  1. if u wanna remove the filter. u can just use a length of pipe to fill up the gap in the place of the filter. but imo, its good to have the filter in place. use the C-shape device to turn the filter base out and u can remove the filter cartridge. If u dun wanna bring the whole filter, just take a look at the filter. 1 type i know of has a black plastic part at the top end, the other type is white filter from top to bottom. and yes, you must off the water supply first. usually there is a knob just before the filter to facilitate shutting off the water
  2. dunno leh.. personal opinion is, if fan blade is too close to the cove light, the fan might cast flickering shadows in the hall. causing unnecessary irritation.
  3. just changing the cartridge will be sufficient. unless you are redoing the whole piping, then replace a new 1. i think there are only 2 types of filters in the market. available at most neighbourhood hardware stores. just bring your current cartridge (take it out, wash and dry) to the shop and show them. they should know
  4. i think to fit cove lights and ceiling fan, the size of the hall is a consideration. If cove lights are too close to the wall, insufficient lighting (an ID told me this, need minimum 1.5ft clearance from wall). If the hall is too small, after installing the L-boxes, the space left will not be sufficient for a ceiling fan.
  5. from the looks of it, due to the proximity of the BTO launches. Its prob the same group of people applying for every BTO since the results for the previous BTO isn't out yet. the subscription rate could be falsely reported and is not a genuine indication
  6. i'm in the same situation of 6 weeks extended stay. but the sellers are very kindly family and thus, i don't have any issue with them. that day i made arrangements with them to go up and take photos to facilitate my ID shopping. when i leave, the uncle even say "need to see anything, just call. you already bought the flat. dun worry about disturbing us"
  7. condo is all about size and location. to get a condo at the same location as the hdb costing 40k COV. the condo is gonna cost almost than double the hdb price. for eg: the centris. its just opposite my 5rm in jurong west. (39k COV 423k val). a small 2 bedroom cost about 7-800k. 5% of that is about 40k but the balance 15% is gonna burst our CPF greatly and thus, need more cash in the end. unless u go for projects that are further away and not as accessible, condo isn't much of a consideration.
  8. i guess u did not redo the flooring. without doing the flooring, theres not much u can do about the water lvl. if u did, then ur ID did not do a good job. i dun think there's much u can do about the problem since you said water will gather at the corner if u seal up the hole.
  9. nvr did that. went for a week long holiday. came back, turn on the power and showered after 15 mins.. no problem to the water tho..
  10. i paid 39k. bargaining down frm 47k asking. top floor 5I in jurong west right next to jurong point. Granite/parquet flooring
  11. i prefer the higher water pressure that comes with using a storage heater. Actually, regarding the electricity wastage, the power bill for my place actually goes down after i got a storage heater to replace 2x instant heaters..
  12. Went through the quote with Idzign yesterday. So far, after elimination of non responding or not potential IDs. only left with Idzign meeting intradesign and ideal design studio next week.
  13. Just met up with my ID frm Idzign yesterday to discuss my quote. So far, the pricing looks reasonable. Asked them to arrange for showflats to view to witness their workmanship. Nobody done their reno with Idzign here?
  14. i think ur rite. need to fulfill the MOP (1 year for bank loan) before u can sublet the whole apartment out. for room sublet, not required. but owner must also be staying in the apt
  15. after viewing 40+ units and finding a unit that we loved in prime location, we feel that its worth the wait.
  16. garment will take back ur unit at ur purchasing price.. if im not wrong..
  17. not advisable to overlay over hdb tiles. hdb tiles are known to be of poor workmanship and have a tendency to "pop" after some time. If you overlay it, when it pops, your new tiles will be affected too.
  18. im currently waiting for my 1st appt. but i've started sourcing for an ID the week after i signed the option. i feel its better to give the IDs more time as there might be multiple changes to the design involved. and after 2 mths of shopping. i have yet to decide on an ID yet.
  19. u can own 2 hdb flats for a period of 6 mths. coz u have 6 mths to let go of your current place after buying a new place. thus u can take your time to renovate your new place before selling off the old flat
  20. thats what happened to me. 3 mths wait for 1st appt. add another 2 mths for 2nd appt. and another 6 weeks extended stay...
  21. i think its very hard to get feedback for mattresses as preference is very subjective. what i feel is comfortable might not be comfortable for you. the best way to know if a mattress is good for you is to go down to the shop and try it out yourself.
  22. the current market is overwhelmed with hdb transactions. as a result the appt dates get pushed further and further away lo
