Told my contractor that I want my ceiling to push up as high as possible. But he didnt follow my instruction and got his sub-con to follow back the old ceiling height. The following pic shows that the ceiling grid was about 100mm below the white wall. I was very pissed as I already told them I wanted to install a ceiling fan. Although the fan that I bought is suitable to be used for houses that have a ceiling height of 2500mm, I instructed them to re-do the entire ceiling grid in both bedrooms. From the following pic, you can see that the ceiling grid on the left side of the wall has been pushed up to the brim of the wall. (The white horizontal box is my cove lighting using blue T5 light tube)

Another stupid mistake made by the plumber!!! The showerhead was not aligned with the mixer. Although it was different by only one small piece of mosaic, I told them to re-do it, as I don't see why they couldn't have it aligned with the mixer. So the workers LL but have to remove two mosaics tiles just to have the head aligned.

Thought finally they finished up the toilet tiling works. But then, to my horror, they forgot to put in the cistern. No flushing button on the WC wall!!!! REally **** stupid of the tilers to tile up the back wall of the WC with mosaic when the plumbers have yet to put in the cistern. Workers hacked open a hole and thought can just put in the cistern. But the plumbers didn't realised that my Geberit flushing system requires a depth of 200mm. So end up they have to hack open a bigger hole just to house the flushing system.

my plan was to leave the wall raw without any finishing, but the waterproofing workers overdo the waterproofing and part of the toilet entrance wall was covered with black waterpoofing membrane. I could have salvage the wall by having it painted in white, but then it will be similar to what I have in the bedroom. As such, I decided to clad the toilet wall with thin bricks to create a different look. Hope it will turn out nice.

The progress of my hse reno is still very slow. So slow till the renovation permit expires. Anyway, here are some pictures of the works done on site. The toilet wall almost completed. Will most probably leave it in this raw finish. New wall which is separating the two bedrooms. Like the toilet wall, this wall will be in raw, white paint finish. Toilet pipes are almost done. Door frames installed for the two bedrooms.

It is not powder coated. If I'm not wrong, it is known as black anodised frame.

Flooring cement screed for this area? Looks like paint finish on the flooring. Nice,.

Renovation progress has been slow as I was indecisive and slow in confirming the works with my contractor. The only work that has been completed so far is the window. I quite like the black frame clear glass windows, as it gives a timeless look and hope will go well with the rest of the furnishing when the place is done up. Meanwhile, these are some pictures to share.

After much waiting, the hacking work finally started on 22 March. Within three days, the whole place is almost demolised, except the external wall and the roof. Now the whole place looks so spacious. Initially I thought of creating a pitched ceiling beneath the existing pitched roof, but now I have to drop the idea as there are way too many metal structure running across the roof at different height. Will talk to the sub-con for false ceiling on how I can push up the ceiling to a higher height, as I have plans to paint my ceiling in dark grey colour.
-
I'm staying on the top floor and it comes with a pitched roof. As I'll re-doing the entire false ceiling, I'm wondering whether it is possible for me to create a 'pitched' false ceiling as shown below. Did open up some part of the ceiling and this is how the existing roofing looks like.

congrats on your move-in. So you manage to get approval to have the door tilted? Mine is still pending HDB's approval.

Went to IT show today and bought a 42-inch Philips LCD TV at $999. Original price was close to $2K. Read from some forums that Philips TVs are not so good, but then I couldn't find a design that is as sleek as Philips. I hope it is good buy.

Hi Clementi PR Will go down to take a look this weekend. Thanks.

I think I will just go for these tiles for my toilet. one wall where the mirror and the rain shower are will be cladded with black/white/grey mosaics and the rest of the walls will be in black glossy tiles. Hope I make the right choice.

Anyone know where I can get such black wall tiles? Have been searching high and low for it.

Have been rather busy the last few days, as I need to finalise the scope of works before the reno works go into full swing. Still contemplating if I should be using epoxy paint for the entire flooring, or should I just use the epoxy paint at the hall & verandar. My contractor has shown me some samples of epoxy paint in high gloss finish, but then they are not durable and scratch resistant. I can easily scratch the surface of the sample board with a key. Durable epoxy flooring so be very hardwearing and abrasion resistant. Anyone out there has ever used epoxy paint for the flooring? This is the type of flooring that I hope to achieve for my house. http://www.flowcrete.com.my/images/product...ads/file146.pdf

I'd like to seek some help in designing a feature wall that comes with white stripes that comes with cove lighting. The following is the design that I have in mind. I'm worried that it may not turn out to the way I want it to be. Would appreciate it anyone out there can give me some advise as in how thick the feature wall has to be and whether there is a need to have LED lights along each side of the white stripes

I guess you have paid quite a big sum for ur flat. If you can afford, I suggest you may want to leave it to the ID. It is really tiring to plan, design and coordinate the reno works. purchasing of furniture & fitting alone can already be a big headache. Till now I only purchased a washing machine and fridge; the rest of the items have yet to purchase. Sigh.... no money is like that one.
-
Just want to seek some comments here. Not too sure if this is going to be a nice design, but I believe it is something that is bold and unusal. The feature wall will come with strips of white lines, which will be recessed and come with cove-lighting. But my worry is it may not turn out to be as nice as what is shown in the dwg below. Option A Option B (designed by my archi frd)

I dont quite like the effect of LED lights as u will see a lot dot dot dot. if u know what I mean. But anyway I will explore with my contractor to see what is best. Thanks for sharing.
