  1. On another note. I will REALLY be taking photos soon
  2. I know this is rather out of topic, but rather than focus on all the negativity and pessimism, I have decided to post on what I have learnt and gained from this AH Soon saga 1. I have designed my whole house by MYSELF and the concepts are mostly mine. 2. I have learnt to look for many things and the many rulings that a house needs to adhere to. 3. Most invaluable i think, is that I now know roughly how much the services and materials cost, and thus the amount of profit that Ah Soon and other IDs make Perhaps even how much the subcons make! 4. I have learnt to be more patient (NOT necessarily for my students) when dealing with people. 5. I have learnt to put myself in others' shoes more often now. 6. I have learnt that while there are many people who are nice, caring and offer sincere advice and help, there are perhaps slightly less or the same number of people who are mean and are happily goading the victims. 7. I have learnt how to deal with money and learnt when to make payment. 8. I have made some friends, though there have been some unpleasant experiences, but mostly, it was positive. My most memorable moment was having durian in JB with Mr. Seashell 9. I have seen many loopholes in the HDB rulings, how the govt play superb taichi and how the rules all favours the banks! 10. I have learnt where to get the best deals and products for my house! 11. Last but not least i ENJOYED the whole renovation process. I know i sound insane (and probably the only one who has thoroughly enjoyed it) but I really do (you can ask my cousin seriously!!!)! I have enjoyed the entire shopping for the same theme but must be functional and reasonably priced household items, equipments, building materials etc.... I have also ENJOYED how I had to start reading many design magazines, websites and visit many interior companies to get ideas for my house. This is the second house I have renovated, but seriously, it is the MOST enjoyable to date. There was drama, lessons learnt, frens made, money lost, lotsa knowledge gained. These I would NEVER have gained from simply just employing an ID. I am thankful in a way that I have employed a contractor, cos in the future, I will never engage another ID or contractor. I will simply do ala carte and DIY from now on. Trev

  4. You will be surprised by how much your ID earned from your project. I think I have learnt many things from this saga and I would never gotten so much drama, and knowledge if I had been lazy and just employed an ID to do everything for me.
  5. Actually, even after he ran away, the amount i pay is still about the same as ID. That is HOW much IDs overcharge us!!!!
  6. DEAR ALL, I, FINI and SEASHELL are calling for a final showdown with uncle this evening! We are thinking of getting him to see ALL of us at his place at 9p.m. tonite. Do PM me if you wanna join us. Trevor

  8. To be fair, ah soon should be taking full responsibility for it, NOT us.
  9. I think i have said it rather clearly. we are aware of delays of up to 3 months. If we had known about his money issues, we would have expected our job not to be done and NOT signed with him at all. Clearly, none of the blogs in August hinted of his money woes. MM please do not put my words in my mouth. i DID NOT blame any of the ex-customers. I have just been explaining to you why most of us did not see Ah Soon going into financial ruin. We know. We just do not see the need to tell you I have already explained to you and I hope that you can accept simple logic and facts. If you actually read the thread, clearly, that is so NOT the case. We were told of vague warnings like he will delay, you need to push him, he will fly people aeroplane. No WHERE, absolutely, no where was there any mention of financial problems. I think it should be the other way round. I hope that you can go read the thread again and get your facts right before giving pointless analogies. Trevor
  10. Bro, saying it out is in our interests, so that we can take precautions in case sub-cons take revenge on our homes! i think at this present moment in time, all the victims are already used to it liao and NOT surprised that uncle will eventually in due time get beaten up by someone else.
  11. I have mentioned it several times on this thread. The warnings are as follows: 1. Uncle will drag for a couple or 3 months. 2. He like NJD for 1/2/3 weeks sometimes. 3. He likes to HO late and dun really follow through on some promises. But in reality when we signed, uncle dragged our reno for more than 4 months. Took our money to do others' houses and have serious $$ issues. THESE were NOT forewarned. Therefore, the warnings were NOT on the wall at ALL!!!
