Wow.. very happy to read about the experiences everyone has had with taobao, I've been browsing for stuff for very long but wasn't sure if it was reliable/ cheaper/ safe etc! Now i think i am definitely taking the plunge... uh oh, bank account will be very sad for the next few mths! I have some newbie questions though: - What is the difference between taobao, tmall (and the other similar variations) - How do I go about registering for an account (based in sg) then source for the cheap/reliable agents? Are there restrictions e.g. if I enter my details as in Singapore, I can't order/ purchase items? - Is there a time limit to consolidate purchases through shipping agents? - Are most of the 'branded' items (e.g electrical stuff, kitchen/bath fittings) authentic or just knock offs (e.g. eames chairs are obviously fake...) Sorry for soooo many questions! TIA to fellow RT forummers for helping me out!

Hi everyone! I have a move coming up in a month's time and basically I need recommendations for a reliable mover who is experienced in dismantling and reassembling Ikea furniture (especially the fragile PAX wardrobes!). I've called a few for an initial quote and it seems a lot of them are reluctant to handle the dismantling.. Please do share if you have used any movers who did a good job! Any advice is appreciated!!

Hello everyone! I've been procrastinating for the longest time but I've finally started on my mini makeover project for my 3-rm HDB in the west! Renotalk has been very useful for my research and sourcing of contacts/ items so I wanted to 'give back' and post my progress and finds here! Be warned, this will be a T-Blog that will stretch over months as I only have weekends to work on the project! Because we have been living in our flat for donkey years and hoarding our possessions over these years, the project is a bit of a challenge! Most of the finishings are in their original (HDB) condition as well so there's lots to do. I won't be making any structural changes as much as possible and plan to reno the kitchen + 2 baths later as am on a limited budget, sigh. Over the past weeks, I've actually started on some simple works like fresh coat of paint (does wonders!), buying new furniture and accessories etc. Will be posting pics soon, stay tuned! xoxo, Twiggy
