  1. Hi guys, need some advice here. I have erected a partition board in the common bathroom In an attempt to conceal ugly sewage and water pipes. Through wear and tear, the paint of the board which are in contact with water / moisture has peeled. My concern is that it may become mouldy and further peeling may occur. What are my options now? I have read that using a primer and a PU paint on the board may solve the problem. Any suggestions?
  2. thanks for the advice. I'm not given a choice on the size, as this is an option provided by the developer on the type of flooring. Last checked is that the ceramic is actually porcelain.
  3. hey all, what will you choose if you are given the following flooring options: 1) Ceramic - 800x800 2) Beige marble - 600x300 Choice is based on: 1) Aesthetic 2) Ease of maintenance 3) Overall value if abode is up for resale Thanks for any advice. Regards
  4. I have ordered 2 barstools from Winter. All i can say is that delivery is very slow. It takes almost 2 months to deliver. Reason given is that each stool is to be produced from Malaysia, bla bla bla.. Customer Service was good though.. The aunties who entertained me were forthcoming and sincere in trying to solve my issues.
  5. i bght most of my taps and shower from L pheno 3 months .. prices may not be the cheapest, but the design suits my taste more.. i hv no problem with their services at all, but i was not served by PRC assistant.. there were scratches on the tap and the assistant even volunteered to send all the way to my flat at punggol..
  6. yea, **** suay lo.. have contacted the gain city and their technicians will come and "check" this thurs. have specifically mentioned to the installer that the mbr is the one wif 15k btu. just got a quote from my id/contractor, total cost for tearing and refixing the box up and repainting will cost another $1.3k was thinking how well will this sit with gain city?
  7. Hi all, not sure if anyone has similar experience to share. Got a 15k btu panasonic aircon fr gain city and trunking was installed in feb and blower installed in apr. Temp was not cold. So got the panasonic guys to check. Apart from filling up the gas. Was shocked to hear fr the guys that wrong piping was used. Instead of using that for the 15k btu aircon, that for 9k btu was used. Problem is that all the trunking was already boxed up. Question: if I require piping to be redone, thereby tearing down existing box up and putting new one, can the related cost be claimed from gain city? Will appreciate anyone to share or advise. Thanks v much!!
  8. grrrr... was told that sharp system 3 shipment was delayed and without causing any delay in the rest of the reno work, i have no choice but to cough out additional $200 for a toshiba one.. bargained for waiver but no success
  9. good to hear that GS597 can bake. got it at gain city expo 2 weeks ago (at $439). remembered i saw it has quick menu for "cake" but the brochure din state it can bake. was worried for a while

  13. Thanks for sharing the diy tips. I'm also thinking of building a cabinet to store my vinyl records ( running to hundreds) now and a space for my turntable.
  14. Hi LV for your reply. yea i am planning for 2 compressors for the same reason. also dun wan to slave drive the compressors unnecessarily. hope the non-inverter version will be cheaper.
  15. Hi ossify, thanks for the advice. For my info: 1) what's the difference between joint and standalone? Does the standalone come with compressor (sori for the noobie qn) 2) As my guest rm can be "opened up" to form part of the living area (when there are guests), high chance i will need to switch on the 2 living room units and guest room unit concurrently. can the system 3 handle it? 3) which brand(s) will cost ~ $2.6K?
  16. ha, you mean my flat looks older than 6 years ar? guess it's partly due to photo quality also.. you know how "good" iphone camera is.. my alternations may not be "minor" per se.. looking at re-laminating the surface, re-chroming of legs, etc.. inspired by the stained oak veneer look and brushed steel legs.. alas, after browsing so many stores, either design cannot make it or price too high or both btw where is hommage? will likely visit sungei kadut this weekend..
  17. Hi amrasenelya, yes i have hacked 2 rooms to become 1 larger mbr-cum-study. my living room is L-shaped and i intend to fix the aircon on the wall near the kitchen entrance. Coupled with a tower fan at the windows **** room area.. hope to cool down area faster.. not sure if it's possible last thing i want to do is to slave drive the compressor (which leads me to consider having a separate compressor just for the living & dining area) if price of inverter and non-inverter is abt the same, i will go for inverter lo.. toshiba very ex le.. at least from what i was quoted at GC @ sengkang. Second to Carrier. Grrrrr... i will probably go to GC@amk and if i'm not wrong, GC is having an event at expo at end of the month..
  18. Updates: 1) Walls are down, kitchen and toilet walls hacked. 2) Chosen composite strips for living, dining area - white background with grey veins; bedrooms - coppery brown with slight shimmer. 3) 10 Jan 10 - chosen floor and wall titles for kitchen and 2 toilets fr hafary 4) Tiling to start 15/16 Jan when tiles are delivered. 5) Next task - WCs, basins, storage heater, shower heads.. Impressed with collection at Lookz , not so much with Poh Joo
  19. i'm looking at a system 3 (inverter or non inverter) of the following configuration: 18000 btu (for living rm), 12000 btu (mbr), 9000 (guest rm). so far i was told that only inverter can meet my requirement - mitsubishi starmex to be exact, was quoted ard $3k for inverter by GC. but somehow i feel the salesperson showed more inclination towards mitsubishi for some reasons. just want to get more opinions from the forummers.. anyone has any suggestions on the aircon system configuration? brand recommendation? etc
  20. was told by my id that paint over plastering may have hairline cracks through time. of cos can plaster and repaint.. and this repeats itself.. unless can live with it, he suggests wall tiling..
  21. I'm looking at coffee table, full height book shelf and tv console
  22. Has anyone used any reliable and credible shops that customise furniture? Saw some great designs from B* C**cepts and XQ**T but alas the prices are beyond me..
  23. Updates: 1) HDB permit obtained without need of PE. 2) Hacking of walls officially starts 4 Jan 10. 3) Expect to receive 3d visualizations today. 4) 5 Jan 2010 - site visit with ID and view samples of composite strips for Living & Dining flooring.
  24. hi there, was told by toshiba salesperson that DDM is less noisy than the standard motor (which i assume it's running on belt) as the former relies on tiny rollers.
  25. hi amrasenelya, i am still toying with the idea of overlaying the living/dining area with composite strips or hack and lay homogenous tiles. according to my id, he has 42 different texture/colors/shades to choose from, will be viewing samples of them this coming week. when i first see the toilets, was thinking aloud, the toilets need to go all 3 rooms will be totally transformed. can't wait to see the 3d visualizations this week
