles. funny how its supposed to be a cheap option in the states..

ya technically, we can still change to s/steel but won't be doing so cos of cost..plus i've been convinced by my hb that s/steel will have scratches and not look so nice after a while. 22nd May is coming soon! this saturday.. so just sit tight!
-
tell your hb that s/steel will have scratches in the long run. so black glass easier to maintain.. congrats.. i also felt the same during our 2nd appt even though we didn't have to wait for seller to move out. do they have to pay you rental for staying one more month?
-
well at least they approved your expansion, lucky you! do you know what was the floor space that your bath was expanded by?
-
hey gimz, did you quote the brand & model number? its a Samsung Front Load Washer WF8650. bathroom expansion is a bit more tricky than beams, i s'pose. they're taking into consideration the extension of wet area, expansion to accomodate bathtub etc. we're prepared to hear a negative answer today when the hdb technical officer calls me back. just need to make some changes here & there till they approve lor. thanks dear, its a good thing we can wait..if we have to move in by a certain date, then we'll be really gone case liao. try mega discount store, gain city or everjoint..should be able to find around the same price..
-
looking good! noticed you extended your MBR bath..any issues with the HDB reno permit? i.e. did they give u grief over it?
-
hdb technical officer called me. not approved again!! very pissed off now! asked him what was the reason, he said same reason, cannot extend wet area. argh!! i told him hdb built a wall outside the toilet which cannot be hacked. and all we're asking is to close up that wall. he said he can only relate what their engineers say. after repeatedly insisting that others have merged and expanded their bathrooms before, he finally said he would speak to the engineers again. sian!! another waiting period. we've already waited two weeks for them to approve........ update: he just called me again to tell me the engineer is on leave! always on leave! last time delay 1 week say engineer on leave. now also on leave...ARGH!

welcome to RT! your place looks pretty much move in condition..not much to do then! congrats..
-
i like the second dining table pic!! all retail options are **** ex though... i also asked the same question as you about the bases in the kitchen. had to debate with several contractors about it, some insisted it was not possible to do without because the bases helps level the cabinets cos apparently flooring might not be level. Some just accepted that i didn't want bases. anyhoo, i think bases for fridge and washer aren't necessary..but its your call..
-
wah u must have been very gleeful with all that shopping! nice floors, i like! btw, you bought the same fridge as i did but i only paid $799..i suppose your NTUC vouchers balances it out.. and that bed technology thingy - way cool! wow..wish i knew about that before we bought our bed..but kinda pricey too eh? aiya, nvm as long you happy with your purchases can liao..
-
congrats on the completion of your reno! you've got a very reflective house
-
ya me too! so jealous. your diy shoerack very cute..
-
lol..ok i know who is your upholsterer liao. ya i got his contact online as well and emailed him previously about custom headboards. emailed him last week about the sofa as well..he only replied after you posted your message. anyway, his rough range still quite costly at $400+. sigh..see how first la. thanks anyway for checking with him! thanks! i would have preferred a stainless steel fridge but wasn't willing to pay extra . just have to make do lor. you've never ironed before? lucky you! i grew up ironing my own school uniforms, the pleats are the worst. HDB still tu-ing. i called up the technical officer again this morning to chase him. getting really impatient liao. he said he was outside and would call me back when he return to the office. i shall call him again later...*evil laugh* he must be getting sick of hearing from me.
-
your hall only has one light + one fan? will u be putting in more lights..? looks a little dark to me..
-
i bought black glass ones... very hard to find an affordable and nice stainless steel hob..most are really quite crappy!
-
Update on reno permit Called the HDB technical officer earlier today to 'cho cho' him about our permit. He said he forwarded our application to HQ for his engineers to process. And said this time should be okay.. *crosses fingers*. I asked him when can we expect the results, he said most likely tomorrow or Monday. We were expecting one week, so faster than expected. Hopefully this time they'll approve!

just realised your bathrooms have high ceilings......or at least higher than mine..*envy*

maybe try speaking to contractors instead? should be able to find one that can fit your budget..
