  1. Thanks gkbt, yes it is indeed from Malaysia. They are offering the outdoor water filtration system for $969 for the stainless steel type with 42 litres/min flowrate. They say that all they need to do is to change out the gravels every 5 years. As for the indoor water filtration, I contacted Kemp and they have been very helpful. I am now considering the Mavello JP101MX that they are selling for $1,688. I asked a few technical queries and I hope they can educate a little. By the way, did you mean that the two streams will exit the system simultaneously and that one stream will be utilized (washing, drinking etc) while the other stream will just be drained? Kemp also recommended to change the filter for the ionizer unit from 0.01M to 0.1M type due to the poorer water quality at my location. Otherwise, it keeps on clogging up. What is your opinion?
  2. In reading so many informative posts, I realize I have a lot to learn about water filtration and more recently, ionizing. Has anyone heard of the brand Drinkstar Alkaline Ioniser Water Filtration system? And what do you think of it?
  3. Without reading all the posts in the water filter thread, I immediately know I shd write to u. Ur knowledge of water and filtration system is outstanding.

I hv just recently moved into a new house and am hunting for water filtration system. B4 going into brands and manufacturers, I read a lot and mostly rcvd education fm ur posts! May I write to u personally? My email: limhockk...

  4. In what ways does front loader save elec and water? Apart from the way the laundry is loaded, what is different from front and top loaders?
  5. I have heard a lot of people saying that your chi will leave the house as soon as you enter the house if you have a window directly facing the main entrance. Is this generally true? My house is not yet complete, but the house has been bricked, walled and plastered. The walls have not been painted, however. Currently, there is a big window in front of the main entrance. So, once the house is completed, when you enter the main door, you will see Living Room 1 and then LR2 which has a window such that the window is facing directly the main entrance. I am contemplating if I should insist on bricking up the hole that is left for the window with the contractor. Also, it may leave more room for future ID creativity compared to just a window - what do you think?
  6. After reading the 3 pages of useful feedback, I gather that Rinnai and Fujioh are reliable brands. With these useful collective experience, I will narrow down my post to only Rinnai and Fujioh for now. I'd like to ask for your feedback & experience on the following aspects; Hood 1. We cook a lot, Chinese style - lots of steaming, frying, boiling. What minimum suction power do you recommend? I have been advised to go for hoods of suction capacity of > 900m3/hr. 2. If that is what your experience/gutfeel recommendation as well (ie >900 m3/hr), what particular Fujioh or Rinnai Hood models do you recommend? 3. Which stores are good bargain, reliable and provide good after sales service? 4. Have you used them personally? What is ur 'cookage' now? > 3 years? No complaints? 5. Based on your experience (can be what you have used previously or currently), what are the sort of routine maintenance and upkeep you need to make for the models you recommend? Hob 6. I am inclined to flame cookers than induction or hot plates. I saw a friend's Fujioh JPFG-773SGVL hob and the flame seems weak. What models of Fujioh and Rinnai do you recommend for big flames? 7. Same as (3) to (5) above, but for the hob. Looking forward to hear some real good experience sharing from you guys. LHK
