  1. Hi Nesh, no bad feeling I think your comment is true at some district where non-chinese like to stay. For example Oct 09 balloting, Woodland will have more units for Chinese but lesser units for Malays. Other local area like Bishan, there is more units for Malays than Chinese. Perhaps, that newly Singaporean non-chinese family pick area like Bishan. Those first time Singaporean Chinese had be queuing like mad and still cannot get one unit, can only see this unfairness happening. I am not commenting it is a race or foreigner issue, I felt it is a HDB and immigration department not working together. When there is more group of typical races joining Singapore, they should revise their policy. Or best, at the moment, halt the ethical arrangement and allow the young couples to get their houses first. Then when more houses are built adjust the ratio back slowly. Or else those houses will be empty waiting for a particular race come, but those who really need can only feel sad they are born in the wrong race group. Nesh, I agreed with you, your children should consider to change to Chinese. Whereas I need to change mine to Malay. This will allow them to have a better chance to stay closer to us, if policy still go in this way.
  2. Hi Mr B, I can guess what the HDB will say, they are not Chinese. A lot of time when we Chinese go and get an unit, you can see there is still a lot of good units available. However, there is not one unit available to us, Chinese, due to the hdb ethical arrangement. In my view, it is not the foreigner or the HDB's staff, it is the HDB and the government policy that need some improvement. Otherwise, we should check with the hospital if we can change our new born's race to Malay or India, their life will be a lot easier.
  3. Hi Downlight is a way of fixing the light to the ceiling. Normally, use when you have false ceiling. Halogen light is a type of light bulb. For downlight, you can install halogen, compact fluorescent light bulb or traditional incandlescent bulb. I think more people install false ceiling, it is not suitable to install normal circular lamp fixture, it will make the ceiling look lower. Most people prefer halogen bulbs because the light looks closer to sunlight colour. For dining area, it is great. However, for reading purpose it is a bit to yellowish.
  4. Hi SP, Your calculation of $50/year is your whole house lighting? $50 in a year is a lot, I calculate per bulb it will take more than 4 years to save that much at 7pm ~11pm. What is the maker of your China led light?
  5. Hi Rock, I felt something in E27 or B22 base will be better, as it allows you to switch back to CF bulbs. If you have problem with the bulb or you need to sell your house, you can easily replace them. For other base of LED light, I observed it requires modifying of the cabling or adapters. It will mean if you switch to those bases for LED to switch back to the original or something not LED, it may required rewiring.
  6. Hi Spaceboy, You can give Radio 100.3 a call or sms on this topic for their Tuesday morning and Thursday morning around 9:00~10:am. Tuesday, they do finanical advising on that 1hour session. They got this guy Mr Leong Sze Hian from President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and etc. You can check out about him from this link. http://leongszehian.com/ You can listen to their program on this link, click "Finanical tuesday" http://www.radio1003.com/podcasts.php One bad news, that guys is not available coming 2 tuesday. He went oversea to give some seminar. You can try Thursday program at the same time, where another guy from ERA came to talk about property. The radio station is helping to guide people to look after their money, property and investment. They may be able to advise you the best channel to go. Your case "Bankrupcy cheat money by selling her HDB", Mr Leong may like to know of it. I think he can advise something you can do with her OA. I felt you should file a complain to Case on the seller's agent. He failed to do his job. The bankrupter should not had go so further with you, the agents should be your first line of defense. www.case.org.sg
  7. Hi Kelvin, 7 years ago, I bought an LG system 4 from them. The air-con is okay. The service is below average, can see a bit of damage one of my unit after they installed. The installer are lazy people, they will choose the easier path for them to pull the piping. You must decide n b firm where you want the unit to be installed and be around to see them do the work. Generally, the pipes n the insulation they are using are quite good during that time.
  8. Hi Gensemi, What is the brand of LED light are you carrying? Where is it made?
  9. You can go Ikea and take a look. There is one that cost $35, where the fixture uses 3 sets of E27 CF light bulbs. The fixture looks like a normal circular fluorscent 40W type, but inside it is using E27 screw type light bulbs. Note: light bulbs are not include in the $35.
