  1. Welcome to RT!! Wow your layout is those of condo style one lo.. all squarish.. Envy envy Wish to see your transformed nest soon... Waseh substantial hacking work involved wor.. must be v costly ba the reno cost..
  2. Here is rough sketch of furnishing placement and reno work for the new flat on the floor plan... http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/M...ithideaplac.jpg Pardon my poor PC drawing skill. first time using my sis' Adobe Photoshop C3.. My debut neh
  3. Yours super good buy lo, how to compare? Yup, will try to post the pics soon coz it is now with the husband.. reno tentatively slated to start 2nd week of Dec.. Hope yours will be a smooth one too...
  4. *Phew* after nearly 12hrs of worth shopping... Exhausted liao but must update progress to keep the flame burning... Hahaha Today's errand and some good 'lobang' spotted to share (quite a long post, sorry ah): 1) Bank Loan - went down to RHB bank at rail mall to enquire on the reno loan package + the repayment details, bla bla.. Read from forum that so far they offer quite competitive interest rate. Our finding: 3.22% for flat scheme or 6.25% for Variable scheme + 1% processing fee.. For those who is not so 'financial savvy' as myself and Miko. Just to share, the difference between both loan type lies on the fact that variable scheme allow repayment (i.e. partial or lump sum payment of outstanding loan amt at any point of time). As such, no interest will be incurred from the moment u clear your debt.. For flat scheme even if you pay all off before the agreed repayment term, you'll still be charged total interest levied on the disbursed loan. Branch Manager and his staff who attended to us are very friendly and helpful and whoosh less than 30mins we have cleared our doubt, filled up relevant form - no waiting involved at all unlike typical consumer bank.. 2) Contractor Somehow different from majority of fellow renotalkers, so far we have only approached ONE sole contractor (last Sat) and today, we signed on dotted line.. Tadah... Given my usual 'look see look see' pattern, I'm surprised at myself on this decision too... Hahaha.. but no regret coz he's really a nice gentleman - MD of the reno firm. (I actually don't know at our first meeting) He was being referred to us by one of my relative and she is all praised about him. Called him last Sat and intend to make an appt but aft knowing mine is a resale and already gotten hold of the key. He offered to come to our place on the very day itself (within a notice of less than 2 hrs) and understand better. First thumb up!! So far, haven't read any posts on his firm on this forum though. Could we be the 1st one? Price wise not sure whether cheap anot coz no comparison but we seriously feel it's reasonable given the amt of work involved... Hope we aren't wrong 3) Hommage trading Super lotsa of review abt this company. No need me waste more saliva. Went down to check out dining table sets. Didn't find any to our liking. Any other shops to recommend???? Cheap & nice design.. They are having promo now ' any coffe table + tv console" for $799. Super good deal coz the designs are quite lovely. Not lok kok lok kok kind but of course workmanship wise hmmm.. Unfortunately, me already placed a deposit for Mondi coffee table (bought $699!! lo, My GOD on the spot faint when Eric, Hommage boss told me on this promo) and dun intend to have console so gotta forgo this deal. Saw a comfy & unique couch. Intend to buy it if it can fit into our small tiny MBR. Need to confirm on the measurement b4 placing order. 4) Gnee Hong Furniture (read abt this from one of the post abt cheap italian looking chair) Err, dun waste time. Skip.... 5) Creative Living Quite sleek and cute kitchen utensils and stuffs. Now having 'MEGA' sale as they proudly state on the big banner.. Hahaha, honestly not really dirt cheap kind but price aft discount is definitely cheaper than most major dept store. I compare liao no worry.. moku mama to the rescue.. Bought a Joseph Joseph toughened glass cutting board (swee!!!) for $27.. Very catchy design of veggie or fruits. Highly recommended. Initially worried that may break easily but shop manager reassured us and dropped my purchase pc on the floor just to prove how sturdy & tough it is.. Was shocked when she dropped it on the floor but when she lifted up that solid 1 whole pc, I was really convinced!!! Wapiang... Power lo. Lifetime guarantee against breakage leh for mere 27 bucks!!! So in the end I bought not only 1 but THREE.. Hahaha.. Bought a set of salt & pepper grinder at 50% disc, one mettalic rubbish bin for 8bucks (55% off) and for the husband, a WHOPPING 19bucks for 1 kuku tiny tea infuser. That more or less sums up the whole day event.. PULL STOPP for now... SHOWER time..
  5. Another proud Westerner!! Jurong area? TQ for your suggestion. Did consider knocking down the wall between MBR & bedroom. But decided against it after considering the possibility of renting or selling this flat in future coz due to work commitment, may need to stay abroad for a couple of yrs.. Still we are going ahead with reno (no short change but with tight budget la) given that this will be our very first love nest..
  6. TQ!! Cheers to Westerner.. During the very initial stage of 'flat scouting', was looking for potential house around lakeside mrt too coz it'll be ard 2km of our parents.. Add. HDB grant of 10K$$$$$$. However couldn't find any suitable one given my 'choosy cum fussy' character.. so in the end no choice have to expand our network of search.. Hee hee... Lakeside is good more tranquil compared to Jurong west central area..
  7. Thanks, Rainbow Gal!!! Bought mine at GC (M. Square) and the salesman that served us oso recommended Sanyo.. Still considering coz hoping that 'heng heng' the LG unit we bought super ultra durable.. I'm a through and through westerner... New place at J.West Central at the moment by the lake..
  8. Hi macbart, So interesting story behind your house... It's really a solid good buy!!!!! 315K for a 4room in such prime location (no horse run)!!! Seriously... Shall look forward for further transformations...
  9. Thanks, Macbart! Feel at ease that at least there are peeps who are reading my post besides myself.. hahahaha.. The flat is of 9 years old close to 10... Not too sure whether it's considered new though. But quite odd shape rite? Except for the livingroom, all other areas are quite small.. in particular the MBR (only enough for a bed!! But good la save $$$ coz no excuse to buy more bling bling stuff to dress up the room).. Shall post some of the pre-renovations photos aft I got hold of them..
  10. By the way, I need advise from fellow 'renotalkers'.. Have actually placed deposit for LG artcool sys 3 inverter earlier. It looks so cool lo.. our heart is set on this on first look... So despite the price is way out of our budget, we still 'nge sih' (die die) oso dig out money for that.. (Ya, the salesman oso tried to discourage us from buying but he nv mentioned abt durability rather on pricing and specs) However, when we googled it to see any reviews on this particular model, seems most of the comments are negative leh.. (borke down la, LG lao ya brand la, bla bla...) Haiz Now v worried and thinking of changing it to another inverter model under Sanyo (cheaper oso).. How? Practicality/durability vs Aesthetic? Logically should choose durability rite? Help!!! Anyone uses LG Artcool series of aircon previously or at the moment? Any comment to share? Installation is scheduled next Sat so will need to make up our mind before mid next week... Aiyo.. Headache leh
  11. Have been actively reading up posts in renotalk and developed the enthusiasm to start a post on my own renovation. Wanted to document down our whole renovation journey. Oh my, like giving birth.. Hee hee.. And love the the fact that, here it is a channel to share any tips and do(s) & don't (s)... Miko has put on a disbelief look when I told him that I'll be starting a mini journal online (me being a lazybum when come to writing). Must prove him wrong no matter!! Hope I will be conscientious enough in my posting and keep you all guys posted on the progress... To start with, mine is a resale 4room flat. Key collected mid Nov. Currently looking around for contractor to do up the place. Here is the floor plan (odd shape = unique???)to share... Any comment is welcome.. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/M...defloorplan.jpg
